I remember seeing the1970 Sebring 12-hour race with old friend Allen Fox. Mario Andretti won in a Ferrari, McQueen drove a Porsche to second with one leg in a cast. What a competitor!
I had a friend who was a mechanic in LA, including working on CanAm 917s, back in the early 70s. He had a 911S, and one day he stops at a light, looks next to him and there's Steve McQueen in a Mercedes sedan. They look at each other, the light turns green and they take off. McQueen blew his doors off. Turns out the Mercedes was some tuned V8 beast.
McQueen had about 300 motorcycles in various states of repair when he passed, many being Indians. My Uncle, (who worked at the factory pre and post WW ll), and I were going to attend the auction in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, my Uncle developed brain cancer and passed a few months before the auction. I just couldn't bear to go without him.
Watched him race at Riverside Race Way many time in the late 60s and early 70s along with Dan Blocker and Paul Newman. Friend of the family sold a ACE motorcylce to him.
He was The King of Cool and had a Shelby Cobra 289 at some point. I am most certainly not the King of Anything, but have a AC Cobra 427. I consider that second best... LOL
Mi puñetero ídolo de juventud y de madurez. El tío con el estilo de vestir másculino más icónico, y que aún está vigente. No digamos su manera de ver la vida. Un verdadero petrolhead y un golfo adorable.
No one is ever gona get close to how cool McQueen was, but someone who has the style, women and cars to go right up that alley is Jason Statham, you should make a video about Statham's rides
My favorite is the Jaguar XKSS and had the privileged to see it in person, and i have 360VR interactive footage of it in my Automotive PlayList they mentioned Mulholland Drive.Steve McQueen raced it down with James Dean Bullitt Mustang in 1975 Steve McQueen Offered the owner $38,000 cash in a time when the most expensive car was a \\Duesenberg's $25,000 and Mansions were $35,000 to $40,000 the Bullitt was his unicorn. Just happy to see it running around again he would have wanted at least that much. 🧑🏻🦱👍🏻🏎️🏁 In order to Fund LeMans he bought 2 Porsche 917K for $16,000 each... when I said he bought is cause it was Funded by his and Wife Production company called SOL Productions.

One car Steve desperately wanted to buy but never got......the 1968 Green "Bullitt" Mustang. It eventually sold at auction for millions.
“Everything else is just waiting.”
The D type was my favorite.
Wow!
🙆♂️in my next lifetime, I'm gonna be just like Steve McQueen
I heard a rumor that he actually owned the Bullitt 68 Mustang for a time..
The Green Jaguar , had a nick name , I can't remember it
I Always Knew Deep Down He Had a Corvette Stingray (1966)
