I have 2 of these racks on my X3s. You didn't show the most difficult part which trying to get the rack strut to connect to the release handle. The cables are crap. I broke the ends off of mine trying to get them to hold. I finally just gave up and cut some angle iron and bolted the rack directly to my roll cage and didn't use the struts. The rack doesn't go up and down but it's pretty solid. Also, by mounting it directly to my roll cage, I was able to install a locking cargo box in my bed. If you mount the struts in the bed, you cannot install any type of box that goes in the bed. I also recommend installing the tie down little angle brackets across the middle connection that hold the two sides together. One for the front and one for the back. The extra brackets will help keep the rack from bending in the middle and you can use ratchet straps to hold your items down. I carry a spare tire and a small ice chest on my rack. I'm already starting to see a little bending on the rack. I mostly trail ride so not jumping hard at all. I do recommend the rack; they look cool and are functional, but you might need to modify as I've done.
