I had the same reaction face as you at the start of her cleans, it was right out of the blue. I’ve heard her in the previous band, but never with Arch Enemy…I was a firm believer they were harsh only. But this has song has moved them to a new level in my estimation, allowing Allysa to showcase her vocal talents more…it’s going to be a great move for the band. I loved this song, it was absolutely amazing from everyone.
@@seanofarrell8896 I read that somewhere, about another song with cleans...AE aren't known for those type of vocals. But it gives them another dimension to their already stacked talents. The drummer is always mental on the kit, the guitar solos are epic in this one. The whole song is a a complete hit for me.
@@Gobbi26 I like the change ever band trys new things. Gutair etc still slams. I would put this song as my favourite out of the singles plus I think it's the most solos they have in the solo. Arch enemy rocks
@@seanofarrell8896 some changes don't work out, but it shows the evolution of the band and their willingness to keep going...even though they might be out of their comfort zone. I would agree, it's up there with one of my favourites...and I can't recall a song with more solos than this one.
I heard her singing in the song "Reason to belive" (by Arch Enemy), but this one surprised me anyway. So amazing. I love it. And by the way - "Reason to belive" is definitely softer then this one, so check it out if you are curious :)

So psyched for the album, and my Deceiver Deceiver shirt just arrived too. Yeah, the cleans were awesome. If you get the chance, listen to the Kamelot live Liar Liar and Sacrimony on a streaming service from the album; Alissa and Elize are more forward in the mix than the TH-cam videos, especially Alissa's background harsh in Liar Liar
What I love about this band is they keep it traditional. You should check out Monochromatic Black. Great female led upcoming. And also The Acacia Strain song One Thousand Painful Stings ft. Courtney from Spiritbox.

Geez and I thought House of Mirrors as great this is the Best Arch Enemy song in a long long time. I want them to experiment more with Alissa's awesome cleans. Based on these first three singles I am ready to preorder the new album and like where they are going musically.

Alissa singing clean with Arch is kinda new yes. But if you take the time and check out her on Canadian idle or even with her older group before she joined Arch Enemy back. (Thank you pain) Alissa does a mix of clean as well.

with all due respect, "its super long, 5 minutes and 44 seconds" isnt really that long in the metal genre. just from the top of my head, Iced Earth's Dante's Inferno is 16 minutes and 26 seconds long xD
No matter how much I try to listen to Arch Enemy, I can't get the female growling, not for my ears. Here I first heard her clean vocal, and it's really incomparable. Now, if she always sang with clean vocal, it would be top-notch. And so, growling does not suit her.

I like the mixture of cleans and harsh in the song gutairs and drums always crazy. A reason to believe was the only other song with cleans. Song slams
