While in the past, the creators would alluded to digital records being compromised as the rational behind the shows timeline being so far off reality, this is no longer the cannon reason as this video massively missed a huge factor. There are 3 primary timelines active. The original covers most of the shows and movies in cannon prior to 2010's. The original timeline split off into two paths with one the result of the events of the modern movies (referred to the Kelvin Timeline) and the ladder the result a plot involving time travel in Strange New Worlds. The timeline of Discovery, Strange New Worlds, and Lower Deck as a result of said event are now the official primary timeline. Lower Decks takes place very shortly after the safe return of the Voyager crew to the Alpha Quadrant. The crew have run in with several key members of all of the 90's shows confirming despite the timeline manipulation events in Strange New Worlds by the time Starfleet is founded the timeline mostly reconnects to the original cannon. The ending of Lower Decks involves a massive lore event which fundamentally changes the entirety of the cannon. Since Picard takes place after the years that Lower Decks takes place, without mention of Lower Deck's major cannon event in the finale, the events of Picard likely only took place in the older cannon with no parallel having taken place in the new main cannon. While we cannot confirm this, the rush at the end of the video failed to mention the coming "Starfleet Academy" series (in production, likely air before the end of 2026) is way ahead in the future with the only way to provide a cameo is via the Emergency Hologram character from Voyage. The series is sited to take place after events which occurred in Discovery so very likely to be in the main cannon. So, this will be the first show to take place following the events of Lower Decks which also take place after the period of time Picard ran which will confirm if Picard is officially old cannon timeline or both.
This year and prob next year me and my husband decided it was time to rewatch ALL of every star Trek Series from the beginning. Going to be a great way to celebrate 60 years of Trek.
Ryan, you gotta look up the definitions of 'ancestor' and 'descendant'. Adam Soong is the ancestor of Arik and Noonien, not their descendant. The Founders are the shapeshifters in charge of the Dominion. The Progenitors are the ancient race that seeded life in the Milky Way.
As a DS9 fan the Founder/Progenitor mixup was a bit jarring but the TNG Progenitor and the Female Changeling were played by the same actress so perhaps that's where the confusion arose?
Agreed, their crew is stacked and the stories they can tell with a former Borg as the captain would be wonderful storytelling. Also, the idea of what a legacy is. I'm hoping with the end of Lower Decks: Season 5 we are slowing setting up more opportunities for Legacy, Academy, and the years to come.
@austenedman8430 I'm not excited for academy, that future universe isn't my jam really, discovery had good ideas and some good crew, but they made it a prequel, they should of just had it in the linear place for me, then it wasn't a prequel it was a future! The orville was pretty good! Maybe get seth mcfarlane and some real trek fans involved in the creation. I like with trek that the actors get the chances to direct and it really pushes them onto more.. Excited for section 31 massively tho
Nah, what Trek really needs is more *new* characters and ideas. Same goes for Star Wars. All the excessive rehashing and revisiting of old stuff needs to end.
@@gavinthegoliath Yes, Discovery was a mixed bag for many of us...though that's partly because it also involved some unfortunate use of old ideas, such as the mirror universe. Whether it's old ideas, new, or a mix of both, I suppose I should've stated the obvious that there's also an even more crucial factor: *quality of execution*. 😅 Of course, that's largely subjective. Speaking for myself, Strange New Worlds does a great job of blending a few old elements and motifs with lots of creative and well-executed new ideas.
Good overview, though theres a couple minor errors, really only one I would add a correction to is the very end, the Progenitors (supposedly) created the tech they are looking for not the Founders... this might be confusing for some because the Founders are a named race, have similar makeup and the female progenitor was played by the actress who played the female founder.
One of my favorite star trek episodes of all time is "The Chase" from the next generation where Picards old archeologist teacher/friend wants him to join him on his secret expedition. And at the end they end up finding a hologram message from the founders/ literal creators of all sentient life in the universe lol it's a beautiful message at the end
Great video! I first became a Trek fan at the age of 6 watching TOS reruns in the mid 70's. I have been a fan ever since 🖖🖖 I got to take a picture at a Con with William Shatner. 😁😁
i was a bit suspicious of your trek cred when you left out tellarites out of the founding members of federation, but when you said that ds9 was your favourite trek show, i was sold on it! 😂❤ edit: also garak and lower decks ❤
So much amazing Star Trek universe summarized in a fabulous way. Would have loved to see comparison of the Plummers, transparent aluminum, and other Easter eggs that were across series. Kinda surprised you didn’t cover section 31 references in the various series. Love your work.
Yay!!! More star trek please!!! I started watching your channel when you did easter eggs for picard season 1. I'd love another video for the new section 31 film.
You all nailed it. The only thing I might've squeezed in would've been what we knew about the Temporal Cold War - linking Enterprise, kinda Voyager, and Discovery.
Spock's legacy is thankfully in good hands with the Okudas at the Rodenberry Archive. More people are getting aware of it and are blown away by the accuracy. Star Trek is spiritually owned by a Roddenberry.
I always saw the main timeline as TOS, TNG-First Contact +DS9-Dominion War, Enterprise, Discovery- End of Season 2, Strange New Worlds, then when we catch back up to TOS time, we jump back to TNG-Post First Contact till end, DS9 till End, Voyager, Lower Decks, Picard, Discovery Season 3-End. This is because Enterprise directly mentions First Contact and borg, and the tech in Discovery and SNW seems more advanced than TOS, and stealing from future technology would explain the alteration in technological advancement and smaller timeline alterations, like the inclusion of Spock's siser in Discovery, but not mentioned in the reboot movie from '09.
DS9 is best Trek. The story arcs were unheard of, they didn't treat audiences as if they were brain dead & other than 2st season, amazing stories throughout. Good Review
Well done, I enjoyed that! I haven't watched Discovery, doesn't appeal, and wasn't a fan of the reboot of the films either. But the original timeline is amazing, and I do hope they will some day continue it. I started watching Star Trek as a little boy way back in the mid '70s.
Tellarites were also a founding member of the Federation. Granted, they are to the Federation what Alexander is to Worf in that you'd think they'd be important, but they aren't.
Enterprise B and C histories as well as the timewar that enterprise was all about. But all in all a wonderful recap. Loved seeing yall live in LA recently. Much wonderful adventures to you and your crew as you bodly explore popculture..
Agree about STIV...I think it is the most rewatchable of all the movies. STVI then First Contact are my next two. Agree about SNW...love that show but the fanboy in me loves Picard S3 the most. As far as DS9 being the best live action of all time...those first few seasons are a real slog but it definitely picks up once they get the Defiant.
You left out the original animated series, where we got some additional backstory on Spock and how the Kelvin Timeline is not consistent in all the new shows.
Progenitors were the first humanoids, the founders were the Dominion shape shifters. I know having the same actress makes that easy to confuse. Just my bit of Trekkie “well actually”. 😊

As a life-long Trekkie, myself, I have to say that someone did their homework.
That's an incredible summation of hundreds of years of Star Trek history! Truly impressive.
No it’s not. He got so much wrong. Tilly is NOT a doctor. wtf is that? He left out the tellarites as founding members of the federation.
@@KorintheCatnot to mention an entire live action series. lol
Your comment about Guinan giving better advise than Troi is the greatest thing about this entire video.
The split-second "Not you" at Pulaski was perfection
Ancestors are people who came before you in your family, while descendants are people who come after you.
I was just about to ask, does he mean defendant instead of ancestor?
This year and prob next year me and my husband decided it was time to rewatch ALL of every star Trek Series from the beginning. Going to be a great way to celebrate 60 years of Trek.
For the next 6 years of life xD
I'm up to DS9 season 1
Beautiful!! - I wish you would cover more Star Trek projects!!
Ryan, you gotta look up the definitions of 'ancestor' and 'descendant'. Adam Soong is the ancestor of Arik and Noonien, not their descendant.
The Founders are the shapeshifters in charge of the Dominion. The Progenitors are the ancient race that seeded life in the Milky Way.
he did it with La'an as well
As a DS9 fan the Founder/Progenitor mixup was a bit jarring but the TNG Progenitor and the Female Changeling were played by the same actress so perhaps that's where the confusion arose?
Wouldn’t be Trekkies without technical corrections in the comments 🤘🏼
Which Trek is your favorite?
It will always be Deep Space Nine. Love the characters.
Ds9
TNG
*DS9*
Definitely DS9 for me. The Star Trek that's coming out now just can't compete in my opinion.
This is QUITE a big undertaking, Doug. You crushed it
Give us Seven and Legacy. We need that series, the franchise needs it.
Agreed, their crew is stacked and the stories they can tell with a former Borg as the captain would be wonderful storytelling. Also, the idea of what a legacy is. Nah, what Trek really needs is more *new* characters and ideas. Same goes for Star Wars. All the excessive rehashing and revisiting of old stuff needs to end.
@DavidCDrake discovery had that amd it got largely panned. I loved the spore drive and some of the new aspects of that show.
@@gavinthegoliath Yes, Discovery was a mixed bag for many of us...though that's partly because it also involved some unfortunate use of old ideas, such as the mirror universe. And after the summary … I’m like… I’ve seen it all, multiple times and I need more !! I’m gonna rewatch the last seasons of Picard and discovery
16:57
"They have like, the same face!"
"Nah.. I don't see it"
I LOVE that joke
Absolutely gutted Lower decks has ended.
I was convinced that there was no way to summarize Star Trek in less than 30 minutes but he did it.
I did not know I needed this!
I am sooo happy someone mentioned burnham's whispering. I liked that series but the whispering was maddening.
9:44 La'an Noonien-Singh is a descendant of Khan, not his ancestor.
He did the same thing when talking about Alan Soong
What did we leave out, that should have stayed in?
* *clears throat* *
* *arranges notes* *
* *opens powerpoint* *
Adira was non binary along with their actor. They even made it a plot point.
That one time Janeway and Paris turned into salamanders, got bizzay, and had babies.
the definition of "ancestor" and "descendant"
For the Voyager crew you mentioned Neelix but not Tuvok or Harry Kim?
12:40 is the noise I made while skipping the Discovery section
Wow!!! I knew there was a lot, but Wow...that was a lot! I'll have to re-watch this a time or two to get it all! Thanks!
I took it as a joke. Because the woman who played the Progenitors is the same actor who played the Founder.
It’s not “Worf’s kid is not important right now” it should be “Worf’s kid is not important.”
Prodigy was a fantastic gateway drug, my son loves it. Please make a season 3.
Ryan thank you for everything you guys are doing. This is exactly why the internet exists. ❤
This an excellent summary of all things Star Trek. I also think that Deep Space Nine is the best Star Trek series!
Thank you!!!!!!!!
Great vid. Thanks for the hard work to put this together.
Great job on the summary. The Lower aDecks, Strange New worlds crossover is sooo good, I have watched it at least a dozen times.
Tom from Voyager wasn't the only one who looked like someone from TNG, so did Tuvok...
The character Tim Russ played in Starship Mine was actually an undercover tuvok
@@isoroxuk He ain't found sh*t
DS9 is the best Star Trek Show for me.......Prodigy comes in close 2nd.... ❤️❤️
LOVE LOVE LOVE it when you cover ST!! Thanks Ryan!!
🙌 All of the Star Treks 🙌
This was some love and passion that went into this. I loved it and will definitely watch and comment again!
This is SPOT ON! Thanks for this. I couldn't wait to share it!
I gotta say, Screen Crush always delivers even when we're not expecting. I really needed this recap!
One of my favorite star trek episodes of all time is "The Chase" from the next generation where Picards old archeologist teacher/friend wants him to join him on his secret expedition. GREAT JOB! DEFINITELY SHARING
"Trekkies. What's it all about?"
SC: "We got you, Fam!"
Great video! I first became a Trek fan at the age of 6 watching TOS reruns in the mid 70's. I have been a fan ever since 🖖🖖 I got to take a picture at a Con with William Shatner. 😁😁

Kinda surprised you didn’t cover section 31 references in the various series.
Love your work.
Please make more Star Trek content! You do such a great job with it!
This was AMAZING and AWESOME in every way. And yes, we can all agree, Legacy needs to be made at all costs.
Yay!!! More star trek please!!! I started watching your channel when you did easter eggs for picard season 1. I'd love another video for the new section 31 film.
This is the content we need!
You should try talking about the other timelines such as Star Trek online
It's not often I consider the ark of the entire universe, not separated by the series. Very cool.
Well done! 👍
Great recap! Just finished watching DS9 in order - so good! Time for Voyager! ❤ Janeway out
My mom was a huge Trekkie growing up, but I never really got into it, except for Lower Decks. I love that show! Prodigy on nickelodeon was alright too
Amazing thank you 🙌🏻
Me getting in to STO and wanting a "star trek series/movie recap" video.
>Enter ScreenCrush
I was waiting for the "Somehow Palpatine returned" clip
Well, in Picard season 3, somehow the Borg Queen returned.
You all nailed it. The only thing I might've squeezed in would've been what we knew about the Temporal Cold War - linking Enterprise, kinda Voyager, and Discovery.
Great timing. I just got paramount plus over this recent winter break. And I tried strange new worlds and it's awesome. So now I'm trying discovery
Only 4 more Discovery episodes so I can watch this video. After a year and 4 months in my Star Trek journey 😊
I thought this one would be trash cuz how could you summarize all of Star Trek but you nailed it. Love you!
You could do a video covering Spock's vast character arc from his birth to his long remembered legacy.
Nice to see this re-release with updated material. Let us never speak of Discovery again.
This is awesome , I need to catch up on so much
Brilliant❤❤
And they said it couldn't be done...
Nailed it!
DS9 is best Trek.
The story arcs were unheard of, they didn't treat audiences as if they were brain dead & other than 2st season, amazing stories throughout.
Good Review
Great review, but you forgot to mention that Discovery was just a dream

Damn, that was concise for 30+ seasons of TV and 13 movies
Awesome! ❤🎉
The video I didn't know I needed
Tellarites were also a founding member of the Federation. Granted, they are to the Federation what Alexander is to Worf in that you'd think they'd be important, but they aren't.
Michael does whisper a lot but I still love her! 😂
THANK YOU! For me, and for the fact I can maybe make my sons interested now they know everything!
Was this video released in the past and now re released with the ad for the game inserted?
15:33 Crooked Ferengi is redundant 😂
Seven of Nine joined the "Fenris Rangers".
You missed the Tellarites as founding members.
Star Trek Generations is the most important movie of the series.
Are you in my VHS player? How do you know I needed this?
"Don't you want me I like I want you, Baby!"
"Oh! I think I feel a Pon Far coming on."
Enterprise B and C histories as well as the timewar that enterprise was all about. But all in all a wonderful recap. Loved seeing yall live in LA recently. Much wonderful adventures to you and your crew as you bodly explore popculture..

I’ve to admit that even ST prodigy gave me more fun and joy than I expected
Star Trekin' across the universe!
LOWER DECKS! LOWER DECKS! 🎉 17:40
Quick correction:
It's "Descendant of"... not "ancestor of"
....twice
A follow up to TNG’s S1E25 “Invasion” would be great. that episode really was horror trek
How dare you cut before the TNG title card warp burst. LOL. Still the best opening credits ever.
Progenitors were the first humanoids, the founders were the Dominion shape shifters. I know having the same actress makes that easy to confuse. Just my bit of Trekkie “well actually”. 😊
Excellent
That was tight!
Where the heck is Enterprise ?
I cannot believe that the scene you those for 7 of 9 as the best, IS NOT THE INFAMOUS NEW YORK CHEESECAKE SCENE XD
