Vemeulen is back to his best right on time for the World Cup. In devastating form right now - along with Burger and Louw they are a formidable back row. So much impressive shit on this video, but it's the breakdown work I find most awesome. When you watch guys like Vermeulen and Pocock winning penalties through forcing ball carriers to hold on in the ruck like that - they make it look so easy!
thanks man! Yeah he's a beast so I think I'll do one soon. Done a lot of forward tributes recently, so I might do one or two backs tributes next. Cheers for requesting.
Gary Concar Seriously it's funny how quickly people forget how good someone was when they see fit , I'm not saying he's better than Duane or that he ever will be but discounting his performances as one of the best running eight man's ever is a joke.
Doesn't help having skills if you get dominated physically , at the present moment based on recent games/this year Duane is the better player , the best player in the world is form based and not based on skill set.
Very good rugby player. He's playing to his strength. Imagine he had a Bobby Skinstad flair combined with his power. He would have been a Zinzan Brooke. However he is too one dimensional that's why he won't be regarded as an all time great

Whenever our players go over seas they come back average. Never has a South African player come back from overseas being better than when they left for overseas. Playing against NZ and AUS club teams brings the best out of you and your ability. Louw, Vermeulen, Steyns ( both) ,Goosen, Spies, even josh strauss at the Lions was better than he is now playing for scotland etc. The list just goes on and on and on. The physicality is not there in NH rugby. I am a Sharks fan and we ave been dismal this season yet we beat both toulon and toulouse in the warm up games... Lets not even get started on the quotas... RIP South African Rugby since 2007. I am yet to see Vermeulen this year bring the savagery and physicality that many teams feared :(
Good, yes for many sides. World Class... I dont think so. I have yet to see him perform in the bok jersey since he left. He doesn't run that hard, He doesn't tackle aswell as other loosies. The only thing he can really do is steal the ball, which he should be doing more of. Hes become like a morne steyn in flank position. Morne is relevant when his kicking is on point, when its not, hes just there. Louw is relevant when he steals the ball. When he doesn't steal it, hes just there.
Percy Montgomery probably came back a better player. I liked the old Percy who played in the late 90s though. He was much quicker and raw in a way. But I think he came back from the Dragons a better player. More recently Elton Jantjies had a good spell in Japan, maybe not for the BOKS but definitely for the LIONS. FRANCOIS Louw also got better after a stint overseas. I wouldn't say going overseas for our players is good for them, but some players can thrive. I'm a black South African who is totally against quotas, but lets not forget that we won the WORLD CUP in 2007 with Jake White and he too had to use quotas . Nobody called Beast a quota in 2009 when he was smashing the Lions, nobody called Habana a quota when he was killing backlines left right and centre. SA problems run deeper than that. If I was a coach I would not have played Habana last year at all, but I wouldn't call him a quota, I wouldn't've played JP Pietersen either. But they don't deserve that name tag. Our coach is a quota and so is Stick. If you watched the recent BOK tests only MAHOJE and MBONAMBI shouldn't have been there, so in essence how are two players messing up a teams results especially coz MBONAMBI was not even starting as STRUASS was our captain? NOTSHE has done well for the STORMERS n WP so I think he deserves his spot. However, don't think he is the best flank in SA and neither is NIZAAM CARR. POLITICAL interference is detrimental to our side though without a doubt. FUCK politics in our sport.
about time this guy gets a tribute! brilliant!
Thank you very much couldn't watch yesterday like you said and it's a brilliant tribute to an absolute tank of a man!
thanks mate, I feel the video is better now anyway :)
This guy is so beast, for me he is one the best number 8 to wear the green and gold. Also he looks like THOR, which just makes him look more boss.
Wow, 1:04 is easily one of the most hilarious displays of power I've seen on a televised rugby match.
7dayspking the other guy was tackling too high he deserved it
That's what it means to be "man-handled".
This doesn't get old!!
One does not simply stop Duane Vermeulen
1:07 Vermeulen using the Thor hammer.
Strong candidate for IRB player of the year.
Great compilation!
legend yster !!!!!
my new fave 8 for SA! total beast!
The only guy that can put Etzebeth in his place
probably the best number 8 these days

crazy thing is that 6 years later and he is still adding highlights that could be added to this reel
Fuck we need to be at hie beste on Saturday,, remba we scrapping matches,of u know ur rugby ull agree
Great Video
The hand off to the guy in the green 9 jersey 😂😂😂
When did he leave Asgard ?
Finally, a captain that leads from the front like Francois again!!!
This kid is made of something else!
welcome to RC TOULON !!!!! PILOU PILOU !!!
Awesome!!
cheers
Awesome job dude! Mamuka Gorgodze tribute next?
thanks man! Yeah he's a beast so I think I'll do one soon. Done a lot of forward tributes recently, so I might do one or two backs tributes next. Cheers for requesting.
This guy has such an amazing work rate
he's been unreal in the Rugby Championship this year, I may have to do a part 2 at the end of this year aha
Mothertrucker Jones He's been a beast. He was dudded for a great shot on the Wallaby pancake on the weekend though.
Mothertrucker Jones For sure dude!!!! Freakin love him! He will gladly take a bullet for his team. Him and Read are in a class of their own this year.
He's a strong man!!
piet steph we need your all today!!
No one talks about Pierre Spies anymore.
Because he has only played a few games of rugby in the last 2 years due to injury , he would've been backup to Thor was he not injured.
Pierre Spies was one of the most OVER-RATED players! He has NOTHING on Duane!!
Gary Concar Seriously it's funny how quickly people forget how good someone was when they see fit , I'm not saying he's better than Duane or that he ever will be but discounting his performances as one of the best running eight man's ever is a joke.
Personally, I never rated him, he never put his head down and went for it. He could have been so much better but he never had that extra edge.
Gary Concar I agree that Duane is a lot better, but Spies did have serious gas for an 8
He is in Thor mode absolutely every game.
nice videos bro +1 sub
Stephen Chate thanks man
actually he's the Best num 8 player in the world
and kieran read?
murcidoggystyleE He killed Read in both tests vs. the All Blacks this year.
but when it comes to skills, i think Kieran Read is far better than Vermeulen and i'm sure that im not the only one who believes the same.
murcidoggystyleE I think Read has the much better skillset but Thor (Duane) is probably the most powerful number 8 in the world
Doesn't help having skills if you get dominated physically , at the present moment based on recent games/this year Duane is the better player , the best player in the world is form based and not based on skill set.
Great player
Duane Vermeulen ~ Tribute | THOR Rugby Motivation
great player sad the boks are out...all their games were epic
HEROIC!!!!!
Can you make a Jamie Roberts tribute please? Great video btw
My favorite springbok
In times of war, I will salute him, just saying. 😁
THOR!
francois louw or bismarck du plessis.
Hey Man would love to see a tribute for Alex Goode , Elliot Daly and Chris Wyles
Goode and Wyles are possibilities, already done one for Daly! One of my favourite players aha
Ahhh I tried to watch it but it wouldn't let me
dayum, that was my first ever vid as well. Try using like a hotspot or something cos it's not available in some countries.
Do a tribute for Jarryd Hayne, incredible rugby league player
Dude I love Hayne but there was just a massive 11 minute video just made for him
Very good rugby player. He's playing to his strength. Imagine he had a Bobby Skinstad flair combined with his power. He would have been a Zinzan Brooke. However he is too one dimensional that's why he won't be regarded as an all time great
Would love to see how he'll fair against Henry Tuilagi or Opeti Fonua
cooper slater Well Henry is retired and Fonua is a fat lump.
He had a brilliant 2014. SA Rugby...not so much.
Dwyne reminds me the french player Sebastian Chabal totally destruction
If he was an All Black he would be touted as the best ever
Brian is 7mph faster than cheslin but cheslin would step his eye brows of
Not the flashiest player but puts in the hard yards good job Duane
Thor!!
Andy Powell smashed him.

Fair enough but I'd still have him over say... Sam Cane, who is an All Blacks 7
What ! Hahaha Never !
