When I first discovered your channel, I was taken aback by the harsh comments you received. People have different taste, and even when at times there was maybe some room for improvement, that did never justify the rudeness of commenters! I love what you did with your appartment! Love the pink accents everywhere💓
You're one of the places I go to for inspirations, not just in interior design which I love. But also for motivations, to keep thriving on things you love.
I will never understand trolls, but I will also never understand how TH-camrs take their hate so regularly. Alexandra, I admire your confidence and I love how you turned their hate into your humor!
I love how you turned a rude comment into art. It should make you laugh everytime you see it because it truly is a joke. You have great energy and are incredibly talented. I thoroughly enjoy your content.
What a beautiful space!!! Just discovered your channel when I was googling affordable, renter friendly decorating ideas for my apartment. I seem to be obsessed now with re-doing my apartment. In definite need of a make over. People tell me I have good taste in things and clothing but when it comes to making a cozy, functional, stylish home, definitely seem to lack imagination!! Yikes... This is where you come in!!! Thanks so much for your channel here. I am now determined to make a beautiful, cozy, stylish home for myself. You are leaving me with so many good ideas. I also love that you are in Canada and list things you are showing. My favorite You Tube channel now...
Whoa... "You wouldn't know design if you ate a design sandwich." Alexandra, that is NEXT LEVEL trolling the troll. All I can say is, "well played, extremely well played!" 👏 👏 👏 So amazing that they don't get to take credit for the quote so it's like a proverbial "in your face, TROLL!" 💪
I mean wow, how can trolls comment on you not having design style, girl you have major talent, your place is gorgeous, so bright, happy, creative and fun, I am so impressed.
I totally agree. She has only made improvements. What landlord wouldn't want that? :) She put a brand new countertop in the kitchen (with permission, of course). Pretty sure she will leave that. ;)
Lottie has gotten so BIG!! I’m still in awe when you show your home. It’s glorious. Are you moving into an office with enough space to construct all your DIY’s? Or joining forces with someone??? Can’t wait for the reveal!💕
Your home is so calm and cosy. I've just painted my living room during lockdown and ordered new curtains, cushions and rug but it just doesn't 'feel' right. You've got a magic touch!
I just randomly found you on u tube. You are so talented and adorable. I am in the process of selling some of my current furniture and replacing with smaller pieces. Now after seeing your apt, I’m thinking I should send back the rug I bought...again (this is rug number 3). Where did you get your bedroom rug? Love it! Also saw another video about inexpensive ways to update. I, too, have used a new couch slipcover. It completely changed the look in my living room. I would kill for your outdoor space. It’s so stunning.
I am OBSESSED with your apartment omg I can’t even decide which room is my favorite . And that patio omg imagine sitting there in the morning while u drink coffee ☕️omg
It's so stunning how you have your style down and show it off in every room! Comfy, fun, cheerful and functional. Thank you for sharing all of your work with us, you're amazing!
Usually with contents llike room design & styling, ppol who make nasty comments are just envious of your wonderful ideas and how gorgeous youve made your space, also other ppol's home Keep up the great work!
I don’t understand why you would get hate comments and mails... You have such a possitive vibe and seem so sweet. It’s not that if you have a different design view that you have to be mean, so I hope that those trolls start to see that.
Love how cohesive your apartment now has become, with that delicious pink paint as the unifying color. Great job! I assume you're getting your own office space to work out of? What is the jewelry hack and dowel on the wall? Do you have a video on that? I'd enjoy seeing more DIY'S for storing jewelry while displaying it, as I'm a jewelry buff! ie:Storage shelves, boxes, etc. Any Ikea uses and re-purposings would be good too! Thanks, Karen
That was so cool of you to turn a negative comment into an art piece. You're just a ray of sunshine, aren't you? Btw, great apartment and decor stuff. 🤗
I caught a glimpse of that bird cage pendant and saw you are going to do a diy video on how to make one (yay)! I am old (63) but ❤️ your style. I am a feminine, bohemian old hippy! I am in the process of downsizing my overcluttered bedroom, selling a bunch of furniture, painting some, painting my walls from robin’s egg blue with white trim to some neutral (not decided yet) still with my bright white trim. I am changing my color scheme from very colorful to neutral, calm, with mixtures of neutrals, a big natural wicker swing chair in front of a large window. I have some peel off wallpaper for one wall that is a subtle taupe and white print. Do you have any videos that show the pendant in its entirety? I have a work corner in my room that I am changing out from a huge pecan classic office desk to a small Ikea white one and I ordered an office chair that is a beige and white cow print wingback with a driftwood base and antique brass casters.
63 is NOT old. I'm 64 and just getting started. I just moved back to France after 40 years around Australia, Canada, the US. We're rocking it with our wisdom and experience.
Hello!! I love how this apartment turned out! it's so girly and boho! Please make more Studio Apartments Makeovers!! I love ALL your ideas and transformations :)
I'd love to see a video all about lighting! From candles, to floor lights, to lamps, and everything in between. How to use lighting as *decor* instead of just function!
The moment you took us onto the porch, my first thought was “I wonder if she has the raccoon problem like Kelsey from The Sorry Girls...” and yup you mentioned them too! Gorgeous space, Alexandra!
Can you make a video about cat/animal proofing a space while keeping it cute?? We have 2 cats and they scratch up the couches, try to eat the plants, and of course, the litter box isn't exactly a ~great~ view. Maybe you have the same issues, but they're just hidden behind the scenes😅 I love your videos!!!❤❤
She mentions her Ikea cupboard that she turned into a hiding spot for her litterbox. Trim your cats nails to help with clawing - it's those hooks at the end that really pull the fabric ! Cats nails are translucent. Gently press down on the top of the nail. The nail will pop out. You will see the dark color at the base, that is the "Quick" (the blood supply) avoid that! You just need to trim maybe 1/4th of nail. Make sure you buy a STURDY scratching post and smear catnip all over it. Praise the cat when he uses it. To discourage scratching other objects, several ways & you WILL have to keep doing them - as cat by now has a habit of dcratching them. 1) Foil - either sheets or crumbled bits. Attach to areas cat scratches. They hate the feel of it. 2) Citrus spray - most cats HATE citrus ! Try it on the BACK of your couch first to make sure it doesn't stain it. If it doesn't after 24 hours, spray in the area where cat scratches. Cats normally sniff before they scratch. 3) Some cats prefer horizontal scratching, like rugs. Get them an appropriate horizontal scratching post. No matter what kind of scratching post it NEEDS to be sturdy. That's why the love couches, they don't move. Make sure to put fresh catnip on it weekly. If you're afraid of trimming nails, see if your Vet. Office will show you. It is super quick once you know how ! (Former Veterinary technician)
Melody- this, all of this! What Margaret MacLellan said. Also, a 10-20 min play session twice a day, to help them release that cat energy is good! You can make it a ritual. Perhaps at first they won’t get it, if you haven’t played with them regularly before, but they’ll catch on and see that that time of day is for releasing their energy! I like what Jackson Galaxy says, you’ve got to give a “yes to the no”. Which is what is so perfect about what Margaret said! “No” to the couch, “yes” to the scratching post. “No” to the rug, “yes” to the horizontal corrugated cardboard scratcher. “No” to scratching or biting you, “yes” to a hunt-like play session with a rod and string toy! Also, I personally bought a couch with removable and replaceable covers, *just in case*. I got the VALLENTUNA from IKEA, and I know as my own little private insurance policy that if anything was to get ruined, I could just buy a new cover for each piece. It’s all modular.. Best of luck!
i have a cat and live in a 425 sq ft studio. i honestly left the litter box out. it encourages me to clean it all the time, plus my cat likes it being out in the open. i have 3 more cats at my parents house and they won’t use a litter box that is enclosed, so i prefer mine to be out. as for scratching, i put a gigantic cat tree next to the couch with scratchers on it and my cat goes for that every time instead of the couch. my cats at my parents house are all declawed, but one of them liked to bite our leather dining chairs. we got little covers from amazon and they look fantastic. furniture covers are a great solution. my cat has a chronic upper respiratory infection and sneezes all the time, so i love covers because i can wash them, plus it protects against the claws. last, i keep my cat’s nails super short. i cut them once every week or two.
Alexandra, you are tops! Perhaps some of the criticisms you are are receiving are nothing more than jealousy/envy disguised as "critiques." You are truly talented, creative. I am a visual artist, and sometimes tune in to your videos to get inspiration, or to just "chill out" watching another artist do her craft. If I had to choose a theme to describe your work, I would choose the word "light," in the sense of illumination. The colors, the shapes, the unique items you use, they are inspiring. Keep up the wonderful and beautiful work, you wonderful Canadian! (I'm born and raised in NYC, and visited Toronto when I was 17 years old. I remember thinking, "Oh, it's like New York. Only clean and polite.") Take care, sweets.
Thank you Alexandra for sharing your wonderful talent and makeovers with us. You've brought so much joy to my life with your bright and lovely personality, especially during this difficult time. I've been inspired to live a better life by your beautiful makeovers
Wow! I totally loved this tour, it has evolved so beautifully and I love that pink color, it's made me consider painting a wall or two in my own house. I love Boho eclectic, it's my style as well, the only difference is I like purples and blues and pinks, and I'm 62 and probably won't change to neutral colors, I do like a bright white and then I can throw colors in everywhere. I'm an artist so I love color. So I'm thinking that maybe you're getting an office space or a place to do your photo shoots or both. I'm excited to see what is going to happen and I thank you so much for always having such fun videos full of lots of inspiration and ideas that I can try out in my own space. See you soon, stay safe, sending love and hugs, bye for now.
I love how you commissioned a piece of art from a troll's comment. Touche ! There is no need for nastiness online. Ever. I remember watching each room being remade by you and loved this full apartment tour. Hi from Australia where I'm watching this video on a rainy day lounging on my bed and with my cat 🤗
is it possible that Alexandra is moving in the loft (from the SorryGirls)?! I think she hinted that she would like to have a loft and they just moved out... 🧐
Vitz Reka, I highly doubt it! That space is probably too big for Alexandra's needs, plus the landlord wasn't very accommodating. Why do you think the Sorry Girls moved? ;)
The Sorry Girls also mentioned that their old loft only had stairs (no elevator). But I also won’t rent it after they stated that the landlord “wasn’t accommodating”...and that issue with the broken window...remember?
Idk why it was refreshing to hear that you get negative comments but I love that you turned it into a funny! I am so happy I found your channel and have been benge watching and loving all of your content! I feel like my creative strengths are increasing each time!!
That's so funny (because it was such an unintelligent and obviously jealous comment) about the "design sandwich"! Way to turn it around and commission some cool art :) I don't get why some people just want to drag others down all the time. Your style is awesome and I love how the apartment feels both cohesive and eclectic at the same time. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the new mystery space!
Alexandra, your entire apartment is absolutely gorgeous!! I too am in love with that pink paint and the peel and stick star tiles in the bathroom! And of course, all of your plants bring the perfect amount of greenery to your space! I really appreciate the design inspiration! *#alexandragater*
I love your apartment. I've been living in the same rental for years and in such a high cost of living area, I won't be able to afford a home here. But with your inspiration, maybe I can start designing my rental! Thanks!
Colleen here, absolutely gorgeous, nicely done! My favs are all the pink and gold accents as well as that gorgeous ingenious bookcase...oh and that purple sofa, so beautiful.
Alexandra, you are SO lucky to have that apartment! Especially considering how condo buildings have taken over Toronto. I moved to Toronto in '93 after college, and my first few apartments were in houses. I say few because they kept getting sold and I'd have to move. I loved renting in a house because there are so many cool old ones there, but I eventually moved to an apartment building because my nerves couldn't take going through the house selling stuff anymore. I moved to Vancouver 4 years ago, and I'm in a small old low-rise now. Switched from a 1 bedroom to a cute bachelor, and have still to put the place together. Thanks for sharing so much of your home. It brings back great memories of my first years in Toronto. Hope you're somewhere cool...I do NOT miss the humidex there! 😄🌺🌿
Lottie is so precious, I have totally loved both of your apartment designs over the past and now. I love the new one because it is so warm and love the pastels
For that room, I liked your previous cane bedhead better. Did you upholster it? The cane bedhead was a clever solution to the head being against the window. Didn’t block out light. But was decorative.
Hello Alexandra just wanted to say you have definitely changed my perspective on decor/design. I have always been stuck in my OLD RUSTIC WAYS ... thanks to you I am slowly moving towards getting a fresh new look to my home. Thank you so much for all that you do. LETS SHARE A Design Sandwich
I have some questions about your bathroom floor. How long has it been there? Since it is a wall covering, does it wear well? Did you seal it with anything to make it moisture proof? TIA. The whole apartment is just darling and suits you so well.
Thank you for bringing personality ,fun and character back into design ! Best ingredients for a design sandwich 😉 Keep it up Alexandra , am inspired every time I watch.
Alexandra - please explain how you connect your headboard to the bed. I seriously have no idea how to do it. Love you and your vids! I'm SO happy when I get notified of a new one in my email!

is it possible that Alexandra is moving in the loft (from the SorryGirls)?! I think she hinted that she would like to have a loft and they just moved out... 🧐
Omg I am dreaming it already.... Hope that is the thing!!!!!!
I thought so too!!!!
Vitz Reka, I highly doubt it! That space is probably too big for Alexandra's needs, plus the landlord wasn't very accommodating. Why do you think the Sorry Girls moved? ;)
The Sorry Girls also mentioned that their old loft only had stairs (no elevator). But I also won’t rent it after they stated that the landlord “wasn’t accommodating”...and that issue with the broken window...remember?
i know, i know, but it would be so funny, it could become the hottest diy/decor loft of Toronto 😝
I need a full video of just Lottie 😭💙
Me too tbh
Idk why it was refreshing to hear that you get negative comments but I love that you turned it into a funny! I am so happy I found your channel and have been benge watching and loving all of your content! I feel like my creative strengths are increasing each time!!
Also you should NEVER leave this apartment it is too cool and with so many charming amenities!
Such a bright, lovely space. I took so much inspiration from your apartment, I love your style. And an excellent way to handle negative comments 😂
Can't believe someone was so rude to you! Brilliant clap back with the art - love your work
Harriet!! 😻 I love her. Always love your apartment.
Thanks!
Her apartment is so beautiful but that patio area outside stole my heart I always say if I could live outside I would and that patio is too beautiful.
What I love the best from your apartment is your garden. It's AMAZING!!
I used the Quadrostyle vendor. Their stuff is AMAZING. Thank you for introducing me to them!
Colleen here, absolutely gorgeous, nicely done! My favs are all the pink and gold accents as well as that gorgeous ingenious bookcase...oh and that purple sofa, so beautiful.
I think the bathroom floor gave it a witchy vibe to the space.. And I love it!
You’re taking over the studio apartment below you
as your new office space.
That would make for an easy commute 😂
I love your apartment so much. It feels so warm and welcoming. Hello Harriett and Lotte.
When life gives you a troll, make troll art. Ha! Love it, good for you! You and your kitties are adorable 🍋 🖼 🐱🐱💕
You have a green thumb all your plants look good!
Love your style! I am looking for the perfect pink to paint my meditation room. What color did you use? I couldn’t tell from the link. Thanks!
Thank you for welcoming us in. ❤
Beautiful as usual. You and the space, lady. ❤
I really hate those nasty trolls. You're a beautiful soul, never forget that. Thank you for brightening my day, Alexandra :) ☀🌸🌷
Such a cute apartment. It's flows well and is peaceful. Love the cats.
Alexandra, you are living the life I wish I had 30 years ago! Enjoy!
Such a beautiful home! I would be very happy being quarantined in such a lovely space.
I love your whole apt and the deck in the trees is such a tranquil out door space.
I don’t see you moving any time soon but your getting a new work space! I can feel it ❤️🙌🏾
SO ADORABLE, COZY and FUN!!!
I have some questions about your bathroom floor. How long has it been there? Since it is a wall covering, does it wear well? Did you seal it with anything to make it moisture proof? TIA. The whole apartment is just darling and suits you so well.
💖💖💖💖💖 Your Entire Apartment Is PINTEREST 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you for bringing personality ,fun and character back into design ! Best ingredients for a design sandwich 😉 Keep it up Alexandra , am inspired every time I watch.
Love your style! Also, please make a compilation of all the times Lottie has appeared in your videos! She's all grown up now!
Alexandra - please explain how you connect your headboard to the bed. I seriously have no idea how to do it. Love you and your vids! I'm SO happy when I get notified of a new one in my email!
You have a nice home! Love the splash of pink all the way through your apartment 😉🌸💕
Love the sandwich print 😂 i do not understand why you get so much hate
