Awesome to see you doing a collaboration with your brother again. I used to watch Brothers Green a lot, and I actually did the $21 week of food challenge years ago. I managed to spend the exact same amount you did, and it was a great way to stretch my creativity. I'd love to do it again, but $21 for a week of food seems really difficult in today's economy. I'd love to see an updated version, but I know that's not your thing now.
You and your brother showed me not to be scared of cooking. I discovered you two when I first left the house to study. Now people comment on how good my food is and I love cooking for my family. THANK YOU!
You and your brother were the earliest cooking creators I really fucked with on YT. You guys made me fall in love with cooking like a decade ago and it’s never stopped. Hell I still save chicken thigh bones and cook em like wings every so often hahaha
It’s crazy how fast time flies by. I’m 30 and have been watching both of your videos since my very early 20’s. I might’ve even been 20 when I came across your channel. I always felt like I could connect with a lot of the statements you make. I need to start reading more, so I’ll be checking out those books! Thank you for being you and letting your voice be heard. It’s a breath of fresh air and I know I’m not the only one who needed this today. ✌️🌞
@@YOUENJOYLIFE I’ve got two hours of bus riding today, so I’ll be starting the first book. I watched your video with Mike and I’ve always wanted to make ginger beer. I’ll be getting your fermentation book soon too! That aside, I would love to learn the differences between using a ginger bug and other yeast for the brews. I’m wondering what goes into making alcoholic vs non-alcoholic ginger beer. What flavors are best to add and what ratios to use. The information I can find online is confusing. If you or any viewers who are reading this can help point me in the right direction, I’d greatly appreciate it! Thanks for all of your help in the past, present and future!
maybe I can shed a bit of light on this for you - ginger bug is just using the microbes naturally present on the ginger to ferment the sugars naturally in the ginger, the resulting ginger bug is considered non-alcoholic, but in reality is actually slightly alcoholic similar to kombucha (usually around 0.5%abv). Alcoholic ginger beer will be in the 4+% abv range, and requires supplemental sugar (and likely additional yeast - youll notice the bros add a commercial yeast pitch to the beer they make to ferment all that sugar from the grains) to achieve the alcohol. The sugar can come from any source: honey, fruit, sucrose, dextrose, malt or whatever. Flavours are subjective, I would suggest start simple with the basic ginger flavour only and learn the process of fermenting and once you get a bit familiar, begin playing around with it. It is in the same way as bread can be made from sourdough starter, or commercial dry active bread yeast. Both can make delicious bread, but they make different bread and behave differently and require different treatment. hope this helps some and once you start making and enjoying some products it will make even more sense. enjoy @@lsdxm
I’m so happy this update was suggested by YT, maybe the “bubbles” algorithms aren’t all bad. 😅 Happy to see you’re doing well, wishing you and your family all the best in the future. Collaborations with your brother will always be appreciated, I’m sure many of us miss seeing you together, but you put your well-being and your brotherly relationship before what we as fans love to see.
I started watching Pro Home Cooks during lockdown and only recently found out about Brothers Green. I loved finding all the old videos on Pro Home Cooks. You guys are amazing to watch. God Bless you both and best wishes to your new baby when she or he arrives 🥰 xx.
It's great to see both of you brothers seeing success (2 different kinds of success)...Mike is having lots of success financially with his channel Pro Home cooks and Josh, it seems like you have done a lot of soul searching, learning about life, learning about yourself and you seem happier now.
Loved the collab video with your brother - but love your individual work too. I got your book Fermenting with Your Best Friend and I highly recommend others get the book. Keep up the great work and enjoy being you - I know I enjoy being me.
You and Mike have been a huge part of my food journey. I’ve been growing food for going on 7 years, too. Right now, I’m seeing food as medicine and learning a lot. I had a mentorship session with you a few years ago and it was lovely. It was early in your post-Bros Green life and it’s been wonderful to watch you evolve. Thank you for these words, today. It’s hard to remember that loss, pain and grief are part of growing, when you’re right in the middle of it. I needed to hear that reminder. Congrats on being a dad. 💖
It was awesome seeing you two on camera together again but we understand the growing you both needed to do. Great to hear that your brotherhood is stronger now. It's easy to see how much you both love and admire each other and as a fan I'm so happy you haven't lost that.
Nice to see you, Josh :) longtime lover of Brothers Green and beyond. I love what your brother has done with the channel and the peace you seek and find in your life. I followed you both for a while but lost track of you at some point, I imagine during one of your transitions, so it’s nice to see you pop back up on my feed. I appreciate that you hop topics and evolve. That you can step away from things that no longer serve you. I, too, have made a few similar transitions in my life journey. While there’s usually an adjustment period, it ultimately feels good to feel alignment in my life. Cheers to you - I’m glad you are right where you want to be!
Glad for the update! You have clearly headed down a path that is good for your soul and well being. It was nice to see you and your brother together as well. Enjoy the journey.
What a beautiful video from a beautiful man. I'm so happy to see you yourself and to not be a created character like you said you were at the end of BGE. Been a viewer for ten years on that channel and have absolutely been keeping you in my mind and chekcing out your videos every so often and am constantly inspired by your journey. When I have the funds available, I'll be buying the fermentation books and probably others too.
Saw a post on instagram, watched the nostalgic collab, now I’m here. Will be purchasing the book. Thank you for entertaining us, teaching us, and learning with us for so many years.
What I love about you is you always try and discover truth and wisdom, and see the world in a unique way and don’t conform. Going to check out your books
Thank you for making this video. I always wondered what happened with regards to Brothers Green. Your explanation makes a ton of sense; as we grow older, we do change, and grow, and evolve. The world is huge, and life is limitless, it makes a lot of sense for someone to want to step away from the old and into the new, onto their own path. I rarely watch videos from this channel because some of the topics do not interest me personally, but I still have notifications turned on because I was a big fan of your Brothers Green work and I enjoy watching you still and being a part of your journey. Again, thank you for this video and all of your other videos, and congrats on becoming a father. I look forward to seeing more videos from you, even if I do not watch them all.
Hey Yoshua, I really do relate with your philosophy, just wanted to say thank you for being yourself all this while. To see someone walking a similar path in life can be so happy and content reminds me that im not alone in this journey at all
Thank you for sharing your view with us - we were yearning for this. I followed you Green Brothers already years ago. But somehow I never thought the two of you had had a bad "breakup". Which showed when the two of you did your last show together: There was no tension, no hard feelings. Please TO THE BOTH OF YOU: You are a ROLE MODEL on how family relations should be dealing with different life views: Be there for each other (in need), but let loose to discover your individual self - with no regret (from anyone you love).
Brothers Green is what inspired to me to start cooking many many years ago, Thanks so much Josh! I now cook for my family and myself regularly and it's been a very rewarding and fun part of my life all these years so far
I really needed to see this. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I had just finished the video you did on your brothers channel and saw your comment and I'm so glad I did and found your channel cause this video really hit home for me. Cause I know you felt the same sensation I did...we are all one. Conciousness is one being and this whole concept of life is basically the universe experiencing itself.
@@YOUENJOYLIFE can I ask how you made the decision to make the leap? Cause I've been feeling stuck too...these past 4 years especially. And I know a change would be good but I don't exactly know where to aim my energy if that makes sense and am fearful of losing the income and health insurance.
I loved that video you made with your brother after 4 years. I started watching you guys many years ago. Glad I found your channel as well... I'll be coming back!
I liked the balance of you with your insights and spirituality along with your brother's practicality and being down to earth. You keep him from being too boring, and he keeps you from being too out there. It is easier to relate to both of you together. Then there was the dynamic of the relationship where there was the tension in a competitive brotherly way that added drama. Even though it was a successful formula, maybe you did have to walk away for a while for other reasons like bad relationships. Maybe you can still come back and rekindle it even for a few episodes here and there. I liked your creativity along with Mike's ability to make it make sense and come out as a product with a series of steps.
I loved your food videos. I learned so much from both of you. I know have 5 gallons of continuous brew kombucha using your brothers .pdf setup. Thank you for improving my life in big positive ways and you don't even know me. I am glad you found peace and purpose to live. It was obvious you were not happy. Be well sir.
He just did a brand new video with his brother on Pro Home Cooks like an hour ago.. I found this channel when I was curious if other people llike walking barefoot too. I had no idea for months he was from Brothers Green Eats or Pro Home Cooks. One day he mentioned it and I was like, What? No way!
You explained it All beautifully. You are a wise, calm soul. Glad you and your brother are tight, family is everything. I can't wait to read all your tations!, look forward to that. A pleasure to listen to you. Please figure a way to do an audio tape for sale sharing your life thoughts on food and all that you have come to learn, I enjoy listening to you. All the best!
Loved to see you with Mike. Thanks for your response. I to walked away from (a life). People called me crazy. 5 years now of breathing life. I enjoy life again & myself
I'm from Spain, 26, I started cooking watching your videos when I was really young, they were different and special, the only ones I enjoyed. Today I have my own business (burgers) and keep following pro home cooks but I didn't know anything about you! I'm glad you guys get on well and hope everything continuous going well for you, I can see you are in a good moment of your life.
I have such respect for you and your brother. Two sharing humans following their paths respectively. You both give so much to all of us, I appreciate you both. 🤗🫶🏻😎 wishing you much peace & happiness.
i kinda figured something “broke” between you brothers. I stood by my comment from years ago when you guys “broke up” channel-wise that it’s better to keep your brotherhood than business partnership. Everybody needs to find their own ways in the world and be yourself.
Somehow the algorithm skipped me and I missed your collab on pro home cooks and this update video! Congrats on becoming a father, I'm gonna be an auntie come November and I couldn't be more excited. Been watching you guys for a long long time, you taught me so much when I was starting out leaving home and I'll always be grateful for the old videos in the tiny kitchen. And as someone who made some TH-cam videos back in the day I understand the persona that builds and how inauthentic it feels. Anyway, I'm so happy knowing you guys are still close and see each other, even if the distance makes it hard. It's the same with me and my sister. Much love from England, you'll always have a supporter in me no matter where you go! Peace 🙏
I completely agree with you when you say "food is a practice and meditation." I worked in fine dining for many years and as much as I loved the cooking and high energy level, it was the prep work that gave me such a calming, peaceful feeling. I may only have been chopping vegetables or creating sauces but it was as though I was putting part of myself into it. So fulfilling. Even now, I use cooking more to relax and find self-enjoyment than I do anything else.
I learned to cook from your channel back in college. As a musician/ food lover who is fascinated by buddhism the last 6 years your message on being able to walk away from things and be present and let them go is ringing true as a good reminder.
I’m just happy to see you both living your dreams & getting closer as brothers! All the best to you in your journey 🥰 I trust that you’re book has been well thought out & can be trusted. I’ll definitely buy a copy.
Ive always loved your creativity with food and the way you combined dif cuisine. I was always so inspired when watching Brothers Green and looked forward to videos with you in it. Your spontaneity and creativity really came through. I still make some of your recipes and incorporate some of your ideas when cooking. I’m glad you are well and thanks 🙏
When I went through a divorce I had to feed my daughter on my own. She hated my food. As a 3 year old she voiced it, which is pretty hilarious in hindsight. I found brothers green and I really enjoyed your “bob Ross happy accident” style of cooking and teaching. Fast forward, I’m the main cook for my family. I look forward to getting off work and making something fun and delicious and hopefully healthy for my family everyday. Your work gave me an avenue to my greatest passion/hobby and I appreciate that and honestly I’ll never forget it. Thank you
as an native american, we can recognise the people who honor the land. I can tell you are grateful to the area and land around you!! I wish everyone could connect this well to the native land. Please continue to follow your heart and keep the love of the land inside you.I miss brothers green, as i watched it alot during my younger years but I also understand how time can iron out who we aren't and mold us into who we truly want to be!
Yoshua i just wanted to let you know that your Video "Beginners Guide To Cooking - Learn The Basics" really was the absolute Foundation for me to cook. I've never stopped and it has improved my life tremendously, thanks for that
Beautiful!! Heart warming. Thanks for sharing 🙏. Love your perspective! Loved brothers green and the evolution of you both. Love the authenticity. Best wishes.🙏💕
Hey Josh, thanks for posting! This video found me at the perfect time, and ive since watched several of your other videos - loving the spontaneity, genuineness and the wise words. Take care out there and keep it up ❤
I will always think back to when i watched a video by Brother’s Green, but it was just an hour long video of you, uncut, just cooking and explaining what you were doing, teaching the basic concepts of cooking. It is what got me to really begin to be creative in the kitchen, and view cooking a meal from an artisitic lens. I am an artist at heart and it really helped me to incorporate food into the artistic process. A meal is a sculpture. A meal can be a masterpiece. Thank you for your influence and input in those videos. Thank you for your words in this video. You are once again giving words of wisdom and guiding me, but now in ways outside of the kitchen! I am now in a place of transition, in many ways. One part of my journey is ending, and the next has yet to begin. I feel almost… stuck, in the inbetween. I want to jump into the next thing and completely stop what im doing now, but the next thing i have to wait on for a few months, and i feel obligated- like i SHOULD continue doing what ive been doing until the next step begins. The next step is there, and it will happen, just not yet, i have to wait. Its hard to find motivation to do anything while i am in a place of purgatory. Any advice on what i should be doing right now? Curious if youve felt like this before.
@@YOUENJOYLIFE ah shit i didnt see that you responded to me till now! Oh well, hopefully what you had to say helped someone out in the world. Thanks for this response, and speaking about it on your story even though i was too late to see it haha
Oh my gosh Josh 8t is so good to see you.I loved watching Brothers Green. I still do . I learned to cook not to be afraid to try new things. God Bless you and your family. ❤😊😊🙏
Josh, you and your brother helped me find my way in creating food. You more. I miss your wisdom drops… I hope you find a way to influence things again. But know, you’ve already done a great deal. Be you, and understand that you’re missed. 🙌
I love these videos. I followed Brothers Green for a long time, and I'm pretty sure that your taco video saved my life, in some aspects. I love listening to your thoughts about life, food and love. Take care, man.
Haven’t followed your or your bros channel in years. I remember your vid when you went to china town when you were feeling a bit down. Was a very good video. I related to it.
Pam here….life is not static, nor are people. They change, grow, undergo metamorphosis, have epiphanies. Relationships, children, spouses, all change too. It is the beautiful dynamic thing called life. It is annoying when things change people lament over you not staying the same…then others lament you are stale and haven’t grown. The only people or voice you need to listen to ultimately is your own, and it is ok to own your own voice. I found ProHome cooks after you guys already went different directions. Saw the ferment video and hey…I can tell you both ‘grew’ in lots of ways and still had tremendous love and respect for each other…keep that going!
Your story really resonates with me right now. I'm set to inhereit the family business and recently told my dad I didn't want it. Essentially walking away from a large salary, but I don't feel like I deserve it and I feel like a fraud. I really enjoyed you and your brother's work - but I totally get it if you had to change things up.
Picking up on your wording, about not feeling deserving and feeling like fraud (instead of mentioning other dreams you would like to follow), I’d suggest that you look up the concept of “Imposter syndrome”, of it isn’t already familiar to you. Many - and especially gifted - people have this pesky kind of self doubt that’s crippling them. Maybe your family business isn’t for you either way, I don’t know you, just please look into Imposter syndrome before making any permanent decisions. Good luck going forward. 🍀
@@watermelon6878 I appreciate it. I have heard of imposter syndrome. I definitely suffer from it. I'm also pretty hard on myself. For example, if someone asks if I'm good at a skill, I won't say I am if I know someone who is better than me (which there is always someone in the world that is better than you). I also don't want to be seen as the spoiled son of the owner, so I always make sure I show up on time and work hard and stay engaged so I don't slip into that stereotype. Sometimes though, I just don't like the constant rat race. The marketing campaigns and competition. It can be soulless and cutthroat and sometimes I just dream of living in a peaceful, healthy environment where I live naturally - farming, raising animals, etc. Practical work, if that makes sense. I want to be a simple man who knows his community and what he wakes up for everyday.
Amazingly said! I am with your sentiment 100% and it’s hard to put into words sometimes or have a tangible plan of the way I want to live, but you said it. I think food is medicine if you look at it like that. I want to live totally self-sustainably one day but it’s one step at a time. I love the way you seem to be living; that’s the dream!
Once I moved out on my own, I started watching on youtube channels like the Tasty channel and Brothers Green. I loved how simple and how I could save on money with the food hacks you guys came up with. Crazy how much time has passed
thank you for sharing. I always wondered what happened with you guys. It sounds like you made a wise, mature decision and you are at peace with it, so that is great. Best of luck friend!
The even if one person watches a video is so strong and a good mindset, I dived into TH-cam a year ago and all I did was just post random shorts and things that I got from gaming and I just do this for fun and enjoyment. 449 subs later and 300,000 plus channel views and it’s still just fun and entertaining and I enjoy it. Never get obsessed over numbers
very happy to have been suggested this video after watching you and your brother ferment stuff. any idea when, or if a hard copy of your book will be available?
I was never a fan of your brother back then but I was inspired to cook by you. I always tell my friends and family don’t ask what it is I don’t even know what I make half the time and I always say don’t like it because I can’t recreate it 😂
You look way more at peace brother. I was watching you and your brother for many years. When you left I was a bit upset, you don’t look well, you came out as gay you were on drugs I prayed for you. I’m glad you are better and I hope to see you and your brother on video again.
I really appreciated Brothers Green cause it was simple and down to earth. Made real food for real people. Not plastic people. Thanks And good luck in your journey. That was the life my bf and i wanted but never got there.
I wish brothers green had a channel with all the old videos on it. Just those videos. Not pro home cooks. I love pro home cooks but it would be cool to have that one space for just brothers green
I have been watching you since you were doing Brothers Green .....and I wonder if you have any thoughts on the fact that you left to make a new channel and had to start from scratch, whereas your brother mostly could keep all the previous subscribers when he, more simply only, needed to changed the name of the channel??
That’s a really excellent question - glad you gave Josh the opportunity to settle any worries his followers might have had. I was pondering the same thing back then, I thought it might have been due to the brother more or less continuing in the same vein as he/they had been doing before, and Josh seemed to somewhat take a break from it, setting out on a more personal and spiritual journey. But that was just my take from their different channels, it’s nice to know it all went down in an OK fashion.

I liked your creativity along with Mike's ability to make it make sense and come out as a product with a series of steps.
i appreciate the insight
I enjoy life again & myself
glorious!
Your old pad thai recipe led me down a huge journey discovering how to cook thai food. Thank you for that!
I have such respect for you and your brother. Two sharing humans following their paths respectively. You both give so much to all of us, I appreciate you both. 🤗🫶🏻😎 wishing you much peace & happiness.
thank ya
i kinda figured something “broke” between you brothers.
Was a great collab. Love watching you both then and now.
Very nice, Josh. Life opens up new pathways everyday. It's nice to explore them. ❤
Thank you
Thanks for sharing, I’m happy to hear!
Youre one of my personal OGs of youtube and i always enjoyed your cooking videos and hope youre doing well . Youre a truly noble and true person
i appreciate it
Just watched it. Was fantastic to see you guys back together again. Was with you guys pretty much from the begining. Thank you for sharing this video.
as an native american, we can recognise the people who honor the land.
Thank you for sharing this, I wish you well in your journey
Yoshua i just wanted to let you know that your Video "Beginners Guide To Cooking - Learn The Basics" really was the absolute Foundation for me to cook. I've never stopped and it has improved my life tremendously, thanks for that
Beautiful!! Heart warming. Thanks for sharing 🙏. Love your perspective! Loved brothers green and the evolution of you both. Love the authenticity. Best wishes.🙏💕
I’ve been watching you guys since my college days. Bring back the dorm style meals again.
Ditto
Thanks for posting this.... i used to watch you with Mike. Being authentic and true to yourself is great.
Hey Josh, thanks for posting! This video found me at the perfect time, and ive since watched several of your other videos - loving the spontaneity, genuineness and the wise words. Take care out there and keep it up ❤
Brothers green taught me to cook when I was living alone… I would appreciate it if it came back. The creativity, originality changed way I cooked
So great to see you back happy and healthy :)
I really appreciate the love and truth with which you speak about your brother.
I appreciate the message. I just responded to it on my Instagram story @youenjoylife
You more. I miss your wisdom drops…
I hope you find a way to influence things again. But know, you’ve already done a great deal.
Be you, and understand that you’re missed. 🙌
🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
I love these videos. I followed Brothers Green for a long time, and I'm pretty sure that your taco video saved my life, in some aspects.
I love listening to your thoughts about life, food and love. Take care, man.
Haven’t followed your or your bros channel in years. I remember your vid when you went to china town when you were feeling a bit down. Was a very good video. I related to it.
You are such a lovely human being! I am so grateful you exist ❤
thank you. your words inspired me greatly, much love
I really enjoyed you and your brother's work - but I totally get it if you had to change things up.
thank you for sharing, what makes sense will always find those that seek it.
I knew it! I felt that! Amazing can’t wait to hear the rest
This speak deeply to me. Very motivational. I'm very happy for you brother.
thank you for sharing. I always wondered what happened with you guys. It sounds like you made a wise, mature decision and you are at peace with it, so that is great. Best of luck friend!
Love that you’re authentic to yourself ❤
So great to "see" you. Thank you and be well.
:)
Thanks man. What a beautiful video. I needed to hear this 🥲
You're an awesome human 👍🏼 I like your perspective about food
The even if one person watches a video is so strong and a good mindset, I dived into TH-cam a year ago and all I did was just post random shorts and things that I got from gaming and I just do this for fun and enjoyment. 449 subs later and 300,000 plus channel views and it’s still just fun and entertaining and I enjoy it. Never get obsessed over numbers
Love the positive message mate.
very happy to have been suggested this video after watching you and your brother ferment stuff. any idea when, or if a hard copy of your book will be available?
yes, it is available hardcopy now, just check out the link above, or search it on amazon. Thanks for watching!
I was never a fan of your brother back then but I was inspired to cook by you. I always tell my friends and family don’t ask what it is I don’t even know what I make half the time and I always say don’t like it because I can’t recreate it 😂
i still do all the ramens like yall do. that instant ramen supe-up was a freakin classic
You look way more at peace brother. I was watching you and your brother for many years.
When you left I was a bit upset, you don’t look well, you came out as gay you were on drugs I prayed for you. I’m glad you are better and I hope to see you and your brother on video again.
Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing. :)
I low key still kinda sad I didn’t come meet you guys when you did the nellys egg thing in VA
throwback, perhaps one day we shall meet
I needed this video my friend.
You and your brother balance each other out big time. I wouldn’t be mad if you decided to work together again
Do you have the tassajara bread book?
Oh i remember blasting a big fat blunt and cooking your recipes, it was amazing
Your brother is lucky to have you as a brother.
Dude brothers green was so awesome. Very nostalgic for me!!!
Hi! Can you share info on your 1:1’s? 🙏🏼 thank you!
for sure, head on over here to learn more: www.youenjoylife.us/guidance
I have been watching you since you were doing Brothers Green .....and I wonder if you have any thoughts on the fact that you left to make a new channel and had to start from scratch, whereas your brother mostly could keep all the previous subscribers when he, more simply only, needed to changed the name of the channel??
it was all worked out and agreed upon so it felt clean and fair.
We are all inspired by one another.... 💟
Thank God for Mike
