Thank you, I cut our rug down perfectly following your tutorial. But I did not use rug binding since it is so expensive. I went to Joann’s fabric store and found some cord piping in the trim area and got 3 yards for under $12. It looks beautiful and worked exactly the same way but much cheaper.

Did you hot glue the piping along the perimeter?

Yes, I used gorilla hot glue and glued the cord tape to the edge of the rug that I cut. It has been a year now and it still looks fantastic and holding strong. Soo much cheaper than using carpet tape. Joann’s has a good selection, also try hobby lobby. It’s not that visable since I matched the carpet color closely.

very helpful video! Although I would recommend getting heavy duty scissors and not a box cutter to cut the rug.

Thank you so much. I've been searching for this exactly. I bought a indoor outdoor rug at sams club. Its too big and needs resized. Did you use carpet knife or just a regular utility knife? Was the level necessary? Sorry for all the questions this is my first time. I will be doing this alone. Thank you 😊

A razor blade? You’re cutting a thin & cheap rug. No razor is gonna work on real carpets

When she said razor blade, I think she was referring to a utility knife blade. I've cut regular carpet with those. You have to change the blade occasionally because it loses its edge after awhile, but it works.

Then don’t use a razor blade on your real carpet.🤷🏻‍♀️ 3:31
