That was an interesting build - certainly (as someone else already said) building him as a beginner doesn't really work however you managed it anyway :) well done!

this seems pretty legit for Bond. Now I'm curious about other secret agent types like Bourne, John Wick etc

Well you've read the early books because you got his birth place correct.

Don't much care for the quickfire array because it gives you four to six stats that are below average, depending on how you arrange them. Random rolling is, as a general rule, going to be far more forgiving and far more likely to give you a good Bond array. As it is, he's small, weak, slow, and doesn't know very much.

      Fair enough, thanks for watching.

Personally I think the Character should have way better stats, James Bond is simply not a beginner. But I guess that is the problem with basically every iconic character, that the framework of RPGs with all the ableism simply does not capture to true essence of these characters.

Yeah I had to limit myself to the framework of the game!

Could be James Bond at the beginning of his career, iconic characters still need origin stories!
What part of this is ableism btw?

@@handleofvecna2443 The game designer John Wick had mad years ago a video in his Play Dirty series about power and characters that should be here still somewhere on TH-cam. The gist is that even younger versions of iconic characters are still usually far above starting characters (I used young Indiana Jones as example). And I agree with him in that regard. The second point in that same video is in the end it doesn't matter who powerful characters are, and that is why my ableism criticism comes in. The stories we tell should not be about what characters can do, but what they are willing to do. I think John Wick took Batman es an example for this. We are simply rather ableist when all we do is always tell stories about how capable the characters are, but too rarely explore why characters want to do things, how their decisions shape them, and all that jazz that is the core of every fiction in every other medium.

@Drudenfusz I'm super confused about what you're arguing for here.
You say we should focus not on characters abilities but rather their motivations, sure OK I can get behind that. But rules only cover mechanics, i.e. abilities, motivation is up to the players. Ability scores are already somewhat arbitrary abstractions, and by your own argument of focus shouldn't be important anyways, so why does it matter if iconic characters are "better than average" even when starting out? Shouldn't the important part be their motivations according to your beliefs?
As for the ableism piece you really lost me. Ableism is a form of discrimination that favors able-bodied people. I don't see anyone being discriminated against in any of this.

@@handleofvecna2443 My beliefs? You seem to be indeed very confused. The motivations are not really what I am about, the still relevant part will be how the character is expressed. That has nothing to do with me or my beliefs, that is how fiction works! Character traits are also not unimportant, quite the opposite actually, but the way most games are designed is flawed, since it is not about who the character is, but only what they are capable of doing. And that is why they design is ableist, it discriminates usually people who are lack certain capabilities. You can see that especially well in systems that allow characters to perform certain actions only when they have an appropriate skill, talent, feat or whatever. I mean, just look at the backlash at things like the combat wheelchair. Sorry, most games are just intrinsically based on ableism, and to pretend that would not be the case for whatever ideology you are following is not helpful to make our hobby better.
