Finally got a working Wii! What's better to first try out (besides GameCube games) than a port of a modern game? To play for yourself: github.com/Mef... Links to other things of mine: linktr.ee/mdtr...
Sega Saturn would be a better option. But even though the game is decompiled, the code simply can't run on the Saturn so it would have to be rewritten or converted to C. And then all the assets need to be compressed to fit on a 700MB disc.
And the Xbox 360 as well as PS3 too! Considering how powerful they are, more powerful than the Wii, and if the Wii can run it, then so can these two consoles!
@@krashplays3211I mean if sonic generations, unleashed, and the Sonic CD 2011 remaster can run on them sonic mania probably can too Edit: after all the Sonic CD 2011 remake uses the retro engine the same engine Mania uses.
@@genderedgirl the reason they ran bad in older versions is because before, they weren't programmed to take advantage of the wii's graphics hardware whereas now they do instead of relying entirely on the cpu.
I'm certain that I am not the only person that will make the obvious "Sonic the Hedgehog Mania: Several Wills" joke, given how the many Frametime Spikes and Eleven Second load times will remind many of Several Wills (2006/2007 Game)'s loading when being played from a Hard Drive, USB Flash, or SSD; it would be nice to know what a CPU Overclock will do to the ability for this port (along with the other RSDK Decomps on the Wii) to play, it is presently stuck in Bootable status on Dolphin and thus I cannot do any proper checks on this (yet), wishfully an OC will alleviate some of the burden of having to wait for the zones to load and maybe even help with optimizing the Framerate Consistency of the Special Stages so that they don't witness this level of dipping so frequently.
I would download this, if I wasn't still looking around for my wii SD card which has all my homebrew files on it. Sonic Mania is the next Doom. I also know Doon was written with old code making it so accessible, but I still wonder how is the most ported and accessible video game a 3D game. Strange to me, but probably has a good reason behind it.
hey so quick question, i have installed this and when i load up the games the wii just freezes on the mod loading done screen is there any way to fix this?
Ain’t no way a game with sonic R models as it’s most heavy asset can cause the WII to lag, if anything, this game should be running like normal just with a lower resolution.
@@MDTravisYT I wouldn't mind to have that disabled as long as I can see the track the rings, the blue spheres and the UFO. If they can keep an element or two that would be fine, but I mean, we all just need the chaos emerald.
I mean it’s not hard to run ps1 graphics when the console is way better than a ps1 I feel like a bit of work on what needs to be rendered would make it fully runnable
I did, but nothing works. I'm probably doing it all completely wrong and I'm just stupid, I mean I only hacked my Wii not even a week ago but I still know how to put the homebrew channel in, newer Mario bros, stuff like that. But when it comes to ANYTHING sonic, I'm out of luck
@@MDTravisYT Like is there some step by step instructions I'm missing? Cus I swear I'm following every instruction I'm given. Is there a very extremely specific rsdk I should get?
at this rate, we need Sonic Mania on the original PlayStation!

Someone already ported it to the PS3 and I think it runs a bit better than the Wii, though likely still isn't optimized.@@krashplays3211

God have you seen the special stages
and the Special Stages are basically your average Sonic 1 GBA playthrough
3:43 there is no way in hell the special stages run that well now
last i checked i could've sworn they ran at like 15fps or some shit
Real. I've got the game on my Wii and the special stages run like shit. Dude must have contacted the dark lord to make some shit happen.

its basically the CPU (like Sonic 1 on the GBA (ew.) now that i think about it)
I’m just happy to see a 2017 game run on the original Wii. Makes me happy.
I think Ive just noticed how old the Wii actually is
That’s his display. Not the wiis problem
Yeah, and this game can also be on Wii U too.
this is so awesome keep up the good work
it should be obvious by the description that i didn't create this homebrew
Now we need Sonic Mania on PS2.
apparently it'd take a LOT of work since the software library that mania uses isnt supported on ps2 or something like that

They made RSDKv5 on Windows 9x.
I could totally see this being WiiWare if it was more optimized for the system and all of it's 88 MB of RAM
Im still waiting for the Dreamcast port... 😔💀
The only way to play it
I think someone is making that

There's mods for performance optimization, though the video here shows the raw game.
Now we need sonic rom hacks or fangames for the wii
You can already run rom hacks? Just get the Genesis Plus GX emulator and some roms from the Sonic Hacking Contest or Sonic Retro.
I wish someone would once make a physical sega genesis cartridge for this game.
...but I was told special stages are very laggy.
No, they're just slow.

Doom Wii Vs Wii U which version is better?
If Sonic Mania [ Sega Saturn ] (1996)
Could we use the Netflix mobile special stage shaders since they are optimized?

Sonic mania on the leapfrog when

It's all the background scenery. If those are disabled, it runs fine. The reason it lags is because *the whole stage is loaded at once.*

It's directly reading off of the RSDK, so I believe so.
Doesn't the Wii support 16:9 resolution? Why was it cropped to a 4:3?
I was also playing on my CRT as I was recording this, which only supports a 4:3 output.

Install it like any normal Wii homebrew app and supply the RSDK file where it asks for it.

I'm not even sure if Wiis can read floppies. This is running off of an SD card.
