oh. God! i saw this programme when i was a student in high (cathedral college seminary)! i remember some of joe's remarks, answers, etc from a vantage point of some 69 years ago. God bless joe mccarthy...i'm 85 and joe was a good catholic, great senator, and a marine from the word go. in 1957 or threabouts, my dad and i went to carnegie hall to see joe, bill jenner, and others give lincoln's bithday speeches on the communist menace. joe would applaud by pounding his big farm-boy fists into his other hand.
