He says earlier on that both him and Shirou are on borrowed time and both are dying. Even at the end when he dies, he says it was a purely a matter of timing. He simply ran out of time before Shirou did In the Visual Novel, it actually details why Kirei was the first to go. Back when they were in the forest, both Kirei and Shirou trigger their eventual causes for death. Shirou using the arm, Sakura cutting off Kirei's heart from the grail. In terms of events, Kirei was minutes before Shirou, so as such his time ran out first

If he is ever caught in ubw without his Ea in hand , to instantly break the reality marble , then he auto loses , because shirou spams faster then him (so he doesn;t win in a straight spam battle) , His chains are literally useless vs a normal human that is using magic to reinforce his body , and his armor would be irelevant since he isn't covering his head anyway. Shirou could always aim at his head rather then any other part of the body. Lastly , because shirou inherits the martial prowes of the original creators , whenever he creates wepons , and because as shirou himself said , gil is an "owner" of said wepons , but not a master of any of them , that means that shirou is hilariously enough , better in melee then gil is. Ubw is such a massive counter to gil that's not even funny. Obviously , gil being gil , he also has the counter to ubw , but considering he isn't aware that shirou has ubw , and shirou himself is aware of Ea , the simple reality is that gil has no chance once he;s caught in Ea. The anime even made him look better than the visual novel. In the visual novel , the grail literally saves him from being decapitated by shirou (rather then saving shirou as it is in the anime). Also , it's saber's excaliblast who collapses shirou;s reality marble , rather then him running out of mana... So gil got saved twice in that fight - once by saber breaking ubw , and second time by the grail.That;s how bad he was losing.
Him looking "bland" is kind of the point. Shirou is so damn well writen. Even if it dosent look like it right now the dude becomes such a cold madass (sadly you don't get to see all of it in the anime.)
Fate has the best fights and animation I've ever seen, but the story and characters are also incredible. Great video! Looking forward to even more Fate content in the future. And yeah the main series is about 75 episodes and 3 movies. Fate/Stay night (25 episodes), Unlimited Blade Works (25 episodes), Heaven's Feel (3 movies), and Fate/Zero (25 episodes). Totally worth getting into.
We are going to start fate on the channel 3 episodes per vid - should we follow this order you said ? With Fate/stay night then UBW , heavens feel then fate zero?
Mojo makes really bad lists tbh. They might have done the new one justice but I have stopped watching there videos ages ago just because how much they don't know about any of the series they do.
Good reaction again :) Interesting fights list, I disagree with some of the fights on there, but overall a good selection. Obviously the fights were cut short (though this video did it better than some others I've seen), but you still get a good impression of them.

You’re pretty much on point with the “Bland faced mc” he’s pretty much meant to a completely ordinary man with extraordinary willpower. The reason Gilgamesh loses to him is because of a several factors. Gilgamesh’s weaponing summoning is slower than the MCs weapon creation. Since Gil needs to summon them from his armory while Shirou can call a weapon straight to his hand as it already exists near him. And mostly importantly just like how you guys thought he was bland, Gilgamesh called him the same thing. He’s just a human kid and a God like Gilgamesh doesn’t need to be concerned. Mc to Gilgamesh is literally not even a threat. But that arrogance blinded Gilgamesh and through out the battle he refused to admit that the kid that he disregarded as not even worth looking at Gilgamesh was now pushing him back as if they are on even terms. At the very end when Gilgameshes arm is about to be cut off he gets serious and tries to use his strongest weapon. But he hesitates, he realizes that pulling out his trump card would allow him to win the fight but lose his pride. That second of hesitation is all what MC needed to cut off his hand to stop him from using the strongest weapon. Gilgamesh lost the fight because he judged MCs as someone who wasn’t worth anything.
3:16 Funny thing about this fight: you say final boss, but that's not the finale (even tough it looks good enough to be one) It's not even the mid-season finale one. That's a random fight on the beginning half of the anime. This anime is the biggest spectacle in animation I have seen and in terms of fights it got pretty much everything. Only downside is it's really hard to get into. You would need to have the basic understanding of fate first of all, and even then it's the chapter 7 of a years old mobile game. You would have to watch a intro movie to the world of Fate/grand order, that isn't even very good.

In addition to the incredible fights, it has amazing charaters and really thoughtprovoking themes, and even after that really wholesome calm moments to balance it all. Never seen anime like it. I will warn you, if you start to react to it on youtube, there will be fights about where you should start. It's the worst aspect of fate fandom. It really doesn't matter, I personally like Fate/Zero the best as a starting point, but Unlimited blade works, and the 2006 Fate/Stay Night work as well, and you'll most likely love Fate all the same.
