Haha when I first heard the scream I was like "oh boy SFuture gonna like this" 🤣 was not disappointed. I'm not a fan of proper screamo, songs where like 90% of it is screaming, but I appreciate it in small doses so this was quality 👌 such a strong song to kick the new album off with
Same, I know screamo is the tea for some, but for me I love rock with screaming to accent the lyrics, although some bands, like Motionless In White, sometimes use screaming in interesting ways that works shockingly well with clean lyrics, like in their song Eternally Yours
Yesssss MiW is a great example, a few of their songs are too much for me but I have a lot of their songs in playlist. I really like Holding Onto Smoke, that's like peak example of using screaming in a song for me.
He has screamed before but it was always really controlled, and you could feel it being held back. Great example was the scream at the end of the song, Unsaid. He did a mini scream just before but that last scream was cut right at the end. I wonder if this is because Jake has such a tight control on his vocals, some confidence issue. I've heard him discuss that before that some songs are hard for him to maintain vocals. I love that song but I found myself wanting more of his screams. I love Metal too, though I'm choosy.
Honestly think Citizen Soldier would COMPLETELY benefit from screams from time to time because, the content of the songs can be darker and really describing those inner demons that people have. I have my own demons and I understand that pressure build up only to be released by a scream. Tapping into that, I think Citizen Soldier will only pull more people in because it's relatable. Jake doesn't have to do it a lot though, because it would push some audiences away. Great reaction!

love all the new citizen soldier songs. they've helped me a lot. jake's voice rocks. little suggestion: "centuries" by "the bass gang" and "misty mountains" by "the wellerman". both amazing acapella covers. most of the men in centuries are also part of misty mountains" (and there's 20 bass singers in that one ^_^) i've never been into acapella but those bass singers do some crazy stuff
