    David Rodigan, thank you for this. I met you at Crazy Richie's of Afrique birthday party in South Florida. I was born and grew up in Clarendon, where Jah Shaka came from, but unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to meet him.
    As a dj/selector and sound man, I instantly liked and adored this brother and his passion for music and sound system culture. I was so delighted when I learned he is from Clarendon. Jah Shaka rest in eternal power. Nuff love 🎵🎶🎼

      Respects to Rodigan, but never say he was a pioneer in Reggae music, because he simply was not and is not. Rodigan latched on to a foundling reggae market when Reggae was hardly known to those outside our Caribbean community and brought it on to his radio show in the 1980s. Since then, Rodigan has been performing Reggae music made by others. He has never ever made nor produced Reggae music. So, not a pioneer. RIP - Shaka.

    • @yodab.at1746
      @yodab.at1746 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@qedamawiessene5827 well, reggae music isn't just roots and consciousness. Much as I don't buy into slackness, that was a huge part of reggae and soundsystem culture in Jamaica for a very long time. And Rodigan was part of that, to an extent. But he didn't do the cuss thing, his knowledge and the way he presented meant he was a clash winner without the cuss cuss. But his knowledge of the roots side is also massive. Rodigan broke all the stereotypes of a white English man, and Jamaicans loved that because he was/is so passionate about Jamaican music.
