Crochets trade value just went way down
That's perfect. Makes it easier for the Dodgers to get him.
That’s probably what he wants
@@PANCHO15108then the Sox will hold. If he can finish out the full season as a starter, then he will have great value going into 2025. I think Getz will hold just like with Cease. He’s not hurting our payroll. Moncada is making 25mil to play damaged goods. Crochet makes about 800k and is worth the hold.
Right down to zero.
You think a guy who hasn't pitched more than 50 innings in a season before this deserves guaranteed money? Crazy.
White Sox gave guaranteed money to every decent prospect the last 8 years. The current best prospect of that pool wants what he can get. After all the funny business the White Sox do with their young players, good on Crochet for taking care of his career.
Yessssss this guy’s a Ace
He just screwed himself and the Whitesoxs organization
Holy crap what a horrible decision for crochet and for this to be public.
Is what is in the best interest of the players ALWAYS what is best for the league? I know what is good for the owners isn't always good for the league. Crochet has 2.5 years left on his deal and hasn't had a single complete season without an injury. How can he demand an extension for half a good season? He doesn't even have a no trade clause.
I think it’s more of he would refuse to pitch in the playoffs to protect his arm if he’s not getting some security.
@@thpnob8419 Imagine if all players on rookie deals or in ARB did that because it makes sense injury wise before their first big deal. That would suck. He could also increase his value by pitching well in the playoffs.
@@SuperReviews4you value in arbitration generally isn’t impacted by playoff performances. And most players in ARB/Pre-ARB aren’t in his situation. He’s blown out every time he’s basically doubled his career high in innings and there’s over 2 months left before the playoffs
@@thpnob8419 Im talking about once he reaches FA that number will go up.
This isn't football. You have no leverage. If you want leverage keep playing. Even if you are hurt you get service time as long as you get hurt while playing in the major leagues. Makes him seem like a spoiled asshole especially since he's a first round pick who already got big money from his signing bonus.
How? He isn't threatening to take his glove and go home unless he gets more money. He wants to post every 5 days. He doesn't want some new team to swoop in, move him to the pen, and mess with his career.
LMAO, owners are getting more money than ever. Players should also get a piece of that pie
First reply, learn to read. Second reply, just because owners are greedy doesn't mean players aren't overpaid.
@@somerandomguy5977 Don't be a joke. In this scenario between Garrett Crochet and billionaire sports owners, how does he seem like the spoiled asshole? You don't know what you're talking about.
It’s an game that every young kid wants to play. Wow if he had an regular job, I would like to hear him give those demands to the owner or supervisor. My arm could be soar so can you give me some more money to do my job.
i'm generally pro-players and will be 99% of the time but don't ever bring up football like frazier did. NONE of you want that.
ever.
Dude generates some trade interest and starts making demands 🤣
That Bronson arroyo knock off needs to know his place. That jabroni can't even pitch one complete season and thinks he's Clemens or schilling now? Ha
what does the contract say? is he employed for the regular season only or for the postseason as well? is he employes as astarting pitcher or as a baseball player?
White Sox cannot catch a break. Trade Value just went way down.
1:30.. Toddfather.. a backup plan? The guy hasn't pitched more than 50 innings so why would anyone give him money?
So you're saying the player wants to get paid before he knows he's going to get hurt so that he can get paid while not pitching for the team?
Why would a team do that?
And if a team is stupid enough to do that all crochet is doing is making it more difficult for future players to get extensions.
Its ass backwards business-sense for any business to pay for an employee to sit home injured.
Todd, I agree with a lot of what you say but this was just downright selfish asinine nonsense
That’s going to take the Orioles out of the running for crochet . Orioles ain’t paying nobody that much money
Takes the Orioles out of the running because they won't spend that kind of money for an entitled brat who maybe has one more full season as a starter before the elbow goes under the knife putting him out for an entire calendar year. Orioles will gladly save that money to help extend a couple kids named Adley and Gunnar
Nice to come to this channel and see others thinking like me. This guy has made almost no money in MLB and he's a hot property right now and might be working a regular joe job in 3 years. I'm sure there is some money for him but with how few innings he's pitched he's not getting 15 mil + a year. Not worth the risk for a guy with so few MLB innings.
The reason guys get big deals after 6-7 seasons is because there’s a proven track record there. This guy has no track record. It depends on what he wants in terms of the deal but this comes off as ridiculous. White Sox have to be fuming because his trade value collapsed
Smart move. He’s pitching great and has the leverage.
Let him eat crow
The contract extension makes him less expensive as far as assets required to acquire from the Sox. Perhaps opens the door for a team with less assets, smaller window to keep winning to accommodate his demands like the Astro's. Just saying they have a bunch of money coming off the books next year and beyond. Pretty sure if they could afford the assets to please the White Sox he would already be pitching for them. They aren't about giving pitchers 10- 350 mil but are willing to do 4-5 year low 100's kinda deals.
This guy will stay a White Sox. Crazy
Great job.. refuse to pitch and see what happens... I think they have a list for that and it's not good for a player under contract.. This is not the NFL.. I remember a few players moved to OF and tried to refuse only to find out if they did it's a breach of their contract and they won't play.
Frazier seems to be so on board with he idea of players holding out from the outside. I wonder what his real opinion would be if he was a player on Mets, in the playoff hunt, and they trade for Crochet. Only for him not to pitch on the playoffs when it matters most. Yea I don't see that going well
I don't have a problem with it. Every one of us would use all the leverage we can while we have it. If you don't look out for yourself, nobody else will. Teams will use players up and throw them on the scrap heap. People in football do this all the time. Cowboys have at least one now. Jordan Love won't practice until he gets an extension. Aiyuk from the niners... Not a big deal. May affect his trade value but does he care? Use your leverage before it's gone. Because you have none when you're injured. Ask Walker Buehler
Crochet's situation is too complicated to resolve over a trade deadline move. It feels more like an offseason trade.
Nobody holds out in football anymore, and NFL contracts are not guaranteed.
That is a terrible comparison to make unless you want MLB players to have the same no leverage dynamic that NFL players suffer.
I'm kinda disgusted by the opinions expressed here. Part of being an athlete is not getting injured. It sounds like he planning to get injured.
Maybe use this as leverage against sox, still trade for him, then just offer him $5m guaranteed just to pitch in October. That could end up only being one game. $5m guaranteed. If you're Crochet, you're telling me you don't do that?
This show gives insight on how greedy people who play games for a living can be. America needs a salary cap.
the cake is in front of him and he aint letting it get away
Salary cap would kill the sport
Salary cap is 🗑️🗑️🗑️. Football players holdout all the time yes because of that stupid salary cap.
I never pitched more than 50 innings in my career
Which is why a team would be stupid to give him an extension before he shows anything in the playoffs.
He has never pitched a meaningful inning in his MLB career.
He pitched in the playoffs 2020 and 2021, is that not meaningful? I know he’s new as a starter, but he’s still a great pitcher. Sox should hold for the offseason and let him prove himself the rest of this year as a starter.
Wise athlete.
Or you can keep playing for the white sox
Unless it’s like 10-15 mil per year starting in 2027 when he would hit free agency till 2032 at age 33 then nah.
What? Good luck with that
Only two solutions for other teams. Don't trade for him or use him as an opener...
No freaking way you are 25 mil a year for his arb years
Nah this is smart for him
Who does this bronson arroyo knock off think he is? One good season after being average for how long? Refusing to do your damn job should be a breach of contract.
These guys are always o the players side.
Players already make way too much money. Now, they want to dictate when they play. It's starting to become ridiculous. Be thankful you're even playing ball for a living. Can you imagine going to your boss and laying down guidelines on your limits. He'd show you the door.
Dude has leverage right now and is making less than $700k/year (making way too little money). If he makes it to FA with his elbow attached to his arm his is almost guaranteed to get $10mil + a year if only as a reliever. Exponentially more if he is able to maintain front line starter stuff. Gotta secure his future if he is gonna go from 50 innings / year to 200+ to chase some billionaire owners dream. Typically if a guy has only thrown 50 innings in a season in his careers they work him up to 200 over several seasons to protect him from injury.
@@hansari8697 According to the CBA, Crochet has no leverage at this stage of his career...
@@positively_broad_st3780 You don't actually believe that, do you? If he was a mediocre prospect he wouldn't have leverage. A 25 year old frontline started pitching at an All-Star level does. If you want a recent example look at Josh Hadar. He was able to dictate his usage for years till he got paid. Crochet could easily refuse to come out of the bullpen and put an inning cap on himself to protect himself from injury. What are they gonna do, cut him?
A lot of ifs... @@hansari8697
This channel is so biased!
Good for Crotchet.
Yankees
From Garrett Crochet’s perspective, this is a win. He’s going to end up getting what he wants, probably going to go to a good team that can meet his demands, and the team that he goes to is going to have to give up less to get him than his trade price last week.
THIS. It only hurts the White Sucks and nobody else. Players should absolutely look out for themselves because nobody else will.
I disagree. No one is going to trade a lot of value for someone who has said he will blackmail them in order to fulfill his current contract especially considering he's never been able to stay healthy. I could be wrong but I think his trade value just took a big hit.
@@TheHulk9er Its BECAUSE he trade value going down that teams will be interested, not the other way around. At max value White Suks will ask the world for him, and now he will be approachable cause they won't give up as much.
Pitchers need to look after themselves, league is treating them like used condoms.
Went to nobody.
