Student in Japanese studies here :) Itadakimasu (いただきます) comes from the verb itadaku いただく(頂く) which translate to 'To receive'. But it's the honorific form of the verb 'Morau' もらう which basically means the same. So the Japanese people use itadaku when they receive something from higher ups and also to show/express their respects to them. But in the case of the food the higher ups are actually the gods. So they kinda thank god for the food on the table.

Heat the plastic top evening on its side, rotating for even heating on a gas stove or with a lighter (former is better), the plastic melts enough that you can stick in a screwdriver and lever to pop it out, the grab the marble (sounds harder than it actually is).

Problem is, I am allergic to Seafood... There was this one time I was eating shrimp soup with rice and my lips suddenly became numb and thick! That was when I found out about my allergy, then not long after I found out it was a family heritage.... I also craved lobsters not long ago,then after that everything I tasted was a bit sour. At the tip of my tounge I used a lot of toothpaste during that time, fortunately, that allergic reaction was gone after a week or so... Edit: I also have this kid, a daughter of my aunt, her allergy is Chocolate... Me and my brother gave her a slice of some black forest cake, and she only ate the icing.. We also gave her a box of chocolates, but she said thank you and just as we were about to leave, she threw the chocolate onto the trash bin...

I'm learning Japanese, and I know that "itadakimasu" いただきます is something you say to thank the host for your food and you should say it to be respectful.
Its like saying "Thank you for your food" or "Bonne Appétit" ?
