I can still remember the subplot with the liner, over 25 years after watching this series on Super Channel in the UK. It was depicted pretty graphically - not surprising by anime standards, but I doubt any of the mainstream UK broadcasters would've left in the more gruesome shots, if they ever showed this series (which they haven't).
I saw this show in the eighties and still, I am able to match dialogues as they come! I feel like I had only seen this a few weeks ago! There is nothing like this show. others are either too exaggerated or too super-powered. This is a good balance of realism and hopefulness. and So many interesting science ideas like Space elevators and biological warfare and more discussed in this that are now part of our current world discussion.
NASA says the basic concept of a space elevator is sound, and researchers around the world are optimistic that one can be built. The Obayashi Corp., a global construction firm based in Tokyo, has said it will build one by 2050, and China wants to build one as soon as 2045.
World needs a sub like that, that never goes empty on weaponry. :)

or better that they use AI to regenerate the animation to look better but keep the MUSIC and voiceovers intact.
