the first in-game cinematic was not in this video, the cutscene is known as Wrathgate
      by the way, i wanted to let you know a few things;
      1. Garrosh was beyond redemption, he used the Horde to commit a whole host of atrocities, including murder Cairne Bloodhoof, leader of the Horde's Tauren. as well as start a war that threatened to destroy Pandaria itself.
      2. Humans are built the way they are for lore reasons, as Humans descended from Titan Watchers that were inflicted with the Curse of Flesh by the Old Gods.
      3. the Warcraft movie literally was the story of WC1, hence why all you really saw were Orcs and Humans.
      4. the title of Warchief is of Orc tradition, in the Horde the one who makes all the decisions in wartime is the Warchief. or at least was, they have a council nowadays, a single leader has always led to turmoil, Sylvanas was the last official Warchief.

Yeah you should really start with the warcraft 3 cinematics. They tie the whole story together and give a lot of context. This compilation probably lacks about an hours worth of smaller cinematics and in game events that really tie things together.

Arthas’ story in this game is my absolute favorite. Once a prince that was blessed with holy light and became a paladin became vengeful and hate filled toward a demon lord who challenged him to find him in northrend. There he found his sword Frostmourne and sacrificed a part of his soul just to get vengeance on the demon lord for what he did to Arthas’ people. The sword eventually ate all of his soul and he later picked up the helmet he wore in the cinematic the “helm of domination” and that completely surrendered his soul to darkness

Arthas would still likely have no chance, since (what wasn't know at that point). Sylvanas was empowered by a god, while the helmet and frostmourne were even created by him as tool to slowly forge the way for his freedom (what failed).
It's unlikely that Arthas could hold against it, just like the Light was able to break Frostmourne (the real thing that killed him, the players would have had no chance indeed).

Thats a dwarf not an elf at the start. The dark elfes called Night Elves (or Kaldorei) here. The horny Cow like big guys are the Taurens. The tentacle beard guys with the klingon forehead are the Dreanei. You can see them in the movie at the start when Gul'dan opens the dark portal with their souls. The white skinned elf who killed the spiritual dragons and shit are the Blood Elves ( or sin’dorei)

  • @CarlosHuiskens
    @CarlosHuiskens 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +22

Bruh called a dwarf a Chunky little Elf. I can't tell whether or not you were serious but that shit had me dying of laughter hahaha. Also to provide a little more context.
    - Fun Fact: It's called a Night Elf not a Dark Elf. There are even Void Elfs. What's interesting about this is the fact that all elves ( as far as I know ) descended from a ancient tribe of Dark Trolls.
    - The character at the end of the second trailer was the main antagonist Illidan Stormrage. He was a Night Elf but transformed into a Demon by the Fell energies from the Skull of Gul'dan which he holds in the trailer.
    - The character in the third trailer is Arthas Menethil. A Human prince that eventually became the first Death Knight in service of The Lich King and eventually became The Lich King himself.
    - The Dragon in the fourth trailer is Deathwing The Destroyer. Formerly called Neltharion the Earth-Warder before he was corrupted by the Old Gods.
    - No that isn't Thrall in the fifth trailer. He appears in a few seperate cinametics as you've seen. But as for primarily expansion cinametics he's only present in the newest one which you came out a few days ago and you haven't seen yet.
    - The two Orcs primarily featured in the sixth trailer is Grommash Hellscream and the one in the hood is his son Garrosh Hellscream from the prime timeline who traveled 35 years into the past to alter events to ensure that the Orcs refuse the Blood Pact which originally bound them to the service of the Demonic Burning Legion.
    - In the 7th trailer we primarily see Varian Wyrnn who at that time was the King of Stormwind and High King of the Alliance. The other character you saw was Sylvannas Windrunner. Formerly a High Elf that was killed by Arthas/The Lich King and raised as an undead Banshee. At the time of this expansion she was the Queen of the Forsaken A.K.A Undead and was named Warchief of the Horde. Also they weren't fighting each other but were fighting The Burning Legion that returned to Azaroth in that expansion. Also I wouldn't say Humans were designed to be very bulky. It may seem that way because of their armor but it wouldn't be surprising if they come across that way because are decended from Half-Giants.
    - The Eigth Cinametic trailer shows a piece of another War between the Horde ( led by Sylvannas ) and the Aliiance ( led by Anduin ). relations between the Horde and the Alliance soured since the previous expansion and because Sylvannas ordered the burning of the World Tree ( as seen in the cutscene before the cinametic ) a new War started. Also the previous King of Stormwind Varian Wyrnn died in the previous expansion which is why his son Anduin is King now.
    - In the Ninth trailer we see Sylvannas again but you incorrect assume a few things. 1. She isn't after territory and 2. It isn't the same person currently holding the title of The Lich King. During the third expansion Arthas was defeated but in order to keep the Scourge under control there must always be a Lich King and so Bolvar Fordragon took up the mantle. He was tought killed during the third expansion but he was resurrected by Dragon's Fire but his body scarred behind regonition.
As for Sylvannas her situation is more complicated but basically after her escaping the control of Arthas she vowed to have revenge on him. After his defeat she felt she didn't have purpose anymore and commited suicide ( which is funny consider she was already dead more or less ). After commiting suicide she met Zovaal A.K.A The Jailer and she fell for his plan of changing the cycle of life and death. This drove her actions after the third expansion. She wanted to free herself and the Forsaken of an eternity of suffering by breaking this cycle and she convinced herself any price was worth paying.
    - In the 10 trailer we see the return of the Dragons to Azaroth. As someone pointed out that was indeed a Dragon talking. The dragon Deathwing once belonged to this collection of Dragons.

@@Kitynn4u Very good point. Also another interesting point: Anduin (blonde son of Varian) is named as such as the character Lothar from the movie basically became Varian's father-figure, and his full name is Anduin Lothar. So it's a good bit of continous storytelling there.
I must say I am a tad bit surprised he wanted the orcs to be Thrall throughout the reaction, as Thrall is not mentioned in the movie. But it's the name he took after being raised (by decent people as far as I remember) and later *enthralled* by humans. In the movie they give him the name Go'el, the son of Durotan and Draka.
Also, later when Thrall regains his freedom and joins what's left of the horde they are lead by Orgrim Doomhammer. Durotan's friend from the movie. And after they find a mostly uninhabited land, which they name Durotar (daddy), Orgrim dies and Thrall picks up both his armor and weapon which is also seen in several scenes - called the Doomhammer. They then raise a new city for the Orcs and name it Orgrimmar (step-uncle), as it's called in these reactions.

To explain how the movie connects to the 'game', the movie takes place in what would be the "First War", which is connected the Warcraft RTS games of the 90s. Still, what happens in the movie is heavily 'rushed' compared to the three RTS games, which cover the first, second and third war. The movie squished a metric ton of lore to make it more 'watchable' for non-warcraft fans. As a result, the movie is not really 'canon' to the games, but it's like a vague precursor. Between the end of the movie and the 'start' of "World of Warcraft", it's still well over 20-30 years of in-universe time.

TL;DR for each warcraft thing. Warcraft the film kinda sorta covers Warcraft (the strategy games) but does some things different.
Warcraft 2: the second war between orcs and humans, they invade the human kingdom of Lordaeron but Gul'dan has his demon masters' agenda to attend to, leaves and fails. Because of this the Horde loses.
Warcraft 3: an adult Thrall reforms a horde (a less evil one this time) to make an exodus with a number of orcs to Kalimdor, across the seas and unsettled (mostly) by humans. Orcs make a few allies with the local trolls and tauren. Meanwhile, events conspire as planned by demons for Lordaeron's prince Arthas to fall to darkness and become the Lich King. He goes to Northrend to get that evil sword, comes back, unleashes undeath across Lordaeron, and invades the capital of the high elves to revive a really strong necromancer. He then brings The Biggest Demon to Azeroth, who just barely gets stopped, then weakens and goes back to Northrend to rest.
World of Warcraft: In the time since Warcraft 3, the Horde and Alliance have begun stabilizing. The alliance consists of the humans and dwarves, longtime allies, the gnomes who had their own issues this whole time, and the night elves who lost their world tree in that demon invasion. The Horde has started growing and includes orcs, trolls, tauren, and a contingent of undead left behind when Arthas left. Since he weakened, they regained their free will and call themselves the Forsaken, led by Sylvanas. They live in what's left of Lordaeron. Some evil dwarves start causing trouble when they summon the Elemental Lord of fire, we deal with that. An evil black dragon with a flair for magic and science is backing a bunch of (other) orcs in the same mountain and is a threat so we kill him. A race of bug monsters breaks out of an ancient seal and threatens the world, so we go there and kill their dark god. A contingent of the lich king's undead (they're called the scourge) show up again and they're pushed back to Northrend.
Burning Crusade: What's left of the draenei, after escaping the orcs on draenor, crashland on Azeroth and join the alliance because the orcs aren't in it. The former high elves, now called blood elves due to the loss of the Sunwell (big supermagic pool) and their capital in the scourge invasion, have rebuilt and join the horde, as humans did them pretty dirty in Warcraft 3. The dark portal opens and demons start jumping through, so we take the fight through there and onto the former Draenor, now called Outland. Allied to a couple of demon factions are some of the orcs left behind when the portal last closed, a number of blood elves following the former leader, a number of naga, and Illidan who was a big guy in WC3. We take out a ton of them, the demons try to access the Sunwell to summon one of their big leaders but we shove him back last minute.
Lich King: Arthas wakes up, starts doing stuff. We gotta do something, and luckily a few of his soldiers called death knights regain their free will and join either the horde or alliance, depending on their race. We head to Northrend to kill a lot of this scourge. Dragons are here and are our allies, but some blue dragons went a little crazy and tried to take all the magic for themselves. We take out the floating necropolis of Naxxramas. There are some rumblings in a Titan prison facility that could ruin this invasion so we go there and silence the imprisoned Thing there. We storm the Lich King's citadel, kill him, and shatter the sword. There has to be someone to control the remaining mindless scourge so a practically-dead paladin puts the helmet on himself to pacify them.
Cataclysm: The biggest and strongest black dragon is this guy called Deathwing, formerly Neltharion. Some dark, powerful thing of shadow called an old god (killed one in classic and Lich King) started whispering in his ear a few thousands of years ago. He caused trouble then, but the other dragon types stopped him. He's back and here to break the world with elemental allies. The Bilgewater Cartel of goblins join the horde because Deathwing blew up their island. The isolated Gilnean humans are afflicted with a werewolf curse but kept sane by night elf magic so they join the alliance (we call them worgen). We kill the elemental lords of air and fire and help the lords of earth and water. Thrall names this war hero orc Garrosh warchief because this elemental stuff has him too busy as a shaman. The black dragon from classic didn't die and has done WAY more terrible things so we kill him for real this time. With the help of all the other dragons we take out Deathwing.
Pandaria: We find the lost land of Pandaria where the Pandaren live. Most remain neutral, but a few join the alliance or the horde. While we do deal with a number of native more contained issues, we also bring war to their shores which wakes up what remains of a dead Old God. Garrosh gets a bit too power hungry, finds the heart of this dead old god, and takes its power for himself, basically declaring war on everybody alongside his inner circle of loyalists. We beat him and take him into custody to stand trial.
Warlords of Draenor: Garrosh escaped. Back in time. To Draenor. No paradoxes, this is an alternate Draenor now, a branched timeline. He builds his own IRON horde (how many of those have we had) with the orcs there and future goblin tech, stopping the orcs from being manipulated by demons in this timeline and unites most orc clans under them. He uses alternate Gul'dan as a battery to make a new dark portal connecting to our Azeroth, so we take the fight to them. We stop the portal but unfortunately alt Gul'dan escapes. We dismantle the iron horde, Gul'dan gets some alternate orcs to work for demons out of desperation, we stop that from coming to a head and kill a demon general but alternate Gul'dan escapes.
Legion: Alternate Gul'dan brings the demons right to Azeroth and they're full-on invading. Alliance's king dies, his son Anduin takes over. The horde's warchief Vol'jin dies from wounds sustained, Sylvanas takes the mantle. Heroes get mindblowingly strong historical weapons to fight them back properly. We beat them off Azeroth, and go to their seat of power, the Draenei's original homeworld. Their leader is a Titan, Sargeras, who betrayed the others in order to beat back a vague threat known as the void lords. Old Gods are servants of the void lords, we know. Basically, if all worlds are dead like Outland and under his thumb he can stop it from gaining influence. With the help of the Titans' spirits, we imprison him, but not before he stabs a MASSIVE sword into Azeroth.
Battle for Azeroth: So turns out that Azeroth has the soul of what could be a titan inside of it, and a strong one at that. Explains why the void and Sargeras are so enamored with it. That sword wound is causing a powerful magical substance called azerite to spring out. Horde and Alliance get back to war because of the new resource, mistrust, and old and new grudges. And Sylvanas burning down the Night Elves' capital and its surrounding land. She's been sus since Cataclysm, ramping up in Legion. Anyway don't worry about the big sword in the planet, instead worry about the remaining living old god making itself known and exerting its power. It's intensely hard fought but we take him down, though with the help of this void-y sentient knife Xal'latath. Oh yeah and we oust Sylvanas for her to...
Shadowlands: For her to almost ruin existence itself. She beats the current lich king and breaks his helmet, opening a portal to The Afterlife. People don't like this one's story and neither do I, so. The shadowlands has a few different afterlives for different types of people to go to. The worst and most unforgiveable go to The Maw. In the maw there's this guy called the Jailer, and he's the one who gave demons the lich king's helmet and sword in order to manipulate the living world. Sylvanas breaking the helmet means that every soul now goes to the Maw. The Jailer's going to use this to in some way alter reality to his design because of some vague threat he knows about. Anduin is kidnapped and dominated, we free him but he gets super-PTSD from it. We beat The Jailer and set things as they should be, but Sylvanas has to find everyone's soul in the Maw that got sent there due to her bullshit and get them in the right place.
Dragonflight: The dragons' ancestral homeland, the Dragon Isles, have been hidden magically for a long. Long time. Now they aren't, and primal Proto-Dragons who broke out of their prison in the interim aren't happy that dragons are returning. Deal with that, the leftovers of forgotten Dragon plot threads, and some baggage that other dragons have there from the past.
The War Within: Not out yet, but... Hey, remember that whole thing about Azeroth having a soul, and getting stabbed with a big sword? And that obviously evil void being Xal'latath that just sort of disappeared? Yeah, we should probably address all of those, huh? Yeah, let's do something with those.
Geez, even a TL;DR is too long, imagined that would be a lot shorter.

As someone who put in too much time into this game, I freakin appreciate seeing new viewers reactions to all these cinematics. I have a long winded explanation with my opinion:
I completeley agree with Sylvannis overstaying her welcome, and think you nailed a lot more points on the head than what I expected. The big thing was though you acknowledging that she could take over second lich kings forces would have been 1000x better than what we ended up actually getting. But they were trying really hard to not repeat the issue of how they handled Garrosh - which the playerbase was literally divided on him as the leader of the Horde. Garrosh was really freakin cool when he was brought in imo, was really strong and was a really good set up as a war leader in Cataclysm. However in Mists of Pandaria he VERY abruptly started showing this very sudden and bold xenophobic "orcs above all else" campaign where he literally isolated everything that wasn't an orc. The Horde itself is conceived of multiple different races and factions that banded together under a mutual defense pact. This pact has Orcs, Trolls, Minotaurs, Undead, Elves and Goblins (among a couple others that would be added) where everyone equally shares their talents and gifts and helps overcome each other's short comings. Garrosh breaking this trust sorta put him on a villain arc, to which the writers chose not to have a redemption arc. The "trial" he faced in pandaria he escaped mid trial and fled to..... "Draenor 35 years ago that is also in an alternative timeline." It was convoluted.
Vol'jin was appointed for an entire expansion before they literally killed him off for Sylvannis, and it appeared that they were taking her in a direction similar to Garrosh - which would be very in character of her - but they wanted to do something "that wasn't just Garrosh" all over again. So instead they had her literally break reality for some big bad evil guy nobody (The Players) knew about. It was an awkward thing where they introduced this whole new megavillain and "revealed" (bs'd) that they were responsible for everything a long eatablished character had done from and up to a certain point. Shadowlands was a huge low point in WoW, real world criminal allegations aside.
AS FOR THE WEIRD BODY PROPORTIONS: Warcraft initially was an idea pitched to Games Workshop over in England as an idea for an "Orcs vs Humans" tabletop wargame. They turned them down, and so they made it into a Realtime Strategy. Wargaming figures make use of exaggerated proportions around the shoulders, head and weapons wielded because they are easier to see when standing at a table looking down at them. I imagine that this was the design choice that they decided to go with for their earlier games and just stuck with it because it was not only effective in function, but just really freakin cool in general.
I only just so happened to pass by your channel. If you hadn't, you should check out both the in-game and CGI cutscenes from the realtime strategy games Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos and the expansion Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. It tells the whole story of Arthas, and sets up so much background for World of Warcraft, and are timeless classics. They can answer the questions like "What the heck is Kalimdor" and "Who the heck is that winged dude with the skull that my body was not prepared for"

WoTLK is still the best video game cinematic I've ever seen. The cgi is still impressive to this day, the music, the trailer itself, but the cherry on top is how perfect his fathers word are through the entire thing. Arthas will likely be my favorite video game character for the rest of my life, Shadowlands isn't cannon for me so. I don't play anymore anyway.
Highly recommend watching a video on Neltharion's, aka Deathwing, lore. It is easily some of the best character development I've had the joy of the experiencing. Literal Earth-Warder turned bad guy.

A lot of context is missing from within the WoW cinematics, but also the cinematics from Warcraft 3/The Frozen Throne expansion. For Warlords of Draenor (Guldan, Grom Hellscream, the weird demon thing named Mannoroth) has a nice little nod to one of the WC3 cinematics. Grom in that timeline also killed Mannoroth, but much later after drinking the cup from Gul'Dan (there is some wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff going on in this expansion). Grom dies as Mannoroth explodes into that fiery nova at 24:20 . This time, as if to say "expect us to rewrite history", they show Grom being saved from the explosion instead of succumbing to it.
36:30 Yeah, the Ice King guy from the Wrath of the Lich King cinematic, Arthas, struck her down, but instead of letting her die he turned her into a banshee, then had her kill her people. She had an amazing arc rivaled only by Arthas himself throughout WC3/Frozen Throne expansion. After Wrath and her vengeance against Arthas and his Scourge as complete as it can be, the writers had to give her a new story to continue on, but at least for me personally, they missed the mark heavily (I wanna live. You can see how awesome she is in the later cinematics (fighting-wise), but like her motivations seem so much different than they were originally and it's hard to reconcile the two. I hope that the last cinematic with her at war with herself was them trying to reconcile her character again. Someone who played Shadowlands, please let me know what happened because I'm curious but do not have the time or energy to play the story myself.

If I remember correctly, the movie Warcraft is actually based on the original Warcraft games that came out in the 90s, specifically Warcraft and Warcraft 2. World of Warcraft (WOW) takes place several years after Warcraft 3 and these games all run chronologically from one to the next. It's what Blizzard has done well over the years, progress the story lines of a huge cast of characters and slowly unveiled an entire universe; bringing in new lore, races, and characters as well as having old characters literally grow up with each expansion or die. To explain the full lore would take a billboard with red string running across it like tangled mess of interconnected stories and plots that keeps growing even now, nearly 20 years later. Its the only reason I keep going back. The game mechanics are a grind that gets old really fast but the lore is immaculate.

Fun fact, There was a Attempt by the pandaran to give garrosh a redemeption arc with his trial (basically choosing weather he was executed or rehiblitated, this is from the in canon novel "war crimes") he chose instead to break free, travel to a alternate timeline thanks to a time dragon, kill said time dragon, and then alter the course of the horde in that time line and have it invade the prime timeline. thrall was absolutely done with staying his hand there. he'd done it too many times.

so the King of Stormwind in the movie is Lane Wrynn, the 2 kings you see in the World of warcraft cinematics are his son Varian Wrynn and grandson Anduin Wrynn. the movie takes place in the first war, also known as the original Warcraft game, World of Warcraft started 35 years after the time of the movie and 4 years after the 3rd war or Warcraft III. Prince Arthas was a character in Warcraft 3 who started off as a Paladin of the Silver hand and Heir to the throne of the kingdom of Lorderon (another human kingdom)......during Warcraft 3 Arthas become corrupted and eventually kills his own father and leads an army of undead to destroy the kingdom of Lorderon. he later goes north to the land of Northrend and takes the Crown of the Lich king at The Frozen Throne. Arthas was defeated at the end of the Wrath of the Lich King DLC and another guy named Bolvar had to take his place to keep the army of the undead scourge from spreading out and killing everything without a king to control them, that is who Sylvanas fought in the Shadowlands trailer, not Arthas.

Some context for Warlords of Draenor: To put it simply the events in the trailer proceeded the Warcraft movie, Gul'dan offers the blood of Mannoroth (the big dude that came in) to the orcs, promising them power. What he didn't mention is this would bind them to Kil'jaeden, a powerful demon from the Burning Legion. It turned the orcs into corrupted savages. Garrosh Hellscream, with this knowledge and some help from time-travelling dragons (The Bronze Dragonflight), returns 35 years to the past to warn his father of Gul'dan's betrayal. That's why Grommash Hellscream refused to drink the blood this time.
Some context for Wrath of the Lich King: Arthas was the prince of Lordaeron and was just a child during the events of Warcraft the movie. The only son of Terenas Menethil II, a wise and powerful king of Lordaeron, the strongest human kingdom. He became friends with Varian Wrynn (son of the king in the Warcraft movie) and was a notable love interest for Jaina Proudmore (blonde lady in cinematic). He would eventually become a Paladin being tutored by Uther (bearded guy at the end, who Arthas later kills). 19-20 years after the events of the movie, a cult (the cult of the damned) starts spreading a virulent plague across the lands of Lordaeron turning the inhabitants into undead. He discovers a necromancer named Kel'Thusad and a demon called Mal'ganis are behind the plague. In one city, Stratholme, he decides the only way to stop the plague is to butcher the city. Uther and Jaina abandon him for this. He follows the demon to a northern continent (seen in trailer) and discovers two things: a cursed sword corrupted him, and the helm of domination, (giving him the power over the undead). The corrupted Arthas returns to Lordaeron, kills his father, and lays waste to his kingdom and the kingdom of the high elves. Amassing a powerful army then fleeing to the northern continent. - Your shining knight falls from grace tale.

10:05 At first glance this trailer just looks like some random guy being frozen in ice that raises a dragon from the ice, but the lore and story behind it goes so much deeper. The story about Arthas and his downfall is without a doubt the most tragic story in the gaming industry ever created. Arthas was the prince of Lordaeron and was loved by everyone. From an early age he was trained to become a Paladin, a righteous and holy warrior fighting for the human race. Then came The Scourge threatening the very existence of the world and Arthas decided to save the world by defeating it, no matter the cost. He was forced to make lots of impossible choices, like having to kill everyone in a city that had become cursed by the plague, also known as The Culling of Stratholme.
On his path to save the world Arthas lost himself and later on became the very thing he sought to destroy. This expansion was the peak of World of Warcraft and this cinematic is such a masterpiece when you know the backstory to Arthas. You can hear his fathers distant words how he wanted his son to turn out, which is the complete opposite of what actually happened. His father (the king) says: "My child, I watched with pride as you grew into a weapon of righteousness" while Arthas unsheathes the corrupted blade Frostmourne, the most evil weapon ever to exist. All he wanted was to save everyone he loved but ended up killing them all instead. Such tragedy.

Arthas definitely did not use restraint fighting the players back in 2009 considering he is only 1 of 2 bosses that actually kill the players before they are revived and defeat him. The only other boss to do this was Argus in Legion. Also this put siege of orgrimmar and garrosh's defeat out of order. The fact that even Nathanos ( who is forsaken) hesitated when Sylvanas demands him to burn Teldrassil shows how much the Jailor has corrupted Sylvanas.

Short explanation of the whole Sylvanas arc:
After Arthas (the one who had killed and turned her) was defeated, she tried to end her life, only to realise, that after that comes the Shadowlands, the Realm of the Cosmic Power Death, in which mortal souls are pretty much just cattle - if not even worse, milked for their "anime" (the experience they made in their short life) until they cease to be or just be reborn to begin the cycle anew.
The "Jailer" - one of the Death Gods who already went against that system once, but was defefeated by the others and condmend to be the "jailer" of the Maw (where the most dangerous souls were sent, too dangerous too even milk them) and chained to with domination magic - told here there, that he still plans to abolish the system, but for that he has to break free from his prison, then he can overcome the other death gods and change the system for all mortals, setting them free of this despotic torture.
Sylvanas - also seeing how he was distorted by domination magic, just as her - took this chance and even went along with the demand that they needed many souls sent to the Shadowlands to get the energy to break free, that's why she pushed for an escalation and war and all the death coming with it. Not only did her turning into a Banshee take many emotions and empathy from her in contrats to the high elf she had been, but comparing life (she calls a "flicker") to the eternity of death made it lost all meaning (the reason why she calls horde as alliance tin soldiers without any clue and alike).
She overall reaches everything she wants, but when the Jailer is freed and gets the stolen part of his souls back and with it his full power, he tells her, that he will not free mortals, but just abolish everything and transform the whole universe into something that only serves him.
He overall would be fine with her going along, thinking, that she has cut all bounds to mortality and would care as little for mortals as he does, but she instead goes against him instantly (of course with zero chance to stop him, since most of her power is coming from him...), what he just shrugs about and - as a poisoned gift for helping him getting his foul soul back - gives her her missing part of her soul back, that was once cut out of her by Arthas via the cursed blade Frostmourne.
This soul piece was frozen in time from the moment of her death and turning into a Banshee and while now reunited with her again, it didn't want to accept what her 'living' part had become - the reason why her body can't wake up.
For this small soul fragment of the General Sylvanas Windrunner, reuniting with Banshee Queen Windrunner means to also be condemned for all the war crimes her brutal self had comitted (no matter the goal) by the Alliance, but not doing it would also mean, that she would be the reason that there was no chance to stop the Death God before he is able to reach his goal.
So even the General accepts this, while it's not like Sylvanas became different, even though she is whole again: after all, the decision to go against the Jailer the moment he betrayed her and giving up all the power she had gotten from this and instead give herself up to the Alliance and Horde (who mostly want to slaughter her), that was done by Banshee Queen Sylvanas all alone.
In the end she reached a lot of what she wanted, even with that betrayal, because her doing changed a lot in the Shadowlands for the better for mortals.
It was pretty well done, since it was impossible to see what all her plans were about and she simply seemed to be megalomaniac and powerhungry, but of course couldn't tell anyone, since if any of the other Death Gods would have known of the plan, they could have easily stopped it for sure.
Sad enough, the majority of people don't like it, when a villain isn't like a James Bond movie or alike and explaint everything in great detail.

22:12 that is not Blackhand, that is Grommash Hellscream, Garrosh's father. The bald orc that says "times change" is Garrosh. The reason that cutscene starts with a "35 years ago" is because in this expansion Garrosh goes back in time to stop his father from drinking Mannoroth's blood. That's what Mannoroth meant by "you reject this gift?" That's why there are green orcs and brown orcs. Orcs are supposed to be brown, the ones who drank the blood of Mannoroth became tainted by fel magic and turned green. Gul'dan had the whole orc race convinced that the fel was a gift, but Garrosh told him that it turned them all into slaves of the Burning Legion. There is a cutscene from Warcraft 3 that shows the end of the other timeline, where Thrall and Grommash face Mannoroth in combat and free the orcs from enslavement to the fel.
26:41 While no one's hands are clean in that war, Garrosh bombed Theramore Isle. A mostly-civilian settlement. He is accused to poisoning Cairn Bloodhoof, who he faced in a duel for his freedom. Garrosh didn't poison his weapon, nor did he know it was poisoned. Garrosh's worst crime though, is that he attempted to consume the power of an old god so he could bring all non-orcs to either death or enslavement.
28:14 Garrosh had three chances for a redemption arc, he chose blood every time. Even in death Garrosh refuses to yield.
34:00 It was a major shock at the time when Vol'jin made Sylvanas warchief. They added so much weight to Sylvanas' reaction too, like she really took it to heart. We didn't find out until later, when we go to the afterlife and can actually interact with the spirit who whispered to Vol'jin. Mueh'zala is a former Loa of death, who is bitter about being replaced so he joins with the expansion's main enemy to manipulate events. It turns out that making Sylvanas warchief was part of a bigger plan to get Sylvanas to start as much conflict as she could in her time as warchief to kill as many people as she could, because their souls were powering Zovaal the main enemy of the expansion.
37:55 The Burning of Teldrassil still brings a tear to my eye.
56:52 Saurfang being able to split Shalamane into two is massively significant. A lot of weapons are sentient in this universe, they can restrict their power if they don't like the wielder. They can also imbue their wielder with massive power, like we saw with Anduin's massive heal bubble, and Saurfang dealing massive damage to Sylvanas' cheek.
57:00 I just noticed the spiderman blinking and now it's distracting.
59:22 If it is any consolation, Sylvanas has been tasked with searching every inch of the afterlife for all the souls she trapped there and making sure they end up in the afterlife they were meant for.
1:00:35 that is not Arthas. We kill Arthas at the end of "Wrath of the Lich King" and a new guy puts on "The Crown of Domination" and becomes the new Lich King. That is Bolvar Fordragon, who was almost killed by Arthas at the battle of the Wrathgate, but was rescued by red dragons who imbued his skin with dragon fire.
1:04:26 This is the culmination of Zovaal's plan to make Slyvanas warchief, The Lich King was just a puppet of Zovaal the whole time and destroying the crown ripped a hole into the afterlife.
You did miss a few, Varian's sacrifice, and the conversations between Rokkal and Saurfang leading up to the fight with Sylvanas.

After killing Saurfang and deserting the horde, Sylvanus goes to the Frozen Throne in Icecrown to challenge the Lich King, after defeating him and destroying the helm of domination, she opens a rift to the Shadowlands, an Afterlife dimension where Valkyr collect the souls of the dead and deliver them to judgement according to their deeds.

For Cataclysm, the super basic lore background is this.
Before the events of World of Warcraft as it exists, there was the War of the Ancients, which was the people of Azeroth against the Burning Legion (big, bad demon army, known for Fel energy). In order to take out the demons on a large enough scale to save the world, the five dragon Aspects banded together to create the Dragon Soul, which infused the core essences of four of them, leaving Deathwing (aka Neltharion) as the crafter of the Dragon Soul. During his crafting, though, one of the Old Gods was whispering to his mind, encouraging him to take the power for himself, which he ultimately did after defeating the Legion. The cinematic with him getting his armor is due (if I remember right) to him not being able to contain all the power within him, so he's literally keeping himself together with those armor pieces, and since he was the Aspect of the earth, him waking up and lashing out and everything is what caused Azeroth to rupture and break.

Legion is the only time alliance and horde combine forces against the demonic legions, Varian of the alliance and Vol'jin of the horde are both killed, due to a misunderstanding the fragile truce is shattered, Anduin succeeds his father and Sylvanus becomes warchief of the horde.

I highly recommend and endorse the idea that you try this game for yourself.
First off, it is free up to level 20. There's a lot of story un-pack and places to explore in that free experience.
and Second. The game absolutely doesn't have to feel like a MMO experience. I know it sounds it's that type of game, but actually that's only about like 10% of the game. The entire game can almost be completed finished solo. So you feel like a Main character in a insanely cool story and on the side you see strangers roaming the world in their stories. The perfect RPG experience in my opinion.
But then again how you experience the playthrough might be completely different. :)
Ps. loved you reaction bro. keep up the quality, and I'll keep up the likes 😂

The warcraft movie isnt based on world of warcraft its based on Warcraft, the games that came before world of warcraft, so i think you were confusing a lot of the characters in these cinematics with the characters in the movie but for the most part a lot of the movie characters arent in the same timeline as these cinematics
