I grew up in Portsmouth. I left in 2017 and haven't been back. I hated that place, it's gone to hell and continues to go to hell but watching this makes me cry cos I do miss it sometimes. All of my family is there.

I grew up around the Porstmouth area in Lucasville. I left after graduation and visit frequently because my entire family is still there. The area has been devastated but hopefully new younger generations can make it a come back from the "Big Fish Small Pond" leaders of the past and the destruction they caused by their slow response to progress. If you can see past the blight it's so beautiful. The scenery in the area would make. a wonderful road trip destination.

An historic town in a beautiful setting. Beloved relatives lived in South Portsmouth so I spent many summer days visiting in the 1950's and 1960's. May God bless the folks of Portsmouth and lead them into better days to come.

I grew up there from 1962 until 77 when I moved to California. Many fond memories there as a kid, but glad I got out when I did. That once great town has been slowly dying since the mill and the rest of the factories closed down, and I'm afraid that the poverty and suffering will never end. Most of my best childhood memories at places like Dreamland and The Hamburger Inn no longer exist, and while it has a lot of natural beauty, most of the people I grew up with there are also long gone for greener pastures. I sometimes think about selling my home in the west and retiring in Portsmouth, but then I think about all of the crime and drugs they have now that weren't around when I lived there, and I decide against it. Thanks for the video.

It is getting better. Slowly but surely. We will never give up. The old guard is being brought down so there's a lot of progress being made now. We need all the good people we can get.

❤Your video here ❤ i was able to follow and know right where you were at the whole video. Ive lived my whole life almost right off fairground rd. Ive been reminiscing alot this past year as we are in the process of selling our property and moving... Theres alot i will miss i know, and some things i wont miss at all. When you stopped at your old place i about cried, i know that will be me in less then 6 months. Only our house will be torn down down, and ill be looking at an empty lot. Ive loved our property for 35 years, ive lived here since i was 4, so alot of great things happened right here in this house and on this property. It makes me sad to know this chapter of life is over. Anyways, thanks for making your video. The music was perfect for it too... God Bless and happy travels!

Your childhood home looked like it used to be a nice little place.
You can tell it was all brand new and then someone let it go.
Looks like it could even be cleaned up and lived in once again.
I still live in the Burg area.

My Uncle in Florida resided there for a few years with his elder sister and family after immigrating to the US in 1972/73ish and he showed me beautiful retro photos of that town from 1973-1979 in his photo album and now unfortunately the economy had died down there and drugs have become a major issue as well and that's what exploited that once a beautiful little town across the river from Kentucky in the beautiful wilderness of Southern Ohio, another funny thing and coincidence was that he actually lived in neighboring Parkersburg, WV for a period of time too lol and showed me retro photos of there in the early to mid 80s I think….

I grew up in New Boston. Graduated in 1987. Our area was poor then due to the loss of jobs from the steel mill and the coke plant, but it pales in comparison to today. It breaks my heart. Of course, it's just coming to light, 49 years later, that our major elected officials were corrupt as hell and let many good opportunities for jobs get away from the area.

Key word used to be. If we can get all the counseling centers out and get all new judges and lawyers it would be decent but the main thing is to get Shawnee State University out of Portsmouth it has ruined the town !!!!!!

Absolutely Portsmouth isn’t big enough for a college they should have put on the outskirts of town my grandma and grandpa said the same thing when it was being built they said it would ruin Portsmouth and now looking at the town 40 years later they were absolutely right have a great day nice video you did a awesome job!!
