Also, now that I think about it: something about adding cold water to rice weirdly disgusts me? As much as I love rice, the thought of individual rice grains in cold water makes me lose my appetite for some reason... :x

​@@PunsterSubs Ah I see. I'm used to a hot soup base ('tang fan'/soup rice) but I've never had rice with a cold water base. Maybe I'll need to give this a go some time with some liberties in ingredients. I doubt I'd find Japanese ginger in the UK, but I'm at least sure a regular old cucumber would do fine...
