  • On October 25, 2021 my husband and I moved with our 8 children from The United States of America to Gambia, Africa! We made this move without a backup plan! We are an African American family moving back to Africa. Going back home to Africa is a dream come true for our family. We'd like to share this journey with other families who would like to know what life is life moving to Africa from America.

    Mark 6:14 is point on! This is the exact reason why I built a house in Gambia and moving the entire family end of 2022. I am Gambian, but I've been in the US since I was 9yrs old. Now, married with two kids and one on the way. May Allah continue to make it easier for you Sister.

    MASHALLAH 🙌🏾Thank you for sharing your testimony especially about the 'Scary TIME' - when ANYONE seeks TMH and asks for divine guidance he MOST often will put it into your heart to MOVE/DEPART out from Amongst those that are full of unbelief, and when one chooses obedience IBLIS will come against you like a force, “Hijrah originally is the word from Al-Hajr, the act of separating; the opposite of connecting. He separated from unbelievers. Predominately used for departing from *a land to another land* and leaving the first for the second. Its a test of ones FAITH, because FAITH comes with Action or it is considered simply as Disobedience and welllllllll we all know the realm of such! 👂🏾

    I am looking to move to The Gambia some day but I am wanting to KNOW: is $1800 a month enough to live there in Banjul? 2 how is the dental and medical care there? I am on Medicare (should I cancel my Medicare?how much is a 2 bedroom apartment furnished? I have a Gambian Girl friend that I have in Mind to marry. she is only 18 years old. would that be a problem with Muslim church. Her parents are okay with us marrying. I am whiite and she is black; we are okay with that too... . thanks for your answers. best wishes to you/ family

    • @summersinafrica
      @summersinafrica  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, $1800 USD a month is plenty to.live in Banjul or any other parts of Gambia. Personally I wouldn't choose to give up Medicare if I had it. I know the process could take long to get it back in the event that things didn't work out for you in Gambia. You are still eligible to receive your benefits no matter where you reside as long as you maintain US citizenship. Hope this answers your concerns. Best of wishes to you!

    • @summersinafrica
      @summersinafrica  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A 2 bedroom could cost anywhere from $2000 and up a year. Dental is great! I've had good experiences so far with medical, but I also don't have any serious medical conditions, so I don't know if it would be suitable in other cases. In general based on Islamic guidelines a Muslim woman can only marry a Muslim man. However, a Muslim man can Marry a women of Christian or Jewish faith.

    WOW this video was so amazing to watch ,I got shivers watching this video of yours sister especially the part when you mentioned about your Grandfather because I personally knew him ,May Allah rest his soul in peace ,forgive him of all his sins ,make life in the grave easy for him and grant him the highest of Jannah ,Allahumma Ameen ❤️Your grandfather was a very good person and an exceptional person ,His heart was really pure Allahumbarik ❤️❤️,He really made my family and all the other African families that used to live in SC feel more comfortable going to the masjid and the people at the masjid got to know more about us through him because your grandfather used to be very intrigued with our culture ,I remember the Ramadan days He would come over to our table and try the teas and some of our African foods ,there would literally be a whole tea made for Him because He loved it so much lol so the parents would make him his own personal one. He also helped out all of us A lot ,I’m grateful to have meant such an amazing soul like Him Alhamdulliah ❤️❤️I also remember the days He would always mention to us about moving to Africa ,me being younger than I didn’t take that seriously but it was something He was very passionate about and then I heard they had moved to Africa couple years later after we left SC, it made me happy that He finally got his wish Alhamdulliah 🥰❤️
    May Allah reunite you all with Him in the next life ,keep you and your family on the right path and forgive you all of your sins Allahumma Ameen ❤️❤️

      Ameen and you’re very welcome sister ❤️❤️
      I was in SC from years 2005-2015 , Try to let her know I was the daughter of Sister Asha and how she and Brother Habib used to come over to our house in Latimer Manor ,especially remind her of how they came over one of the times for the Marriage of Sister Rasheeda to one of my brothers, also remind her of how during Ramadan they would come over to our table ,also mentioned to her how her and Brother Habib had came to my brother Omar wedding in NY back in 2016 and also let her know how I was the African girl that has the same name as her lol hopefully this will help her to remember In Sha Allah 🥲❤️ but I know for sure if she were to see she will most likely remember me and JazakaAllahu khair for passing my salams to her ❤️❤️
      But Alhamdulliah yes He was very caring and loving and He was also very humble as well as very kind and always put others before himself Allahumbarik 🥺❤️❤️. I have such beautiful memories of Him Alhamdulliah. I’m grateful Allah SWT allowed me and my family as well as the rest of us to get to know him ,He has truly impacted our lives in so many ways ,
      When I heard the news of his passing ,I couldn’t believe that He was gone and no longer on this Earth 💔 for I was hoping to see Him and Sister Zaynab again but I really pray Allah puts Him in his highest Jannah ❤️❤️

    I love stories like this. The truth is, not all couples are on the same page when it comes to making a huge life decision. It takes courage to be transparent about that and give suggestions on how to move through it. And the fact that you have other family members accompanying you, wow! You are blessed and where you need to be!

    Beautiful story sis! I feel like I will be in your grandfathers shoes as my life continues because I have not gotten many onboard with the idea of Africa yet...but I'm gonna keep wearing them down!🤣
    Okay, okay...so we are getting more and more and I'm digging it! I'm not even going to barrage you with ideas this time because I sure you have many and I do not want to mess up your creative process. However, I did want to mention how much I love the name of your channel! So what are we shooting for...500K subs in the first year?🤩

    By the Grace of Allah, I stumbled into your channel and is well worth it.. One word to describe you my Sister, "AUTHENTIC ". You are regal and a true Gem. To be an African, you must stay grounded and humble to blend in with people and pray for discernment to be at peace so you be able to weed out the bad apples from the bunch before they sow their seeds in your beautiful GARDEN. I am speaking in general all across the board. You already home because you speak from your heart and that speaks volumes. Welcome and Peace be on to You and your family. Wassalam.

Don't get in the mixed of all the drama happening in the Gambia..Be present in any given moment...After all it is said and done with, You are your only best friend, but Know who your friends are and your enemies will flee from you.
