Before Interstate 85 to Atlanta was built US highway 29 was the main route to Atlanta from west Georgia and from Alabama (where I was born and live the first 50 years of my life). All traffic - cars, semis, delivery trucks, etc - had to travel 29 and it went through Hogansville. It was a popular place to get gas or have a bit to eat. Once I 85 was completed Hogansville began to decline.
Hi Emma, we are just passing through these towns we do not know the denomination of most of these churches, we see way to many churches to keep up , especially in Alabama where some small towns have up to 10 or more churches.
You don’t make commentary on the old churches the downtown theatres or other old buildings like old hotels and such. What is the population now ? Interesting facts about the old town and when did it become a town?
Thank you so much for the feedback! We just started the channel 2 weeks ago so we were more focused on getting videos posted just to see if there would be interest in our videos. Moving forward, we will definitely be researching the towns we will be visiting and adding more commentary with facts and tidbits. We hope you enjoyed the video and check out our future videos we post❤️
Me & my wife stayed in the old hotel in downtown probably 25 years ago. The owners turned into a bed & breakfast & we had the place to ourselves the whole night (besides the ghosts that entertained us)! We had dinner at Hogan Hero’s which at the time was a very very nice restaurant until the owners got caught selling drugs in the place. Don’t know if the Hotel/bed & breakfast is still operating - probably not. Town has long seen its better days!!
Is this for real? Why didn't you show any of the old colonial homes on Main St. Did you know that the 5th largest land owner in Ga was from Hogansville? What about the Grand Hotel and it's recent renovation... It's gorgeous inside! And there was no mention of the Royal Theatre. All you did was drive around in circles. But you never mentioned the area you were driving in was built as the mill village for the workers at Uniroyal which poisoned many people who not only worked there but those who lived in the mill village because of contaminated water. And the big old creepy building you showed for all of 5 seconds was a recreation center built for the mill village. It had a gym on the top floor for basketball several other areas filled with games etc and the bottom floor had an indoor pool. My mother said it was dark and dingy with bats flying all around and it was very creepy, So you did get one thing right.
