    I have a Yamaha FG251b from 1983, and still sound awsome. even a Taylor 8xxx series can't compare.

      Wow that's Very interesting, says alot about aging doesn't it, just the subtle change's that influences the sound- tone, not volume so much but tone, BEAUTIFUL 😮

      Skid Row it depends on the condition, the year and place where it's made and how much the owner is willing to sell it. In eBay it cost 250 US dollars and up plus shipping fee.

    I know the FG 180 are famous for sound but to shed a little light on the subject ... I have had several FG180's. I took my FG335 1978 and my FG 180 1967 & did a little sound test comparison, side by side, same strings same test tunes, & recorded as well. on the recording I could not tell any difference. But in hand, live to ear I did note the slightest difference, maybe 5-8% warmer/Brighter with the 180. Which I would probably attribute to the extra 11 years of aging/being played. Assuming everything else was almost equal.

    These guitars were dirty cheap just the aging process made them sound good

    • @artvillarino2878
      @artvillarino2878 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Allen it cost @ 180 US dollars in the 1970s; Martin D18 cost 280 dollars; D35 at 380 dollars.
      Now, the FG 180 costs around 2K dollars; D28 @ 4K; D35 @ a lot more.
      It’s may sound cheap for rich customers but not for the poor ones.

      @@artvillarino2878 then again if you really want something you'll find a way. Many poor people worked very hard through history to earn the money to get 1 quality guitar. We are spoiled today. You could make enough money to buy a premium guitar just signing up for community college and get money back from Pell Grant. Or finance through guitar center, or do lawn work on the weekends.
      No excuses for an American to not be able to afford a nice instrument if they really want one.

      Richard Lucas Cronley well, I’m in law school now and my priority is to graduate then find a better job. Guitars and other things are just luxuries that can wait. Nevertheless, I’ll stick to my old Yamaha FG-180 and Gibson J45 for now until further notice.

    This Yamaha has apparently new frets, a vintage guitar loses its value if any original part is changed.

    • @FifoLusa
      @FifoLusa 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      no, it loses value just in case of strutural changes, holes for preamps, etc, this guitar is not a pre war martin rs...is a work horse, it deserves to be in war conditions
