    What about using a timing light and revving the motor to 1680 rpm on a typical or 840 on a lost spark ignition engine? 14 hz=840 fpm. A spark plug normally fires every other revolution, so 840*2=1680rpm.

      My company manufactures a GPS preemption system that compares in COST to the optical systems collisioncontrol.net/PreemptionSystems/ . When you said Omni system I assume you mean GPS system or Multi mode which is a system that works with existing optical systems and GPS. Our system is a multi-mode system. If a department has existing optical they can start replacing units with our system as an upgrade strategy. Their existing optical systems will still work and of course our GPS system will work. I can confirm what convictcreations said below. The optical systems are not only still in USE today in many large cities the system is still SOLD today simply because the cost of other GPS system is very high. Often in the 12 to 15k per intersection range. Although some cities get a grant, there are only so many grants to go around. Then there are other costs as well with GPS systems from other companies. Some use wifi radio which is low range (4 tenths of a mile without obstructions factored) so then the city has to buy range extenders etc.

      @Cytranic - yeah... ur way wrong dude... u sound like a salty troll... I’m on the other side of the river from manhattan.... OMNI costs a ton and it’s only used on the major roadways that are near terror watch list sites like MetLife Stadium, American Dream, etc.... you’re clearly basing your DEFINITIVE statement on whatever went on in your little bubble of the country because we are among the busiest first responders in the nation and we HARDLY have MIRT.... In fact, I believe that only the FD has MIRT in my area and the sensors are again only on select few busy congested intersections.. The cops aren’t trusted enough apparently because I’ve been one here since 2002 and I had to beg for a damn traffic box key last year because all they ever gave me was the skeleton key to the OLD SCHOOL boxes (which are STILL IN USE on almost ALL intersections that are just off the main roadways)
      There are schematics and code for this elsewhere everyone... I just don’t wanna be responsible for being the one who points you there... git me? ✌️

    Have you tested it say on a radar detector with emergency vehicle response? My code always seems too glitchy to make my radar detector go off. My dad has a real one on his response truck and it goes off for that every time. I also noticed that I used white LEDs... Probably a bad idea.

    • @Belofsky1
      @Belofsky1  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have tested it by measuring the cycles per second when filming it when turned on and then slowing it down and counting its strobes per seconds. Altering traffic patterns is highly illegal in the United State. You use that, the cameras catch your plates, some nice LEO show up at your door with some shiny bracelets.

    • @ocsrc
      @ocsrc 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Here where I live they actually use a much simpler system and if you flash your high beams 10 * at the intersection there's some sort of camera that picks that up and changes the lights to Green
      Up in New York where I came from they had the mirt system and it was encrypted so that you had to have the specific pattern that the emergency vehicles had to make the lights change
      And each Town had their own encryption method or pattern so that going from one town to another the vehicles could not change the lights in the other town which turned into problems and some spectacular crashes when they were chasing people from one town to another
      I don't know if they ever came up with a unified encryption but I remember seeing a three-car pile-up at a busy intersection where three emergency vehicles came from three different directions and managed to t-bone one and then the other as well as about 20 cars I think someone actually died in that crash it was pretty spectacular and that was back in the days when these systems were first being implemented and my town spent 50 million dollars to put them in at taxpayers expense because the traffic was so congested it took 10 minutes to get 1 mile on an average day
      Hear the strobe lights that they use on the standard lights behind the headlight that are white not the red and blue ones but they have white ones that flashes well and they're visible and I guess it's 10 flashes a second and it triggers the lights to go green and they've had this system for a very long time I remember seeing it down here in the 80s before I moved and coming back they still have the same exact system all these years later which it must work for them so they don't spend money to upgrade it but they did spend about 400 million putting in a 700 megahertz p25 Phase 2 simulcast radio system which caused everybody's taxes to jump about $1,000 a year to pay the loan that they floated
      Many times they have to go back to the analog system from 30 years ago because the p25 simulcast has a lot of trouble with the terrain and the digital signal breaks up
      I have a straight shot with a link from my house to the tower 1 mile away and I see the dispatch comes through at 100% because it's a direct wire to the transmitter but for the mobile units they only get about 75% and for the Portables it's about 30% so it's really not anywhere near as good as the old analog system which I actually bought all the radios that the town sold when they switched over for a buck apiece and these things cost to Grand back when they bought them so now I have Stacks and stacks of radios that I'm trying to sell that still work really well for being 30 years old

    • @MentalTacoDog
      @MentalTacoDog 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The IR sensors on red lights see the flashing light at specifically at a rate of 14Hz, which then sends a signal for the light to turn green. However some intersections are equipped with cameras and use some other methods to determine when and who used the preemptive system so I wouldn't recommend to anyone that they try and replicate this.
