CSX Santa Train Goes Over Copper Creek Viaduct! Adding Special Passenger Car In Tennessee! Part 2

- CSX Santa Train In Virginia & Tennessee! Santa Giving Toys To Needy Appalachian Children & The Santa Train Way Up High On Massive Copper Creek Viaduct Railroad Bridge Towering Over Norfolk Southern Railroad Bridge! Includes Kingsport, Tennessee Switching A Passenger Car Onto The Train & Then Leaving With A Longer Train Southbound To Florida! This CSX Santa Train is Part 2 for my chase.
This video starts where Part 1 ended in Dante, Virginia. We see the train passing the beautiful church and heading to the next stop. There are a couple of runbys in this video to see both sides of the train. A rare thing to see is the doll arm at 1:04.
Watch the excited children in Dungannon, Virginia as Santa and his helpers toss toys from the train. I got an excellent video of a little girl getting a giant tiger from Santa at 8:50. If that doesn't bring a tear to your eyes then nothing will. We also see the old train station in Dungannon. I was unable to get cell phone coverage in almost all of the areas of the train chase.
Next, I climbed to the top of the hill in Speers Ferry, Virginia which is just south of Duffield. I climbed all the way to the top of the highest railroad bridge to get a shot of the train high over the valley. That climb was something else. I was almost to the top when railfans started yelling that the train was about to enter the bridge. That's why I was out of breathe when the train came. I had only a few minutes to spare but look at the view from up there! Last year I filmed the train from the lower railroad bridge. The hard part was getting back down the hill in time to continue the chase.
The final scene is at Kingsport, Tennessee where the train added an additional passenger car to the rear. We see the CSX locomotive add the car and tie the train together. Since I arrived so late at Kingsport I had to park about a mile from the train. I ran all the way back to my truck so that I could film the longer train on a sweeping curve in Kingsport on its run to Jacksonville, Florida. Obviously Santa and the passengers were not on the train as it ran out of Kingsport but I got an excellent video of it. I spent the night in Kingsport and the next day I went to Bristol, Virginia to film Norfolk Southern trains passing the train station at the state line. After that I went to visit Hobo Shoestring. See the other videos of my trip on my front page. Btw, this is Part 2 of my chase of the 81st running of the CSX Santa Train.
Filmed Saturday, November 18, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Love the sound of the children shouting for Santa's attention. I even heard a parent prompt their child to say thank you. Poverty does not exclude proper manners in rural Appalachia.
That was a really awesome moment that I will never forget. The people there are really nice. I wish I could pass out some presents to them.
@@FabianDiazTrainsTrucksNCars It is a lot easier lol
Nice...4 engines is a rarity..
Indeed! Two of them were broke down
Santa Train is magnificent... for children to enjoy!
We agree!
Santa must have put on some weight. That's a LOT of power hauling him around.
The two special locomotive both had issues and CSX brought in the big ones to pull the train
@@JawToothAren't the two special locos providing the HEP for the rest of the train?
Good morning Jawtooth nice big catch of trains
Just keeping you in shape!
That was a good work out
That is so neat ❤️ to bring joy to the children ❤️.
It really is!
Briliant video, nice captures! Good job! Big LIKE
I have seen the Kingsport Bridge before. It looks very photogenic. I like seeing them kids faces light up
Seeing the kids excited for the toys is the best part. The area is a very depressed area with all the coal mines closing and not much opportunity
JawTooth
Another AWESOME video
Enjoyed watching
Oh to be a kid again I will be 80 years old this coming Saturday.
AaaaaaaaàaA As aaaaaAaaaaaaaaaA
Beautiful train!
It sure is!
This is totally cool, got to see it creep through my town, we didn't have a Santa train for us kiddos we had to go to a store for Santa pics. But was worth it. Great job JT
Thanks Jaw Tooth, The kindness shown by CSX RR is a wonderful thing for those up in the Appalachian Mountains, where the people are poor and needy, Makes a wonderful Christmas, even that one child who got the big stuff animal, made here day memorable. Thanks for filming that Jaw Tooth. Have a wonderful day.
That was really awesome to see how excited that she got. All the kids were excited. I got to give one of the stuffed animals to a little girl when it hit me. Lol. Thanks for watching!
God bless you Jaw Tooth and your family.@@JawTooth
Good video Jawtooth
Thanks!
Cool bridge!!
Awesome job great bridge crossing great view of Santa thanks Brian for bringing some cheer to everyone's hearts
Wow! Great catch, @Jaw Tooth, Brian, thank you.
What a good day for the people to see Santa
Thanks for the great adventure JT. A fantastic gesture by the railroad, and much welcomed by those it serves. A wonderful atmosphere around this great occasion. Long may it live.. Seasons greeting to you and yours from Birmingham UK 🌲🌲🇬🇧
Many thanks! I should have thanked CSX in the video because this really does cost a lot for them. It is great PR and they have a lot of employees on hand
That’s just plain awesome of CSX to do. 🤘🏻🎅🏼
Bridge from 1907 now that's remarkable indeed. A true testament to its engineers...
Always enjoy seeing the CSX Santa train. Guess Santa likes riding the train too. Thanks JT.👍🏼🎅🏻🎁🎄
Thanks for watching!
@@JawTooth your welcome JT.
Scenic at Copper Creek Viaduct, nice footage of CSX Santa 🎅 train, GE and EMD motors!🛤🚂
Thank you very much!
I loved see the train passing on the bridge, and that was amazing, and see so many people filming the same thing.
Keep up the great work, Brian.
Greetings from Portugal to the USA.
Thank you very much!
@@JawTooth my pleasure, Brian
Awesome job of catching the Santa 🎅 train JT 👍👍👍👍
That's some beautiful area the Santa train is traveling through! 😊😊😊❤❤❤
Yes indeed!
It is neat seeing all of the railways with their Santa and Christmas trains. The Canadian pacific Kansas southern train is pretty cool too. Has box cars that the sides fold down on and bands play. Lit up from one end to the other too. Pretty cool.
4 locomotives...those cars must be HEAVY!
They are!
2 were offline and the 2 came off another train. The cars arent that heavy compared to the gevos
@@milepost26.69 I was told the traction motors were the issue.
@@JawTooth yes, i was at copper creek as well cool shot
Good Morning Brian abd the crew.. 2" of snow yesterday..
What, no pets??? Great video, JT... really enjoyed the bridgework of those two bridges in that valley! And considering they were finished in 1907??? Wow.
Glad you enjoyed it! I noticed last night before I scheduled it that I forgot to put the pets in. They will be in the next one. thanks for watching!
Love this. Children are excited. Great views. Thanks so much. My second time seeing this. ❤😊
Thanks! I did two parts so far for this train and will have one more part but it will be other trains that were near the Santa Train.
Think there was a rail line behind the old train station saw what looks like a rail bed
Always nice to see passenger trains and Santa rode in style. Both children and adults enjoy seeing this especially in an area were the economics aren't always that good. Excellent View at the viaduct and then looking down at the parallel line just shows the rugged engineering in the area. The lower level Bridge certainly has some unique supports as at a glance they look like wood but actually are concrete. I'm glad you remembered where your car was but maybe next time bring the guitar and you can sing the Streets of Bakersfield
Back in the 90s the Rhinelander Model Railroad Club helped out on numerous CN santa trains. Hundreds of parents would bring their children to sit on Santas' lap. Unbeknownst to the kids there was a person writing down their wishes and later delivering the lists to the parents. Each child got a special toy and there was food and refreshments for all. Thanks for another great video, enjoyed it a lot!
SANTA TRAIN YEAAAAAA!
Splendid video, Jaw Tooth! You caught the anticipation of the crowds at the stop as they waited for the train and then the joy of Santa and his helpers passing out the toys etc. to the crowd. Thank you for climbing up the hill to get to the same height as the Cooper Creek bridge to get the beautiful view of the Santa Train coming across the Cooper Creek bridge. The action of adding to extra car on the train at Kingsport, Tennessee was interesting to watch. That industrial complex that you showed us at near the end of the video had to be the Eastman Chemical plant.
Good morning
Morning
1:52 "I love ya Santa" lol
What a blessing it is to see the Santa train bring Joy to all those children. I also❤it when you give the kids or other total strangers a chance to be in your video when you have them say " But wait, there's more, ' course there always is!" And you have over 307K subscribers to take in all the magic, Thank You Brian. Happy Holidays.
Super video. Loved the bridge and all the excited kids. ❤
Thank you 🤗
Great coverage of the train this year. Thank you for taking us way up to the top of the bridge and the shot from below was beautiful. Happy holidays JT and all the viewers!
Another breaking It friend amazing capture 👏🏼🥇🔥👊🏽
Too bad the Santa train doesn’t come to the CSX line in upstate NY. Great photography. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
So nice to see and hear the excitement!!!! Thanks Jaw Tooth, CSX, and of course, Santa!!!!!
Hey jaw tooth it's cool to see Santa trains still moving around the country. Wish all railroads would do a Christmas Santa train. Have a great railroad day 🚂🙋♀️
Thanks for sharing JT👍
My pleasure!!
1:04. Signal with doll arm. Getting to be a rare sight.
Yes, that is really cool. I have only seen a few of those. Awesome that it is still there. Is Doll Arm the actual name for them? I had someone asking me about that and I didn't know what to call it.
Great to see the Santa train going through Virginia and Tennessee
giving out toys by tossing them
from the train was awesome and
the train was a nice looking one
very interesting seeing this and I
really enjoyed the video and i wish
you and your family a very happy

What a wonderful occasion, so pleasing to watch.
I counted thirteen cars 🚗 including Santa's Caboose.
Those front leading (2) loco's still having their red tail lights illuminating must have been the attachment ❤

Season Greetings from New Zealand 🇳🇿 ❤
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo ! ✨✨
Why sthe Hell it needs FOUR locos to pull that train I'll Never figure out!!? Great Video Though, and it is nice to see CSX Honoring the Christmas season, and of course Santa himself.
Nice station and clock tower!
It sure is!
Would love to be one of Santa's helpers on that train. Merry Christmas.
Me too. I wish I knew someone at CSX to get to do that

Awesome train 🚆 video, Brian. Keep up the good work.😊
Thank you very much!
Welcome back to Tennessee! Hope you enjoy seeing any Canadian National Trains if you head west.
Yes, that would be cool. I wanted to head that way for CN and for the CP Christmas train but I have a tooth ache problem and broke a tooth. I don't know what is worse than a toothache.
@@JawTooth Having broken legs, arms, and a neck, therefore being paralyzed until it heals. At least that's what I THINK is worse than a toothache.
Beautiful shot of the santa train going over the high bridge JT. ❤😊
Thanks JT nice ride againt this year
Thanks! This is my third year to chase it
😅cool video,al the kids are happy.😅 you drive 480 KM? lol. thanks for part 2.greetz:🍐Peer. 🍻
My truck is really getting the miles piled on. Lol. The engine light is on but it keeps running. I changed the oil last week in it.

Hey JT, Greetings from SF Bay Area California! And thank you for hoofin' it up the trail for a most awesome video. I'd never seen a train tip-toe across a trestle bridge before, so that was a very nice catch! Indeed, the hike will keep you in shape. Best wishes to you and yours, all around the world. Peace! oh, and subbed!
Thanks for subbing to me and thanks for watching my videos! I appreciate it and I appreciate your comments.
I do not take it litely the hard work you put in your video's
Thanks! I appreciate that
Excellent Video!
💐🚂🇮🇳🚂💐
Thank you so much 😀
Great coverage of the Santa Train all the way. You really put a lot of work into it. This was all my "home country" where I've traveled in and around about all my life, living nearby in Big Stone Gap. VA. and on the outskirts of Kingsport, TN, a really nice city. I will try to find a picture or two of the Copper Creek Viaduct construction and post them on this video. Thanks for the great coverage.
That is an awesome area to live in. I wish I could have seen it in the busy coal days. I got to see some of the coal before it started drying up but I wish I could have been there in the 80s and 90s. Thanks for watching!
Do all of Santa's train cars have passengers or is it just his personal car? 😊 Thanks 👍 JT. 😊😊😊❤❤❤
They're not open to the general public. You have to be an employee or know someone
Awesome coverage of the Santa Train Jawtooth!👍
The Santa Train Special!
Santa Train 01:00 - 4 Engines (2 CSX 1&2) The 13-car train was pulled by CSX Nos. 1 and 2, extensively modified and stretched former Amtrak F40PHs with independent HEP. Just north of St. Paul, CSX 2 developed traction-motor problems. As the grade stiffened from water level to 1.7% at Boody, Va., it quickly became obvious the single unit would never be able to handle the heavy train. Fortunately, southbound Russell, Ky., to Rocky Mount, N.C., manifest M653 was directed into the passing track at Allen, 15 miles to the north. The freight’s two units (ET44CHs Nos. 3323 and 3411) were cut off after the crew tied down their train and sent south to rescue the stalled special. The two big AC “heavies” on the point provided more than enough tractive effort to get the train to Shelby. The next morning, the two freight units were still up front to lead the Santa Train south.
Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤
Thanks. I was wondering why the 2 heavies.
I enjoyed that video👍👍
Thanks 👍
А вот пассажирские поезда у вас очень красивые.
hello jaw it's is randy and i like yours video is cool thanks jaw friends randy
Hello Randy my friend!
Cool video 😊
Thanks 😁
Another Danny Harmon lesson: on that old signal at 1:00, the arm on it means that it controls the track one position farther left, that is the main track. The siding has a dwarf signal below. That might be a problem at night though.
Yes, they have the false arm so that the train crew will know that the signal is for the track on the left
Want to film the viaduct some day
Reminds me of the time we made the mistake of going to the train museum on thomas the tank engine day haha
I think I had a Jaw Tooth sighting at 6:00 on the latest VR video. Yes?
Thats so cool, I live in Indianapolis need to make it to the Tulip trestle some decade.
Yes, I was there one time and got an awesome train with mixed locomotives going over the trestle. That was just before I started my channel. I want to go back there and film again and get the tunnel
you will know how big the city is when they introduce a twenty mile an hour limit on all the city roads like they are doing in britain so every one can pollute even more
Thank you for the awesome CSX Christmas Train videos shot in some beautiful scenery. Appreciate your great efforts you gave put out to get the awesome shots. Loved the commentary. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
Awesome video Brian! Happy Holydays 🎄🎁🙂
Happy Holidays !

think its time to hit the peloton son! you sounded a little gassed at the trestle! cheers.
I had just climbed straight up a hill. That was a long way up. I usually just chase trains on flat ground
