I'd say the fact they only gave the vibe of vogue and did not full dip into it, in my opinion, is super respectful to the culture and everything. They wanted to include vogue and its culture while respecting it and not trying to switch it up or try and do it and not make it look correct. I think this is being super self aware, they did amazing.
The reason why they didn’t go full out is cuz they have to perform this song on so many stages. It would definitely take a toll on their health if they did

Attitude by HyunA is also a very vogue song, and the chore in MV has some vogue elements, although the video here is partially vogue. @@polycereal ugh not rozalin, people call her devil's talent because she's a talented dancer but also a really bad person, she studied waacking and got kicked out because of her attitude then studied voguing under love ran and got kicked out again because of her attitude
No shade, LoveRan would have gotten them together choreography wise, but Juicy Couture bring showcased and credited was ideal to bring real (real enough) Vogue to KPop audience that usually just attribute vogue-esque elements to Drag Race's influence
there are definitely some incredible vogue choreographers and dancers in Korea who can (and have!) worked with girl groups! but from experience, training experienced dancers to look like VOGUERS and not dancers doing vogue elements is a long and tricky process that requires a lot more time and intention than most turnarounds for these projects allow
Love hearing your take! You provided some essential nuance and context on the realities of incorporating Vogue and ballroom into kpop beyond just the movement and choreography
Okay Chungha really did exactly that in Stay Tonight, I'm Ready and Dream of You with actually studying Vogue Fem. Each video kinda takes on different elements of Ballroom/Vogueing. Also, Irene and Seulgi spent three months learning Tutting for their Naughty music video and performances. Those are the best examples of KPop performancing Vogue Fem.
As someone interested in vogue but not a dancer, I learned a lot here. Thank you for your respectful review of this music video! Side note: I love what you said about having a group train in vogue, it's something I've talked about with my friends (who are also vogue enthusiasts).
i definitely think that echoing vogue and not going fully into the style as some people have pointed out is a very good way to respect the culture. i also think its a good way to work with the girls backgrounds and the way kpop idols are trained without pushing them too far into something that will look bad because they're not used to working in such a style. its a genius way of doing things!
You should check Sung Hanbin from Zerobaseone, he has a professional and beautiful background in styles like voguing, tutting, and waacking and has taken part and won in battles as well. Would love you could take a look at his videos
@ocaortega69 Hard agree. XG and LE SSERAFIM are a head and shoulders above other kpop GGs when it comes to dancing. I'd add Itzy but they didn't do the conditioning required for that intense of choreo and wore themselves out with repeated injuries. I know it's not his genre but I'd love to see him react to Easy, The Garage.
No need to compare groups. So I should start by saying LSF is obviously top tier when it comes to dancing. However, whenever other groups do dance challenges, you can see that most current idols are perfectly capable of doing other styles pretty well. If they don't in their own output, it's because their group concept limits the styles they might explore. LSF is basically defined by not really having a distinct style and being very different from song to song. That gives them a lot of breadth in performance, but I don't think they're better than others for it.
it was so nice to see lsf do an homage to the style without it looking like nogueing. obviously it's not the first time kpop artists work with ballroom dancers, but sometimes i almost wish they didn't 💀 like y'all are good at waacking, bring it back more often !! but crazy was a pleasant surprise. i would've loved to see more of house of juicy couture just having a kiki, but it is what it is, i'll take it
I loved hearing your thoughts about the choreo and the song, I knew you would probably react to it too considering the fact that you used to duet Remi’s tiktoks, which I thought was pretty cool. Other kpop artists have a background in voguing such as Sung Hanbin from Zerobaseone, who learned voguing from Titch Ninja. He is also specialized in waacking, like Chungha, who also often includes voguing in her choreos and works with dancers in Korea who are part of houses. Solar from Mamamoo also released a song and its choreography was fully created by the House of Love in Korea and which includes pretty much all five elements of vogue. I would love to see more voguing in Kpop choreos in the future and it was refreshing and awesome to see LE SSERAFIM highlight the House of Juicy Couture in their music video. It gives me hope for the future !
I really enjoyed your reaction and insight as someone who is part of the scene. For more of the culture in kpop, I suggest you check out Chungha, she has worked with vogue and waacking communities from Korea in her songs 'stay tonight' and 'i'm ready' which have fantastic performances featuring actual korean ballroom dancers and teams such as comingout crew, la chica and house of love. For stay tonight it is best to watch the coreography or studio choom version and for i'm ready the dance practice version.
Thanks for this, Gravity! Love when expertise of your kind is applied to this fascinating industry--I've been a kpop fan for about eight years now and love looking at it all through an analytical9, creative, & academic lens (kind of embarrassing how many of my uni essays and presentations were on the subject). I'm particularly interested in how queer/POC culture is adopted, appreciated, and appropriated by the industry, and this release is so exciting to me! I'm SO glad to see you've also done a video on Chungha's Stay Tonight, one of my favourite collaborations with Kim Ran--going to watch it right now!
i would LOVE to see how you react to sung hanbins artist of the month performance video, he has a lot of experience in waackong tutting and voguing so i would love to see what you'd think of it!
You should react to Changha! Specifically Stay tonight, a vogueing based song, I'm ready, a wackking (her specialty) based song w/ voguing elements, and Algorithm, a song with some vogue (and tutting?) elements.
Because K-pop isn't always great about honoring their influences, I was so happy to see the House of Juicy Couture in the video as well as credited. Unfortunately, lack of time is always an issue with groups, so I don't know if an existing group could get the training in. Like you mentioned, I would love a GG that specializes more in that world.
If someone were to make this a full on vogue track with the crashes and comments it would go crazy. The song is already sickening as it is but a vogue/ballroom remix would be chefs kiss
loved this video, the way id dieee for you to react to chungha and sung hanbin (more specifically his predebut videos but his aotm does have some incredible tutting too!) they're both amazing
you should check out Hanbin from zerobaseone!!! He has trained for a lot of years in the vogue, waacking and tutting style and he's and amazing dancer ❤
As their fan I was a little disappointed because the performance doesn't include that many vogue elements. I was kinda hoping they would go full out on it like Chungha, Kwon Eunbi and Solar did on some of their performances. Thank you for the video, it was great to know the opinion of someone who has been voguing for a while! I would love to know your opinions and see your reactions to other K-pop performances that include vogue in it!!!
i love the track, but regardless of what people think of the actual song, i'm so impressed with how the video and the company in general engaged with the ballroom scene. co-choreographed by actual ballroom dancers, full credits, included in the video, they had their own video visualiser for the track. like, this is APPRECIATION instead of APPROPRIATION - and it's so important to me how korean audiences will get to learn more about the black and queer cultures that their music scene draws so significantly from. again, i get that the song is divisive, but the the whole album release has really impressed me. thanks for all of your thoughts on the dance!
As a fan of ballroom but a non-dancer, I struggled to explain all the ways this MV reminded me of that culture. I am so glad to understand the references better myself too!
You should watch to Solar's music video 'Colors', she's also a kpop artist. She's from a group called Mamamoo, they're all amazing, but this song in particular is one her solos. It's really good.
Heyyyy!!!!! Me encanta el grupo, siempre hacen diferentes generos musicales y lo adaptan a su estilo, siempre dejan un mensaje en sus canciones 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Multiple people in the comments have mentioned him, however, I believe someone in the k-pop sphere that could be of interest to you is Sung Hanbin of zerobaseone. He is a professional dancer and choreographer who specilises in tutting and waacking. Though he isn't a voguer, he does have multiple videos of him voguing pre-debut which I believe you would enjoy. While he doesn't get to show this side of his dance speciality a lot, a performance he did recently showed more of his waacking and tutting; he performed on 'Studio chooms' artist of the month and part of the dance was choreographed by Spella, a famous Korean tutter and one of his dance teachers! Hi gravity! I’m such a longtime fan of yours as someone who is also in the community and I really enjoyed your insights on this release. I’d love to see you react to other attempts to feature vogue in kpop, namely chungha and solar who both worked with mother love ran from house of love. chungha who trained as a waacker has amazing adaptability to vogue fem which she showcased in stay tonight and she is so welcomed in the skr ballroom community (having once judged for face at a house of love kiki ball) while solar who despite not being trained in a similar style of dance originally, worked with house of love to perform a vogue choreo that features not just vogue fem but also old way (i forget if she had new way-esque choreo sequences that she also performed but iirc they did feature some new way voguers in the video), and she also featured the entire house of love in the mv and just displayed a huge passion to understand and credit the community. though i have some qualms about her teaching the choreography to others since she is not polished enough in her vogue fem to teach, her sincerity and passion for getting to know ballroom is fairly rare still and as such appreciated. i’d love to know your thoughts on the way the two artists approached their goal of featuring vogue in their craft and also what could’ve been done better. ❤
The sheer fact that they brought in House of Juicy Couture was amazing. Like the research was done the respect was paid and the love was shown!!

Another choreographer version of that song that HyunA didn't use is a fully vogue, has vogue fem and even old way in the end: th-cam.com/video/lKeLMjBpbnE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qwMx_xPO1ZBbcV_F
@@polycereal ugh not rozalin, people call her devil's talent because she's a talented dancer but also a really bad person, she studied waacking and got kicked out because of her attitude then studied voguing under love ran and got kicked out again because of her attitude
This !!!
and ladida by everglow
@@huafish-z6y oh yeah gonna put that on the list
THEY JUST PUT OUT A DESHAUN REMIX LIKE 20 MINUTES AGOOO
Okay Chungha really did exactly that in Stay Tonight, I'm Ready and Dream of You with actually studying Vogue Fem. Each video kinda takes on different elements of Ballroom/Vogueing. Also, Irene and Seulgi spent three months learning Tutting for their Naughty music video and performances. Those are the best examples of KPop performancing Vogue Fem.
As someone interested in vogue but not a dancer, I learned a lot here. Thank you for your respectful review of this music video!
Side note: I love what you said about having a group train in vogue, it's something I've talked about with my friends (who are also vogue enthusiasts).
i definitely think that echoing vogue and not going fully into the style as some people have pointed out is a very good way to respect the culture. i also think its a good way to work with the girls backgrounds and the way kpop idols are trained without pushing them too far into something that will look bad because they're not used to working in such a style. its a genius way of doing things!
would love to see your thoughts on SOLAR's song called COLORS (also a 'vogue' song and choreography from an SK house) love you! keep it up angel!! 💜
You should check Sung Hanbin from Zerobaseone, he has a professional and beautiful background in styles like voguing, tutting, and waacking and has taken part and won in battles as well. Would love you could take a look at his videos
LE SSERAFIM are open to dance to different genres, the only capable group that can showcase all!
Let’s be honest, all of these artists from bigger labels can showcase different genres of performance, that’s what their industry is all about.
@@mbvgliderWelp they are Top 2 nad not 2 best performers in 4th gen. Argue with wall, facts doesnt change
@@mbvglider we can compare groups as long as its respectfully. All groups excel in different skills compared to others.
The girls ate! I like that they didn’t try to own everything. They did well!
they have released another special version to highlight only the dancers. check that tooo pls
I love that her moves are vogue inspired but not too hard, makes it easier to learn when you're a beginner
it was so nice to see lsf do an homage to the style without it looking like nogueing. obviously it's not the first time kpop artists work with ballroom dancers, but sometimes i almost wish they didn't 💀 like y'all are good at waacking, bring it back more often !! but crazy was a pleasant surprise. i would've loved to see more of house of juicy couture just having a kiki, but it is what it is, i'll take it
I loved hearing your thoughts about the choreo and the song, I knew you would probably react to it too considering the fact that you used to duet Remi’s tiktoks, which I thought was pretty cool.
Loved this and rooted for you the whole way on Legendary! Would love to see you react to Sung Han Bin and Lip J's mini battle on Boys Planet
I love the song. Crazy !
Thank you sharing!
I love VOGUE dancer💖
I love Le sserafim💝
They just released a vouge remix of crazy!! Would love to see you react or even dance to it ❤
loved this vid so much, learned so much! would be curious to see your reaction to chungha's stay tonight performance vid if you ever consider it!
You should react to Changha! Specifically Stay tonight, a vogueing based song, I'm ready, a wackking (her specialty) based song w/ voguing elements, and Algorithm, a song with some vogue (and tutting?) elements.
Nice presentation, dude. You're not just a teacher. You're a GOOD teacher. It's clear.
Because K-pop isn't always great about honoring their influences, I was so happy to see the House of Juicy Couture in the video as well as credited. Unfortunately, lack of time is always an issue with groups, so I don't know if an existing group could get the training in. Like you mentioned, I would love a GG that specializes more in that world.
i think with kpop focusing a lot in choreo in recent years, it's becoming it's own style where things are the ✨vibe✨ of more stablished dance styles
If someone were to make this a full on vogue track with the crashes and comments it would go crazy. The song is already sickening as it is but a vogue/ballroom remix would be chefs kiss
I loved learning so much more about vogue, thank you for this video
Yall can tell he’s professional when he dipped his own head at the dip at 7:25
loved this video, the way id dieee for you to react to chungha and sung hanbin (more specifically his predebut videos but his aotm does have some incredible tutting too!) they're both amazing
you should check out Hanbin from zerobaseone!!! He has trained for a lot of years in the vogue, waacking and tutting style and he's and amazing dancer ❤
Thank you for the knowledge! Vogue is so so cool
I love LE SSERAFIM
As their fan I was a little disappointed because the performance doesn't include that many vogue elements. I was kinda hoping they would go full out on it like Chungha, Kwon Eunbi and Solar did on some of their performances.
Thank you for the video, it was great to know the opinion of someone who has been voguing for a while! I would love to know your opinions and see your reactions to other K-pop performances that include vogue in it!!!
loved your insight on this!! also you look beautiful as always
Recommend Sung Hanbin’s TikTok challenge version for this song! You can see the vogue is in his bonessss
i love the track, but regardless of what people think of the actual song, i'm so impressed with how the video and the company in general engaged with the ballroom scene. co-choreographed by actual ballroom dancers, full credits, included in the video, they had their own video visualiser for the track. like, this is APPRECIATION instead of APPROPRIATION - and it's so important to me how korean audiences will get to learn more about the black and queer cultures that their music scene draws so significantly from. again, i get that the song is divisive, but the the whole album release has really impressed me. thanks for all of your thoughts on the dance!
You should see Colors by solar, is also really inspired by vogue choreos and hella good!!!
i love that kpop are taking more vogue inspiration in their MV's and choreos, as a dancer i feel so excited.
They just released their choreography! That’ll be easier to analyze the dancing :)
I don't know much about vogue/dance, so it nice to hearing a more in-depth talk about it. thank you!
I would LOVE to see your reaction to I'm Ready by Chungha
She is the queen of vogue in kpop
100k view in 9days!!!!! Wow kpop fans really like professional mv reaction. Do more reactions please.
As a fan of ballroom but a non-dancer, I struggled to explain all the ways this MV reminded me of that culture. I am so glad to understand the references better myself too!
your hair is SO GORGEOUS
Thank you for coming to the LA listening party and dancing for us!!! I was in the front row and was having a blast watching you perform for us!!!
You should watch to Solar's music video 'Colors', she's also a kpop artist. She's from a group called Mamamoo, they're all amazing, but this song in particular is one her solos. It's really good.
Chungha I’m ready it’s mainly waacking tho I think and also Stay tonight has a lot of vogue elements
Loved the insights
Great insights! As a longtime kpop fan and a total outsider to vogue, you really broke things down in a way that I could understand. 👍👍
I WAS HOPING YOU'D REACT TO THIS!!! I loved the song and all the vogue/ballroom elements, I def feel this is the best K-Pop/Ballroom crossover yet!
Would love more reactions like this ❤
Love hearing your professional takes on this!
Heyyyy!!!!! Me encanta el grupo, siempre hacen diferentes generos musicales y lo adaptan a su estilo, siempre dejan un mensaje en sus canciones 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Enjoyed your insight and agree with the points you made! I think their creative choices were the right one. Thanks for sharing!
i would LOVE to see your reaction to the dance for Colors by Solar (from Mamamoo). She worked with the House of Love in SK for the choreo!
I suggest checking out a full choreo video and the MV for the English version in which you can see a lot more choreo with more vogue elements!
i’ve seen you around the internet and I like you, I didn’t realize you did youtube until just now but this is awesome for me
Multiple people in the comments have mentioned him, however, I believe someone in the k-pop sphere that could be of interest to you is Sung Hanbin of zerobaseone.
The link to that performance if you ever decide you are interested: th-cam.com/video/E_2f5RLsT_o/w-d-xo.html
You absolutely need to react to Chungha’s “Stay Tonight” and “I’m Ready”. She has a background in waacking and bits of vogue.
JACOB,
Lesserafim are the top Kpop girl group performers right now. They’re just so talented and the crazy stage presence. You should see their performance on Music Bank for this song.just awesome!
They have a vogue remix featuring dashaun wesley in the video!😊
Thanks for the video! Would also love to see you react to Chungha’s I’m Ready
Loved the music video and your analysis!
Please do watch Colors by Solar, that was so awesome, but I'm no professional, I just love everything she did!
You should teach a class in LA to the new Vogue Remix of Crazy! I would sign up IMMEDIATELY! 💕
