A stereo sound converted to 5.1 is NOT a true home theatre sound and also your speaker placement is totally WRONG the. Front L, R and Surround L, R should be placed at head height while sitting on a sofa ie at 3.5 ft from the ground and about the review you should show if the device can really support true 5.1 audio movie.

Hi, I have wzatco alpha x projector with spdif pin. Is it sufficient to get 5.1 sound output or do we still need to buy hdmi to hdmi audio converter?

Every split of stereo to 5.1 is just emulation meaning interpretation of what company want to do in the dsp of card (effects like hall , church, music , expand etc) it might add reverb or delays to sound.. if u want to have real 5.1 then only dolby digital is way to go. dts , atmos ..newer formats , only for movies , but for music simple stereo with bass and treble is enough if speakers are not powerful then subwoofer. And let me explain what problems are in movies with dolby digital recordings . A dvd or some digital content u buy, they sound as per the engineer who recorded it. What they do in the dolby lab is to adjust the levels of each 5 channels when they pack the audio for movie. Each movie will be different , some are low some are high , most of the time u will be adjusting it specially the subwoofer levels , and only if u listen carefully. Most of people are focused on center channel only , they just need to listen to dialogues. So get a good center channel.
These cards do work well in converting optical to analog channels with dolby processor but the digital raw signal also need to be sent in optical with a code that senses and switches to dolby digital which i doubt they can do very well.. And speakers also need to be good enough not tin can sounding. If u want decent solution then Logitech Z906 with dolby processor is good or Sony home theater with dolby digital the one with tall back surrounds. If u want dirt cheap then have creative 5.1 speakers and this card with optical in for DTS.

I have a Sony DZ 210 5.1 (which does not have an optical in or ARC) it’s audio output is excellent that do not want to upgrade to any wireless speaker. I doubt if this decoder gives me the same out put, please advise how I can connect it my Samsung Q60R with an additional device in a handy budget.
So does that mean even if I connect my Creative speakers to the TV using this decoder, I won't be able to enjoy surround sound audio seperation from Netflix and other OTT which gives 5.1 output ?

All the above products are cheap and deesive. Don't buy these. Just crap. Instead purchase a good 2.1channel speakers which is far better than these.

I have the same one , Its supporting AC3 ,DTS 5.1 to analog 5.1 .But it would be great if its supporting AAC 5.1 audio to Analog 5.1 . Now we gets only 2 channel stereo out or Prologic 5.1 while we plays AAC 5.1 audio formats .

whether the audio from TH-cam can support dts 5.1 as long as I only support 2.1
TH-cam doesn't supports 5.1,it converts 5.1 sound to 2.1, so doubt your test .. if it is Netflix i would have trusted

testing muic in 5.1 is bad idea , if vocals play in rear spekers means its actually playing 2.1 ............5.1 means vocals should come only in center , l+r used for music sl+sr used for surround test again in movie and reupload video if not this video is useless

I have a have 5.1 proper surround system. You only enjoy surround sound in movies when the movie sound is actually 5.1 and you hear different sound effects from different surround speakers. Basically surround speakers are for sound effects. Otherwise sound coming from all 5 speakers for a medium size room is just not pleasent.

This will provide 5.1 not 5.1 surround. You would get same output from all speakers that's it. TV's optical out doesn't support 5.1 out.

You cant get true surround sound true an 3,5 mm jack( aux ) it will only be stereo whatever you hear in the front the same will be in the back you have to use an optic cable for true surround sound :)

That’s not true 5.1. Just connect a laptop or DVD player to the tv and optical out the signal from the tv to decorder and then u will get true 5.1 if your media content is true 5.1. Use VLC player on laptop which supports surround sound.
Alternatively you can connect gaming or Blu-ray devices through hdmi to tv and it will output optical out from tv to decorder.

When you find on internet as 5.1 decoder . There are 100 of products available . And every product looks similar. Do you know how to choose true working product that can really decode dolby . Already got one . It is garbage . Surround channel same as front left and right channels . :(
Most of the converter are not upto the mark. I also used but semi satisfied not fully. Better to choose inbuilt dts/dolby audio system, but they are costly. If you try to buy with in 20k then better to don't buy. Above 30k some what good. Need more satisfaction pay 50+. Deep feeling 1L +. Ha one thing 20k to 30k between logitec z906 is best choice. Don't try to buy Sony at this price range.

You should turn the rear speakers upside down, now its up-firing the sound
If we connect aux single cable connect to decoder will get 5.1 sound properly
using aux, that is only 5.1 output with equal sound to each speaker, but 5.1 surround sound effect will not be delivered.

Br youtube doesn't support 5 Channel audio. If we unload an 5 chabbel audio youtube will convert it into 2 channel. So if you need orginal dolby 5 channel audio you should download a 5 channel audio from somewhere else
