When I read The Color Purple in 1982, as I finished it. I turned back to the first page and read it all over again. I have never done that with any other book. And I am a full fledged bookworm. Alice Walker created a work of art like no other.
I read Alice Walker's novel "The Color Purple" in 1982, and was fortunate to see a screening of the film at IU-B in 1985. Though the film was good, the novel is better because Walker openly addressed issues of Black women in an epistolary format that isn't often utilized by many novelists. The film does examine some of the passionate and violent issues pertaining to Black women; yet, it doesn't address these issues in totality. Thus, I look forward to viewing the new film version.
I read it in 1995, as a senior in HS for our "Gatsby Period Project". Then my peers thought it strange, as adults they agree the book is far better than the movie. It is worth reading and rereading.😊
I been saying this since they started press for this.. something is not sitting well with our sis Taraji.. She’s hurt..pained..bothered..low Key unhappy it seems..
The facial expressions tell a lot! There’s some stuff going on behind the smiles and empowerment. There was definitely some shade being thrown, and why did Oprah keep throwing her hands in TPH face? How rude!!!
I'm 15 (almost 16) and all I could say at the end of 'The Color Purple' was W.O.W.!!!! This spoke to me on so many levels. It's been a really hard year (friends left me that I thought were my ride or die) but I felt HOPE. Thank you Queens!!! You are LIGHT to me and so many who deal with things in the dark.
You will grow in a new place and discover new friends. Just keep going in Gods name I too had childhood friends who dropped me and it definitely hurt but it was for a reason down the road I was lead away. Take care
My 15yr old struggles with that too. Hard to trust anyone these days, even at my old age lol. Take your time and work on being your own best friend first and read others energy. Classmates and Aquantaces instead of "Friends"🙏💕
I loved Danielle in orange and black and now seeing her go forward in the industry is amazing …her and the other girl who played the crazy girl (don’t know her name) in orange And black seeing them in other movies. Also hats off to everyone fantasia, Taharji, in this movie and Oprah as support etc you guys are amazing…All of you rock

How can you love someone who doesn’t know you 🤔
All this fake laughing with Oprah. Then turn’s around and go on a crying tour about how much Oprah paid her for the movie
They have to promote the movie besides the politics, maybe she will get a cut from the box office sales
All three did an amazing job. Fantasia and Danielle had me tearing up and cheering. Taraji was a show stopper as Suge
Shug not Suge. Definitely not Suge Knight.
Fantasia is so sweet for holding Danielle’s hand and saying “it’s ok” as she started crying! We all need a friendship like Fantasia and Danielle 😩💜
That moment solidified this interview!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Body language is telling it all.
