Not stupid. We don't care, we need everything that is trending or what is in vogue. We want it know, gimme that it's mine. Life isn't complicated, we have made it complicated. We live in a consumer environment, we consume on the go.
Look at the young population, it's humongous, and potentially leads to earn money for big and small businesses.

      I mean...It's different.
So I think...pretending there's a world where you have to either have afterpay or a credit card, and you cannot have either.
The downside of a credit card is that you can keep spending past the point where you're no longer able to make your payments. The downside of afterpay is that if you miss a payment, you will be unable to make any necessary purchases until you repay that payment. And that can be difficult for some if their purchases have to be time sensitive.

Credit card is for building credit score. Helps with larger purchases mortgage, finance car, renting etc. If you're responsible with your money there's no real reason not to use one. It's simply an indicator of how trustworthy and reliable you are. At some point down the line it'll come in handy. Other perks include reimbursement, for example if you bought a plane ticket before covid, if you put it on the CC you call the CC company and get a refund, if you bought it on debit you'd be out of money and at best get a voucher from an airline.

    (1) You can still wind up in debt through this deferred payment system. I'd argue it's actually probably EASIER to fall behind on these payments than a normal credit card. People don't naturally think in terms of "I make X dollars per week, therefore I can afford to spend (X-Y) dollars per week."
    (2) If you fall behind, you lose access to your spending tool. You can't buy groceries if you fall behind on your Apple Watch payments.

It’s better than a credit card because if you don’t pay, you can’t buy more. You need to pay faster. A credit card balance can last for years with continuous interest charge.

Alot of people in the comments write this company off as another credit card company. Yes they are a credit card company but they are helping consumers AVOID getting into spiralling debt by managing their cash flows and PREVENTING them from falling behind on payments instead of just adding fees on top of fees. That's a good service millenials need which is why they're doing so well.

Charging the merchants and not the consumer in the end is essentially charging the consumer. The consumer will be charged more for the product by the merchant to offset their commissions to “after pay”. I still see this as a losing situation for the consumer...

@@sandrarobertson8787 they charge a fee for the service of helping customers avoid getting into debt that spirals. And it's working that's why there is so much hype around the company. If they were just another loan shark they wouldn't be so hyped up.

This concept is not new. Banks like Citibank and HSBC have been offering buy now pay later for years in Asia. You can pay in installment for up to 2 years without any interest and you also get rewards. How is this different?
