That “beautician” took her from young girl with pretty hair to something between Little Orphan Annie to little old lady. Only thing left is to dye the hair orphan red or old lady blue. 🤦🏾♀️
I went to this girl house in 03 to get my braids done. It’s sooooo many parts I’m going to skip for sake of time but this could literally be a mini episode of something. Anyway, she braiding the back of my hair, we’re in a room, with her, her boyfriend, and his homeboy. 🧐The mEnZ are smoking reefer. I’m agitated because two roaches keep crawling across the TV and nobody is acknowledging it beside me and the homebody, through eye contact. After about ten minutes, I feel the homebody trying to get my attention - no, not flirting. He’s trying to discreetly tell me it’s a ROACH ON MY KNEE!!! I jump up SCREAMING! Very long story short : I told my boyfriend come get me NOW!!!!!!! SMH. Never again
GIRRRRRLLLLL‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ not A nobody besides you & the homeboy even acknowledging the roaches‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ & then B the homeboy trying to discreetly tell you that it was a roach on your knee‼️‼️‼️‼️omg I would not have invited nobody to my house knowing I had roaches‼️‼️‼️‼️ & then she had her man there & he was comfortable knowing they were there‼️‼️‼️‼️😂🤣😂🤣😂😂
I've unfortunately got more horror stories than I can share 😭. I've had my hair underprocessed, overprocessed, cut in a Farah Fawcett flip 🙄, a bowl cut, a haircut from the 3 stooges 🤦🏾♀️, braids so tight my eyebrows were at the top of my head, 😑, a fried fried fried silk press straighter than Pocahontas, and a mullet 😡. I've never even seen a Black person with a mullet so I don't know what that hairstylist was on. I realized soon enough that I shouldn't have to do jail time because someone who dares to call themselves a hairstylist is out here ruining lives. I've been doing my hair for a minute now and, while I'm no professional, I know I do my best to keep my hair healthy and cute.
LOL us guys go through it, too! I when I moved to Denver, I didn't know anyone or where to go to cut my hair so I found a barber shop in the PHONE BOOK (late 90's haha)and drove on over. The only available person to cut my hair was this lady, who happened to be a pastor at a local church. She cursed alot, had a dirty mouth for a pastor. Anyways, Ihad a small scar on my forehead from when I fell when I was a kid. She took the liberty to incorporate it into a SWIRL design from the front of my head to the top. All I asked for was a fade. When she showed me I was horrified. "Ma'am, I work in a bank-I can't go to work looking like THIS." I had her just shave me bald. She caught a major attitude. I never went back and never took her up on her offer to go hear her preach, either.
Hair down my back (mid back)…I wanted a change…went to my cousin the licensed stylist…asked for a high low cut…high in the back and angle down towards my face in the front…by the time she finished, it looked like she put a bowl on my head and cut around it. She kept trying to fix the angle because it apparently “wasn’t angling right”…she angled it right up to mid ears. My daddy said “a woman’s hair is a woman’s glory and don’t you EVER let her in your head again”…that was 20 years ago and she hasn’t been in my head since.
She was low key jealous of you and your hair.. but the way you set it up is funny 🤣😂🤣… I couldn’t stop laughing 😂🤣😂… and the fact that she kept cutting b/c it was not “angling” took me out🤣😂🤣😂… she would have got the hands & feet 🦶 program 🤣😂🤣🤣
I’ve been doing hair for about 12 years now and it’s always SUCH a compliment when my guest feels comfortable enough to tell me they want things adjusted. It shows I’ve built trust/ comfort with them. I don’t want anyone paying and walking around with something they don’t love. When someone loves their hair that’s the best advertisement truly.
Went in for a flat iron at a shop I had been going to with my natural hair for almost 20 years off and on. She burned my hair, it all broke off smelled like an old fire and I had to pay someone else to big chop what what’s left of my shoulder length hair and start over. I just cried. Never went back to her. But the pain was real!
I am too old to be letting these sheep shirring shenanigans keep happening. I went in for a trim, came out looking like a fan blade victim. I just cut my own hair now. Gotta say, I do not miss the salon, or their charges!
I do my daughters hair. She wears it natural & I was able to grow it to shoulder length & also kept up maintaining her hair with trimming the ends , deep conditioning ect For her high school graduation I paid to get her a silk press and that cutting crazy “stylist”, “trimmed “ her down to a bob hairstyle 😮 Her ends were damaged to the extent to chop off a quarter of her hair! They seem to not know the difference between a trim & cut! I think they want to maintain the lie that black girls/women can’t grow healthy long hair! So I do my daughters hair myself, including silk presses. We barely do silk presses / or blow drying because I don’t want her damaged from excessive heat exposure. But at least we have the option & products to do it for special occasions ect 😂🤣
This reminds me of that scene from Golden Girls when Sofia convinced Dorothy, Rose and Blanche to get their hair done by Edwardo. He gave a spectacular speech to boost each woman's confidence in his ability. When he was done, they all had the same hairstyle as the one pictured in this video😂😂😂
Yep . An older family member (old enough to still think in terms of having “good hair”/“bad hair”. I evidently had the “bad hair”) took me to a salon when I was about 12/13 or so. I knew something was up when hairdresser turned up an hour late, did somebody ELSE’S hair first, rolled her eyes at me, **then** got around to doing mine. She chemically straightens my hair . I finally get outside and scratch behind my ear. Turns out there was a GIANT clump of leftover relaxer stuck behind my ear and it nearly burned my skin… suffice to say the LAST TIME I ever got my hair relaxed…😩 and my hair has flourished because of that decision.
I've had relaxers for maybe 5 to 10 years and I'm getting tired of the long process, harsh chemicals, and it lasting only a week. It's time to go natural, dammit. But my mom white so you know she hates natural hair :|
@@Red-jl1qri feel for you, but she needs to get over it! What did she expect when she got pregnant by your black daddy? 😂😅 I hope you eventually learn to do your own hair and be proud of the beautiful curly coils that you were born with! We have been shamed and ridiculed for centuries since slavery about our hair not being adequate! I hope you can find a stylist that can educate you about maintaining & taking care of your hair or a progressive minded black auntie who can help you embrace and take care of your beautiful hair ! Black is beautiful & so is our hair! We have very versatile beautiful hair in multiple textures & shades! Be proud of your heritage and both parents races! Love yourself first & foremost! God bless! 😊❤️🙏🏾
Horror story that still haunts me today...my mom's friend just finished beauty school back in the day...relaxers just came out. I had thick hair but it was fine textured. She put super strength in my hair...eventually all my hair broke off and i had sores in my scalp for.months...Im natural today because of that trauma.👵🏾
Disregard that first comment. They are a scammer, but I feel you on the natural way. It is the best way to be. Wigs help as long as you don't rip your hair out when taking them off. Folk knowing how to properly care for their hair prior to install & in between install is crucial.
My friend's mom in high school was a beautician it was my freshman year. My hair wasn't extra long but I would say it was probably to the middle of my back.. So I have an appointment with her and I have another friend there with me. Everything is fine till we get done with the perm. I hear her gasp and then another beautician in the shop comes to her. They're talking about my hair but I don't really know what's going on yet. She then tell me that I CAUSE BREAKAGE TO MY HAIR. Now she has to fix it, I went in there with middle of my back length and left with a bob just above my ears. Then my friend told me what actually happened is while she was trimming my hair she cut off to much. Then had to fix it and that's what they were doing behind my head was trying to see how short they were going to have to cut it. And the worst part was she repeatedly kept telling me during my appointment that it was my fault. That my hair had broke off so bad and that I was lucky that she was fixing it free of charge.......
That’s the new trauma cut! I remember going to get my hair done for vacation. My friend had hers done in the style I wanted. I went to the same stylist she had gone to and took my friend with me to show the stylist what I wanted! She shaved the back of my head repeatedly with dull clippers until it was raw! No part of my friend’s head was shaved. The other stylists went and got the salon owner and showed her what had happened and I wasn’t charged. The stylist was fired. The owner was there when I showed her what style I wanted. I walked in with hair past my shoulders and walked out with a bowl cut and scalp damage. I was offered free services for three months but refused to return.
I literally screamed when I saw the end result 😱 Po Baby! I have always had thick hair and after a stylist put a super relaxer in my hair and permed it so straight, it wouldn’t keep a curl for a month, I started doing my own hair. If I mess up my hair, it’s one thing. It’s a Whole Nother thing for me to PAY for my hair to be messed up!
True story…junior prom 1992 was rocking the jery curl…went to get done 2 weeks before so it would have time to get back right before prom. I walked in with hair down to my shoulders I left with hair cut short like this video the beautician told my mother she gave me a “trim” my mother didn’t pay her and cussed her from one side to the next…so here I was with a bad hairdo and ashamed at how bad she got cussed out….lol
We all know how long it takes to get a curl back right. My mama didn't know. She shampooed my hair the night before my auntie's wedding, of which I was a flower girl. My hair was a straight afro the next day in my auntie's wedding!! I didn't smile for her pictures or anything. I was so mad!
As soon as I saw them cutting the sides, it brought back traumatic memories for me. I just went in to a salon for a TRIM, slightly longer in front (just below my chin) with some slight layering, and I showed the "stylist" a picture of the style I had & wanted. First thing she did was cut my sides up by my cheekbone, just like in this video. It just got worse from there, and I was in such shock by the time it was over that I just paid and got out of there. Then I went home & cried. My husband had an old friend who was a stylist, and was able to get me into her salon real quick. She did the best she could to salvage it, but I still looked a little bit like Miss Crabtree from Our Gang for a while until it grew out.
Well I went to the ‘home salon’ of this lady. She always wore long, beautiful braids so I had asked her if she could do a braided bob style for me. We were a few hours in and the back already looked too FULL and felt HEAVY and there was still over half the braids left to finish! I was worried...😅 Then she had a narcoleptic fit and fell on the floor unconscious - literally while she had my braid in her hand!! 😳 Bruh I was panicking, trying to wake her up and about to call an ambulance!! Then she suddenly woke up and just sprang to her feet, saying the fit was ‘normal’ and acting like nothing had happened?? It was like I was in an episode of the Twilight Zone! At this point I was stressed out and was just trying to leave - with half my head unfinished - but she insisted on finishing my hair!!! A whole 12 hours later and my braided ‘bob’ resembled a huge, scary chunky ass lion’s mane 🦁 and nothing like a cute, flat braided bob I wanted. I was so traumatised but because I felt bad that she’d been unconscious, I even thanked her and paid her for the frightening braids. 😩😩 I was roasted mercilessly.
When I first started grad school I would travel 2 hours back home to my stylist to do my hair. She had done it for years prior. This time, I got a relaxer/wrap and the next morning I could barely unwrap my hair. It was mostly stuck to my head with scabs. It was beyond overprocessed. And a couple days later, I noticed my entire nape area had fallen out and was completely bald! I called her and she said she didn’t know what happened and promised to send me “oils and treatments” to put on it. She never sent me anything by the way. I ended up finding an amazing stylist near my school who cut my hair into a bob first (limiting my shock) and then a pixie so everything could catch back up.
I went to a modeling school or a finishing school as my mama called it to learn how to walk, how to put on makeup and just how to present myself. They had a stylist there. He didn't tell me what he was going to do. He cut off all my hair. I had just had a perm. I hated it, I was so mad. But now I do cut my hair in a pixie because I want it in a pixie. This girl must have wanted a major cut. She went from looking like a twenty something cutie to a grandma in five minutes. She was a bad stylist. It will grow back, thank goodness! Hair Horror!
When I was about 16 it was picture day in high school and my mother took me the day before to get my hair done. I was super excited cuz it was my first time going to the beauty salon but what didn't dawn on me at the time is that my mother was taking me to her hair stylist. The tragic results of that event was me ending up with bangs that went from ear to ear. Like think comb all your hair down evenly around your head and then cut bangs from one ear to the other and then bumped the back real hard. Needless to say we didn't buy school pictures that year.
Yep, my first "trim" when I was about 12 was a lady taking 14" off my hair. I never went to another stylist, started doing extensions the next year, then became a cosmetologist just so I never have to deal with another one again
I need a follow-up. What does it look like in 4-6 weeks? What's the maintenance? How much did they pay??? Who did this to them? I'm invested. They need to be exposed.
It was my birthday (a milestone birthday at that) & I told homeboy to hook me up as I was gonna party that night & leaving on vacay the next day. Long story short, I'm in law enforcement & he was lucky it was my day off & I was not packing! When I saw what he did to my hair, I could of easily emptied out my weapon on him!
I got the same type of haircut that’s in the video from a former hairstylist. I was speechless when I looked in the mirror. At the time I was quick to punch a chick in the face, so people in the salon jumped in between myself and the stylist. Needless to say I never returned and when from her salon to the barbershop I cut all my hair OFF that day and embraced a natural hair lifestyle which I have never turned away from. I currently have the most beautiful locs which are all the way down my back. In a way I am now thankful for the disaster that started me on my natural hair journey
When I was 25, (in the 90’s) I got my first FULL sew in, (none of my real hair was left out). Girl I was so excited until she finished and spun me around in the chair to see the finish results! 🥹 I had A HUGE LUMP on each side of my head and a colossal size lump in the top of my head, (where she apparently braided my hair). I was so upset 😭
I was getting my hair washed and permed when I was a teenager. They had already washed out the relaxer and had me under the dryer. Admittedly, I feel asleep under there because it was early and I was tired. The woman wrapped my hair and didn’t say anything to me. When I got home and pulled me hair down, there were clumps of hair stuck together from burned blood all throughout my head. My mom had to spend an hour unsticking and untangling my hair and soothing my raw scalp. I ended up never going back there and I stopped perming my hair.
In 2018 I got a wig installed for the first and last time. I expressed to the hairstylist how much I valued my edges. I asked her not to put the glue directly on my edges and she did anyway. When it was time for the wig to come off my when I say ALL my edges came off with it. I cried for days. I had nice full edges and while they have grown in a considerable amount, they are still NOT the same as they were. Ain’t wore a lick of weave since!
Preparing for senior prom....my mom could only afford salon visits for me on special occasions (she jacked me up any other time...that's a whole "nother" Oprah show). Anywho, I told the stylist I wanted soft curls in an elegant any classy updo. She put my hair in a ponytail, curled the ends, spritzed it to death with Lotta Body and pump it up (thick, long hair here), and stood back and looked at it with the biggest cheese-butt grin on her face like she had did the dang thang. I was PISSED and devastated. Mom came to pick me up. Looked at my head and said "that's what she did? I paid for THAT? Hell I coulda did THAT." She brought it down a notch when she say how upset I was. I made it known to the stylist I didn't like it. But there was no time to rewash and style. That was the last time I sat in her chair. My folks still looking for the pictures. ME: With the face of innocence....I don't know what happened to them😇😌 Whew, therapy for the day. 😮💨
I used to go on Saturdays with my grandma to get my hair permed. It was a beauty school and not everyone was able, but I did appreciate when the teachers would come by and correct/guide. Most of the times were fine and I went to some very talented young women that eventually moved on to their own shops after graduating. One time was so bad they made someone else redo my hair. There was so much grease and product in my hair it was heavy and wouldn't even move. I think there was a few other times but I remember that one. I stopped going after my grandma died and most of the good people left. They would always curl me like an old lady cuz that was the main clientele lol I would just go home and fix it
I went to the shop the week before leaving for my sister’s wedding in Punta Cana. The heffa used 40v and bleach on my virgin, never processed, bra strap length hair and within 3 days, I had to do a big chop cause my hair was done. My profile pic is me at the wedding. Real. Thug. Tears!!!!
Oh no 😢😢😢 i do my own highlights and never use anything over 20vol. Yes I have to wait longer but my hair is intact after. Also Olaplex will save some fried hair.
She looks like the fourth actress in Golden Girls. My mom used to take us to the Base Salon. The normal lady (White Irish Lady) was booked so a new hire (a black lady) did mine and my sisters hair. She cut our hair so lopsided and jagged that the only way to fix it was to give us both mushroom cuts. I cried so hard. My mom bought me a cheese hot dog AND a scoop of Baskin Robins. My sister took it better than me.
The fourth golden girl 🤔🤦🏽♀️ You better put some respect on Sophia Petrillo's name, she is the goat of shade😅 th-cam.com/video/5NGqVj9YPmU/w-d-xo.html
I have two horror stories, and after turned into a "what are you doing, or putting in my hair type of client". I know I was probably a pain in the behind, but I needed step by step breakdowns, during the entire process. The first horror story, I was going on vacation and running late, so I decided to go to my friend's hairdresser because I was just getting the front of my hair flat twisted. The stylist sat me down in the chair, pulled out some gel and attempted to proceed to do flat twists on dry and dirty hair. Then she copped an attitude when I informed her my hair needed to be washed and I always get flat twists done on wet hair. She begrudgingly shampooed my hair (roughly) and did not use any conditioner. My hair was rough and tangled from the cheap shampoo. When I asked about conditioner/ cream rinse, she said it would be an extra charge. At this point I started arguing with her and told her to forget it, she wasn't doing anything else to my hair. While waiting for my friend to finish under the dryer, the owner arrived, asked me what happened and proceeded to fire the stylist on the spot. She apologized and then conditioned my hair, flat twisted it and didn't charge me. My second horror story was when I went to get a touch up. This was at my regular salon. After the relaxer touch up, I asked to have my ends trimmed. I was growing my hair out and being diligent about split ends. It was a Dominican salon, and the stylist wasn't so good with English, so I spoke to the owner and had her tell the stylist in Spanish, so there would be no confusion. I should have known something was up when she turned me away from the mirror. She cut my hair into a "long bob" that brushed my shoulders. I just sat there and cried. The owner was just as upset as I was. The funny thing about it was that the cut was sharp, precise and beautiful! I received many compliments, but it was just not what I wanted. I am happily natural now and haven't stepped foot in a salon in 8 years.
When I was a teenager, (about 15) I went to my boyfriend's mama's beauty school. She wanted to use me as a model. I had a short hair cut at the time. She did a shampoo and style. Well the style didn't come out like she wanted it and said my hair wasn't straight enough at the root. She ended up washing out the style and gave me a relaxer, THE SAME DAY!!! My scalp was on FIRE🔥!!! I told her my head was burning and she tried to brush it off by saying I'm just "tender headed". After I started crying, that's when she got "aggravated" washed it out. About a week later, I started to get blooded scabs on my scalp. I realized much later, that I had chemical burns. Being in beauty school, they teach you NOT to irritate the scalp before a relaxer. Hell, it's even instructed on the box. But she took it upon herself to do it anyway. Needless to say, she didn't pursue a career as a cosmetologist. Thankfully, my hair didn't fall out, nor do I suffer from alopecia. But 20 years later, my scalp still gets irritated from where she put that relaxer...
My horror story is also why I started doing hair at 16, not professionally but I was pretty good. Went to get 1 style but the person had another style in their mind as they was doing my hair and they cut WAY more off than I wanted. I literally cried, REAL TEARS. My little 16yr old heart was broken because my hair that was just past my shoulders was now at my earlobes with an exaggerated bang. I thought I was going to be taking over for the 99-2000 but instead I hated my hair and it lowered my self esteem. It took almost 20 years for me to let someone finally do my hair...and I still color it myself and do my own perms but I let my stylist cut it, only because I can't blend it right in the back. I tell her when I don't like something but she's fine with it because she knows I have trust issues lol
Went to one of the $10 salons that do roller sets. Been before but I wanted long length layers this time. Asked everyone in the shop who was great at cutting, went to the lady they referred. Again I asked her to keep my length but cut a bit more off the layers to make them more pronounced. She cut all my hair from bra length to above my shoulders. I was trying my moms hair done too so I didn’t notice my hair until we left. I cried so weeks and eventually went natural and have been now for over 10 years.
I remember about 30 years ago I went to a Beauty school for a hair cut. Went there all of the time. This time the woman used electric clippers & buzzed the back of my head to the scalp. It was past butch! The front was fine. Fortunately my hair grows fast. And I NEVER let anyone get crazy with the clippers ever again.
I remember I got a perm back in the day and it came out good, or at least I thought. The next day I ran my fingers through my head and I had these dry clumps in the back. My coworker told me it was perm that wasn't washed out. I went back to the hairdresser and she wanted to charge me to rinse out the remaining perm. She redid my hair, I didn't pay and that was my last time there.
The most expensive and quickest time I got box braids is my horror story. I was going to jr high so I wanted a cute hair style. I convinced my dad to take me to the African Salon because all my friends went and I didnt want to be the loser that has my aunt or sister do my hair. It toke half a day because she kept taking lunch breaks and it looked great except for my edges which she braided after my dad said nah. My forehead looked huge but the reason for me loosing it out(it was 5 days). Something kept poking me and we found out she braided a fishbone in my hair. My dad made me loose the rest out and we had to go to church. My sister ended up giving me a great style for my troubles tho
Not a fish bone. Once I went to an African shop to get box braids and they put in so much hair that my neck was hurting (after a few days I had to go to different shop to get my hair taken down, my neck was killing me). It was three ladies working together. They were also taking lots of food breaks. After they were finished, I went to the rest room only to discover that there was no toilet tissue, soap, or paper towels. I never went back. Later that year, that African shop opened up a food carry out business inside of the braid shop. 🤢🤢🤢🤮
Now, I was supposed to be watching Bible study and this came across my feed 😂. I'm make it quick. I remember I went to this hood-tician for some micros. It was about 5 or 6 of us in the house. Some girl stops by, as she is speaking to everyone, she walks up to the girl braiding my hair and WAP! Knocked her clean out! Meanwhile babygirl didn't let go of my braid...so me and her were on the floor 🤣. It's was about to be a 2 for 1 on the TKO! I'm slapping her wrist like "let go"! Whole time she trying to use my hair as a shield 😂. After the fight....I'm looking at her like ...are you going to finish my hair or nah!? Needless to say....I was in a baseball cap all week! 🤣😂. #goodtimes
My last time going to a hairdresser was November 2019. I was natural but I wanted the Halle Berry Boomerang hair style- you know, the 90s T-Boz, paper boy bowl cut. When I say that lady ignored my soul & gave me the Lisa from Fresh Prince... I had 3 centimeters of hair on my head! Then had the nerve to tell me come back so she can maintain it. 😠😡😤😤😤 I cried in the car 🤣 never again!!
It was the early 90s and my hair was falling out by the handfuls from being over processed. So I decided to get the back shaved and get the cute Toni Braxton/Anita Baker look. Ten years later, when I was so tired of the upkeep, I decided to grow my hair out and go natural. I’ve had dread locs for over 20 years and never been happier!!
Two stories: back in my late twenties, I let a church member who had done amazing things with people in our church’s hair. She permed it and then styled me as a grandmother! I told her I didn’t like it and she started laughing. Two months maybe three ago I had been growing my natural hair for over a year and a half. My long time hairdresser had stopped doing hair and I was looking for someone new. The guy did an amazing silk press. The second time I asked him just to cut it into a pixie cut. He cut it and made me look like Gumby!!! Y’all I was so mad!! Luckily no one was physically harmed in this transaction.
She went from 16yrs old to 65yrs old in less than a hour…lol that’s a for real a#@ whoopin I would get all my 1year of teasing while it grows back in that beat down.
This looks like the cut Dorothy, Blanche and Rose got when they went to Sophia’s beautician on the Golden Girls!😂😂😂😂 That episode was too funny! But this real-life mess is not funny, at all.
I hope she is ‘So Satisfied’ cause if somebody did that to me, there would be ‘No Charge’ or else I would’ve found ‘The Stone’ and the ‘Church’ would be ‘in mourning’ 😏😏💀
I have had plenty: People lying about their skillset...overprocessed, hair cut too deeply, uneven trims, etc. I've done big chops, creamy crack , and back to big chop. After I loc'd my hair, peace...great peace. I haven't looked back since.
I tried to save money and went to a local chain hair place. They bleached my hair. I told them it was burning and I wanted it to be washed out. They told me it wasn't done processing yet. Needless to say.... my hair melted and I suffered a ton of breakage. I went to an expensive salon and found the best stylist ever she gave me a big chop and rescued my strands. I still see her now. I've had all kinds of color in my hair and NEVER had she ever melted or damaged my locs. (This was over 12 years ago and I'm still scared to go anywhere else. )
Back in the day, my mom had a beautiful long jeri curl. She really put a lot of care into growing her hair out after it had broken off to being an inch long due to her nerves. She had a hairdresser friend who was really an undercover hater. She begged my mom to come to her shop for a touch up only to get her there and cut off her hair in the back. My mom wanted to fight her, she was so pissed. My mom never got to fight her but I got to fight her son inside a clothing store inside rolling acres mall. Lol. And I whooped his behind because of what his momma did to my momma. Lol
I wanted flat twists up into a bun. A spot on the top of my head was in so much pain as it got towards the end that I told her to stop. She wasn't listening, and it was difficult because my cousin was with me and I was there by her recommendation. Y'ALL!!!!! That pain hit me in a way that I started snatching flat twists down! They thought I was exaggerating until they saw the BALD SPOT THE SIZE OF A QUARTER ON THE TOP OF MY HEAD!!! I learned to speak up at the beauty shop after that. 🗣🙆🏾♀️👩🏾🦲
Remember braid wars? When people were getting beehives, fish tails, and RANDOMNESS on their heads like it was the best thing ever. Then couldn't lean back in a chair or go to sleep!
I went to a shop right before New Years to get my hair wrapped. I remember smelling spritz while she was wrapping my hair around my head. I kept asking if it was spritz. She kept telling me it wasn’t. Combs my hair down (permed at the time; about 3” PAST my bra strap) and “trims” my ends. I remember she had this little boy sweeping up hair and I kept seeing the most beautiful locks of hair being swept away. She showed me my hair. The front was jacked (3 very blunt step ladder cuts on both sides) but I didn’t care. I could fix that at home. I was like, cool. Let me leave and try to fix the stiffness. When I got home…when I say ALL MY HAIR WAS GONE! Ended at my ears all the way around. I couldn’t tell in the shop because this was when those sweaters with the fur collars were out. I was so mad!!! 😡 But I still blame myself. She had “GRAMMY (yes the MUSICAL award) award winning stylist” in a mural on her wall. I should’ve known. Also my fault because I always did my own hair but I’d just had a heartbreak and wanted to pamper myself. Poor me.
I wanna rewind time and jump her for you..... maybe wrong for saying this but that's why I always preferred male stylist because they always did the correct type of trimming of ends and it was just a different experience without all the talking and gossiping. I was always done in less than an hour and a half no matter what I got done. Part of me feels that when you go in there with long hair some of those beauticians are jealous and their version of a trim is to cut off all of your hair. I stopped letting women trim my ends in my twenties and then when I became self-sufficient after college only men did my hair. 🤷🏾♀️
The stylist was getting ready to clock out for the day and Ms. Lady demanded to be seen, even though her appointment was earlier that afternoon. This is clearly hair that was styled with animosity.
I went I went to the nail salon for the first time ever (I’m 23). And it was actually a private shop in a lady’s house. The house wasn’t in the projects, it was in a nice neighborhood in front of the water, but the inside of the place screamed projects (red flag #1). Dingy, smelly, holes in the walls with hella incense sticks sticking out, dirty. The house was actually 3 apartments so I go to the lady’s apartment and mind you my natural nails are long and beautiful. I’ve never had fake nails or anything foreign on my nails. She’s talking about how nice they are. But then she cuts them down and puts this super thick ass gel stuff on them and paints over it. Had my nails looking so ugly like thick chicklets. Waste of money, bad first experience. Never going back. She was proud of what she did too. I don’t see how. I wonder if she made my nails ugly on purpose
I'm not a cosmetologist, but I've been doing hair for years... including my own since I was about 18. I started making alot of money between my regular 9-5 and as well as doing hair. So I figured I'd do like everyone else and start going to get my hair done, too. 2 different visits, 2 different salons. 2 different states. Went to get a trim, the girl snatched all my inches.. like all of them... bsby i came fir a trim... not the haley berry cut. Never went to her again. Next time I go get a sew in. The girl ran out of hair. This was before buying bundles. I bought two packs of hair. She put an entire 3 packs of curly hair in my head.... and then did the worst shape up. I looked like a damn poodle when I left there. Never-a-effing-gin!!
@@BlaydeAlabama baby you don't need to see it. Lol. But just know chile that I looked rough... and I never took a picture because who wants proof of that. Lol I sadly brought my puppy dog head ass back home... took out several tracks and re shaped it. Had to fix with the cut but I worked it out.
That one time I thought I would look good as a blonde but came out with hair more crisp than a scarecrow. It took about 9 months to grow it out enough to chop the dead hair off. Never again!
This is why I’ve had the same hairdresser and the same hairdo for over 15 years. The only thing I change is a level or two in my lowlights/highlights, depending on the season. Don’t fix it if it ain’t broken is my motto.
I was a 19-year-old stationed in NAS Sigonella Sicily in the late 90s. I wore a short natural fro needing to keep it shorter than 3 inches. My head is oddly shaped, and my hair grows at an uneven rate across its expanse, so it requires a bit of shaping to make it round. If one trims it with a guard, it will take the shape if my head. Going to a barber on base that is Italian and not knowing how to explain how to cut my hair I say simply cut it 1 inch all over. 1 inch means nothing to native Italian. I get a cut with a number one guard and walk out bald exposing my pointy head and putting me out of regulation. As a female in the military bald was not allowed because it went against cultural norms. I already stood out as a black unattractive female, so it was ruff for about 2 weeks.
I went to get my hair relaxed when I was 15 and the lady asked me if I wanted my shoulder length hair cut short, I said no. When she is done it was shorter than my ears and she gave me a 40 year old black lady going to church style. I almost cried. How short would it have been if I had said yes? Luckily there was only 2 weeks left in the school year. I wore a hoodie for those 2 weeks.
Yup old lady cut my thick natural hair in a bowl cut (she was supposed to trim it) right before I started 9th grade , shit looked like I had a cat 🐈⬛ sittin on top of my head ! I would hide in the bathroom every chance I got 😠
I was at my regular hair appointment and a young lady came in frantically saying that she needed her hair done because she was going to a "premiere", this was in California. My beautician looked at her hair and said that it was over processed and if she put anymore chemicals in it it would fall out. She didn't want to hear that so she let another stylist do it, my beautician told her, "if you put any chemicals in her hair it's going to fall out like the back of your hand", sure enough as soon as she put water on it that ladies hair fell all the way out. My hairdresser said, if you put a wig on it it's just going to take longer to grow back. I will never forget that. 🤣
I’ve had experiences where braids were a lot smaller than I asked for and they kept going. They price was steep of course. Waiting for hours has always been a BS thing and not to mention the last minute cancellations. Just had one this week.
I had a beautician (who was Caucasian) tell me she could do my hair (because her husband was Indian) and so being OVERLY trusting (I was 18y/o) I let her do my hair and she would normally do a wet set. Well…it was time for a relaxer and I go in and we’re talking about doing my perm and I knew something wasn’t right when she rolled my hair in rods and started saturating my hair with solution…ya’ll she gave me a curly perm and she was confused as to why my hair didn’t curl😂😂😂. I had her rinse out my hair and just do the wet set and NEVER saw her again!!
A permanent, "perm" for short, means different things to both black and white people. Because most white people hair tend to be more straight when they say that they want a permanent it is thought to mean permanently curled. For black people since their hair is usually tightly curled when they say that they want a perm they are referring to permanently straight. Your request was lost in translation, so to speak.
@@arganiaspinosa9122 It’s not that deep..that was over 25 years ago and my request was not lost in translation, she wanted to build her clientele but left out the fact she couldn’t do African American hair
My mom used to send us to this lady's house to get our hair done when I was little. I've always had thick coarse hair and I'm one of 3 girls so you can imagine doing all that hair. But anyways, every time we came home, we kept telling our mom how bad our hair and scalp itched for days. Finally my sister (who was a teen), got her hair done by the woman and was able to tell my mom the lady was terrible at washing hair. She didn't scrub the scalp at all...that's why it was always itchy afterwards. Made me really appreciate a good shampooer as I got older!
Aw man! Memories of SEVERAL horrible hair stories: 1) The stylist who tried to blame me for the 3rd degree burns on my neck (she asked me what had ‘I’ done when I showed up to show her the blisters on my neck from whatever she used to give me the PRETTIEST Jheri curl (hard to feel cute with a neck full of blisters). 2) The stylist who turned me away from the mirror while he gave me an asymmetrical cut that I DIDN’T ask for! The whole right side of my head could’ve been rolled with rice! That’s how short it was. 3) The church friend who braided my hair the day before my Jamaica vacation. Seemed like a good idea…I wanted the style to be fresh. Unfortunately, she ran out of hair! Had to keep it in a top ponytail because she had to remove hair from the middle/top to fill in other areas! I can laugh now, but back then…Ooooo!😂😂😂😂😂
A classic kinky headed story. I went to the Dominican shop and asked for them to flat iron my hair. This lady slipped a quick perm in, like you don't have to ask for consent to permanently change the chemical balance of someone's hair. 😤 I had been natural my whole life, so when I went to wash my hair and it did a weird wave instead of a million coils I shaved it all off 🤷🏾♀️
I was certain that a Dominican stylist had secretly permed my hair because it stopped reverting back as well. But others said that perhaps it was the silicone in the products that they use. Either way I had to cut my hair off and start over. Crazy how folks just assume that you don't like your coily hair and "really" want it permanently straight.
@@burnettaallen2492 They do this! My sister had it happen to her. She didn't know they snuck it in at a Dominican salon she went to and warned us when she found out. She let it grow out though.
I had a stylist tell me that they sometimes put relaxer in the shampoo and conditioner. Luckily I had stopped going to them when I noticed my hair thinning out. I went to them because my stylist had retired and I hadn’t yet found a new one. The struggle was real.
I was 19, full time uni student and part time cocktail waitress. It was the 80's and I wanted my straight hair to be curly and low maintainence, so I got the full spiral perm and when she went to take the money piece out, you know the once right in front, the rod just fell off and my hair has never grown back there since. I wish this hell on noone. F my life.
I've had a chunk of my hair burned off with bleach by one lady, and then a separate time at a different place I asked for a lil trim on my waist length hair and the heifer gave me a damn bob to my collar bones 😭After that I learned how to do my own lol traumatized
I went to get box braids once and brought 5 packs of hair. The braider to me to go and buy 5 more. Unfortunately i didn't feel the weight while my hair was being braided but once she was finished it was a disaster. It was so heavy and tight. I tried every trick in the book to get some relief until i ended up taking them all out. Money down the drain but I was so relieved.
My mom took me to her salon because her stylist recommended another lady in the salon to do my highlights. First the stylist showed up late. Second I asked for red highlights in my hair. After she bleached it to a brassy orange color, she convinced me to keep it that color and not dye it red because it looked better. (I’m 19 at the time and didn’t know any better.) Next I asked for a trim. Ole girl took off 1-2 inches off, bumped the ends and tried to slick down my edges with some brown pro styler gel. When she found that the gel wasnt working and was reverting my hair she… she took some clippers and cut off my side burns ON ONE SIDE OF MY HEAD. Since I had a side part and hair was covering the other side of my face, she didn’t even bother to make the other side burn match. That was the first and last time I ever visited a salon to get my hair done.

That “beautician” took her from young girl with pretty hair to something between Little Orphan Annie to little old lady. Only thing left is to dye the hair orphan red or old lady blue. 🤦🏾♀️
i was seeing the Annie look too.

SMH. Never again

The way I hollered at all this tragedy😂😂
Oh Emm Gee. Your hair has been through it all 😂😂😂
Poor baby… 😩 lol
The part about the mullet! 🤣
I'm so sorry for what you and your hair have been through LOL. I hope you find a trustworthy beautician to do your hair right. 😉🤗
Man, you ain't never heard of the "Scar-swirl fade"?! They hawt! 🤣 (sorry to cackle at your pain 🙏)
I’m just trying to adjust my eyes to figure out which texture it changed to
Hair down my back (mid back)…I wanted a change…went to my cousin the licensed stylist…asked for a high low cut…high in the back and angle down towards my face in the front…by the time she finished, it looked like she put a bowl on my head and cut around it. She kept trying to fix the angle because it apparently “wasn’t angling right”…she angled it right up to mid ears. My daddy said “a woman’s hair is a woman’s glory and don’t you EVER let her in your head again”…that was 20 years ago and she hasn’t been in my head since.
It is!!! Yes daddy. U won't mess up my glory...that's in the Bible
Go daddy, he knows it well, I swear some sylists just wanna see the world burn
She was low key jealous of you and your hair.. but the way you set it up is funny 🤣😂🤣… I couldn’t stop laughing 😂🤣😂… and the fact that she kept cutting b/c it was not “angling” took me out🤣😂🤣😂… she would have got the hands & feet 🦶 program 🤣😂🤣🤣
She did it on purpose
I’ve been doing hair for about 12 years now and it’s always SUCH a compliment when my guest feels comfortable enough to tell me they want things adjusted. It shows I’ve built trust/ comfort with them. I don’t want anyone paying and walking around with something they don’t love. When someone loves their hair that’s the best advertisement truly.
She needs to take her to court… the audacity 🥴😭
Went in for a flat iron at a shop I had been going to with my natural hair for almost 20 years off and on. She burned my hair, it all broke off smelled like an old fire and I had to pay someone else to big chop what what’s left of my shoulder length hair and start over. I just cried. Never went back to her. But the pain was real!
😢
I am too old to be letting these sheep shirring shenanigans keep happening. I went in for a trim, came out looking like a fan blade victim. I just cut my own hair now. Gotta say, I do not miss the salon, or their charges!
😮
I do my daughters hair. She wears it natural & I was able to grow it to shoulder length & also kept up maintaining her hair with trimming the ends , deep conditioning ect For her high school graduation I paid to get her a silk press and that cutting crazy “stylist”, “trimmed “ her down to a bob hairstyle 😮
Her ends were damaged to the extent to chop off a quarter of her hair!
👏👏
I love a good Golden Girls reference!
I went and looked up the video because of your comment, and you ain't kidding 😂 it looks just like the goldens girls "make over"
Yes that scene was from a clip show... It was my first thought 💀🤣

That looks like a 1500 piece jigsaw puzzle was dumped on her head! Her follicles are pissed! She has about 6 diff hairlines and 3 hairstyles. 🤬😂
You mamma should've beat earrbody ass immediately!!! Bad hair.....and then leaves relaxer😡🤬
I feel you! I had so many perm burns from relatives doing box perms on my hair back in the day. 😩 Thank God my hair bounced back.
I used to get those big scabs at the top of my head! 😕
I've had relaxers for maybe 5 to 10 years and I'm getting tired of the long process, harsh chemicals, and it lasting only a week. It's time to go natural, dammit. But my mom white so you know she hates natural hair :|

I would have went back and gave these hands to that lady free of charge.
'Free services' for what? So they could take the rest if your hair off? Sorry this happened to you. Some people suck
@@phiakate Thanks. Exactly and that’s why I never went back. 😂

That is some ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS FOOLISHNESS!!! Her smile looked like this🥴 at the "finished" product.
I like yo momma....wait luv.
I was worried...😅
Then she had a narcoleptic fit and fell on the floor unconscious - literally while she had my braid in her hand!!
Oh my goodness

The stylist must have seen something.
14" after you said trim? Ohh girl I would have put them paws on her.

So you didn’t feel that?

Hell I coulda did THAT."
She brought it down a notch when she say how upset I was. I made it known to the stylist I didn't like it. But there was no time to rewash and style. That was the last time I sat in her chair. My folks still looking for the pictures.
ME: With the face of innocence....I don't know what happened to them😇😌
Whew, therapy for the day.
They would always curl me like an old lady cuz that was the main clientele lol I would just go home and fix it
This HURT me in places I wasn't even was aware that was .....I can't even make sense right now, I....I......I would be in jail right now, REAL TALK!!!
But good thing you have the face and the head shape to pull it off! 👍🏽💛
This shortcut actually looks beautiful on you!
If it's any consolation, you look real cute tho!
Wow. That is so messed up!!! But you workin that short cut. It looks cute!

WOW. I'm gonna call what you went through "child abuse". I feel like I should apologize....
I am so glad my beauty shop days are over. Wear a afro and a cap when I don't want to comb it out. From watching this, I ain't missing anything.
🤣🤣🤣Amen!!!
Btw, I braided and did hair throughout college to make extra money so I definitely developed a skill and turned a bad experience into something good.
She let these folks at this “breau-ty” shop play in her head. 😩
The day a hairdresser does sum like this to me, I’ll end up in jail💀
🤣 will have to donate to u 🛐🕊

I remember about 30 years ago I went to a Beauty school for a hair cut. Went there all of the time. This time the woman used electric clippers & buzzed the back of my head to the scalp. It was past butch! The front was fine. Fortunately my hair grows fast. And I NEVER let anyone get crazy with the clippers ever again.
Ej can you make a video reacting to the comments..because these stories are hilarious and I would love to see you reacting to them 😂😂
I remember I got a perm back in the day and it came out good, or at least I thought. The next day I ran my fingers through my head and I had these dry clumps in the back. My coworker told me it was perm that wasn't washed out. I went back to the hairdresser and she wanted to charge me to rinse out the remaining perm. She redid my hair, I didn't pay and that was my last time there.
Charge you?, wow, she’s lucky you didn’t sue
That side eye at the end though.
Not a fishbone! 😱
A fish bone?!!!! 🤦🏾♀️
Hahaha No she didn’t! 😂
No ma’am! It was all them lunch breaks lol
A fish bone? That’s gross. Glad you got redemption in the end.
Lmao they gave her a nappy, mushroom style 💀 all that showmanship for that?!

😅😅
I’ve been done wrong like that by my long time stylist. Left in tears and went to Floyd’s for my first bald fade!
That’s what I’m saying EJ! I can mess up my own hair for FREE! Not gonna pay someone no money to mess up my own hair 🤣😂🤣

I have left more than one shop with my hair half done, to keep from going to jail. I do my own hair now 🙃
I have had plenty: People lying about their skillset...overprocessed, hair cut too deeply, uneven trims, etc.
(This was over 12 years ago and I'm still scared to go anywhere else. )
When I was 16 just wanted my ends trimmed and she cut almost all my hair off
Nearly every time I went to get my hair done I'd give the fake "thank you, it's so nice", then go home and cry 😭😂
Lol
The way I just laughed out loud at the ending of this story 🤣🤣🤣
Mom was avenged that day, lol!
I promise I am not a violent woman, but I got time today 🥊🤬
Poor me.
I wanna rewind time and jump her for you..... maybe wrong for saying this but that's why I always preferred male stylist because they always did the correct type of trimming of ends and it was just a different experience
without all the talking and gossiping. 🤷🏾♀️
It’s not your fault. These people are out there waiting to jack up your day. Not one thing was on you.
@@phiakate Aww. Thank you!!

That one time I thought I would look good as a blonde but came out with hair more crisp than a scarecrow. It took about 9 months to grow it out enough to chop the dead hair off. Never again!
Yesssss!!! I went to get a jericurl and they didn’t put anything on scalp. I actually got a sore by my hairline in the back!
Not the Burty shop 😂🤣😂
I’ve had experiences where braids were a lot smaller than I asked for and they kept going. They price was steep of course. Waiting for hours has always been a BS thing and not to mention the last minute cancellations. Just had one this week.
I wasn't ready!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I should not have been drinking water! 🤣
You did not let her fill in your hair 😂😂😂
A classic kinky headed story.
I went to the Dominican shop and asked for them to flat iron my hair. This lady slipped a quick perm in, like you don't have to ask for consent to permanently change the chemical balance of someone's hair. 😤
I had been natural my whole life, so when I went to wash my hair and it did a weird wave instead of a million coils I shaved it all off 🤷🏾♀️
I was certain that a Dominican stylist had secretly permed my hair because it stopped reverting back as well.

I wish this hell on noone.

I needed this laugh! Thanks EJ😂😂
