The Power of Poetry returned. After a warmly received inaugural program, Verse 1 - The Sag Harbor Saints, The Church is excited to invite you to join us for the second iteration, Verse 2 - An Ode to Some Odes, as we explore the voices of three acclaimed poets: Paul Auster, Denis Johnson, and Sharon Olds.
This recurring program invites us to come together and celebrate poetry, the beauty of words, and the ability to capture the human experience with a community-driven poetry read-in. Each read-in will present a curated selection of poems stitched together by a common thematic thread. That thread this time around is the three poets featured within Some Odes, a small-scale exhibition running concurrently with our large-scale exhibition Some of Tom’s Typewriters. We invite you to read, listen, and think about the poetry in real-time in the main gallery amid the multidimensional exhibition within an exhibition.
