I got stuck on an open ski lift once for about an hour. I forget where but I'm pretty sure it was Breckenridge. Thankfully I had pretty good gear and the weather wasn't too bad so it wasn't a big deal. Thinking back on it, that could have been deadly if the weather had been as bad as it has been in some cases when I've skied/snowboarded. I remember skiing or snowboarding once when the wind chill temperature was -40F! It would have been deadly to be stuck on an open ski lift for an hour or more at that temperature.
@eddaniels3404 You're idiots and your echo chambers. First that gondola has been there for how many years? Second Chiiinaaaa can manufacture to ANY specification.
If the mountains are your calling and you enjoy sports in the snow... The rapture could be happening and people on the lifts would just be thinking "thank goodness, the lift lines are about to get shorter."
So it's not your thing, but you probably risked your life way more driving to work every single day your entire working life and never gave it a second thought. Life is dangerous, but it is far more dangerous to not experience life and do what you enjoy.
I simply do not understand the freak out comments. Yes-Skiing/Boarding can be dangerous. If one buys a ticket, one assumes the risks of the sport. Ski Patrol & Mountain Staff are VERY well trained. They all did a SUPERIOR job and they should be commended. Beyond that doomsday commenters should just chill out-and/or put on a double diaper and go back to their fear ridden lives.
Scary 😨 that's like that movie where they got stuck on the ski lift at night and the friend fell and the wolves ate him while his buddy had to listen to the screams and he froze to death 😢
Loved skiing Winter Park in my youth. ❤
More proof that ski patrollers should earn at least $30 hour.
$50 hour when doing avalanche control work.

Had to wait for three hours one time at Keystone😮 dangling 60 feet off the ground
It seems to me that everything has been falling apart in this country.
Your lack of education does not change the complexities of the world around you. Why don't you scurry back to your wittle echo chamber.
because one gondola malfunctioned in a country of 300m+? are you restarted
Where's the Metal From ? 😅
Exactly. I’ve worn shoes who’s rubber crumbled under from my feet from the same country.

Probably owned by vail resorts
Yes let's ski while the apocalypse is happening
What? Say it another so…

where do you live that is currently having an "apocalypse" lol, get off the internet for a bit
The moment the lift stopped would in my nightmare be the moment my intestines would decide to hand me an emergency.
Just because a lift stops doesn't mean it's in danger.
For real though 😂
Two lift passes for 2 days? That’s what, a $6000 in value? Anybody would hang for dear life for that.
Guess they will have to raise their prices .... again.
Good reason to have climbing skills.
Will the ski patrol get a Christmas bonus, or did this event cost Winter Park too much lost revenue?
I'm 73 and grew up skiing in Breckenridge, Colo. Broke my ankle and never skied again. Folks its friggin dangerous Period.
The same thing could happen getting off a city Bus or playing hockey.
@craigbosko2229 : Well Bless ur heart :D

I would take the Gondola as a last resort.
Hopefully they refunded all of those people
Nah the "trickle down" crowd have total power now and can do anything they want Trump is God!
There's actually enough snow on the ground for people to ski anywhere in Colorado? Oops, I forgot that they can make snow lol😅
