for a pig pool - 1. just bury it to the rim. pack the dirt back tight around it. then when one of them step in to it - there is something to support the pool. fill with water. it might last a week. 2. another option, would be to dig the hole for my previous suggestion, then dig it 6 to 8" deeper and wider. put concrete on the bottom, then place the pool in the middle and put concrete around the sides. remove the pool and add concrete to curve the bottom to the sides. Allow it to cure. fill the concrete bowl with water. use hose to wash it out daily and refill.
As suggestion 1 said to partially bury it with the dirt around sides to support it, but instead of a plastic kiddie pool using one of those pre-made koi pond tubs. The plastic is thicker and it's more sturdy.
It won't so easy to clean as there is no way to drain the muddy water. However, if you put the pool back in the concrete, it can be lifted out to clean.
@@meteoman7958 Some of the large plastic/resin tanks have plugs for the winter heaters, could be used as a drain plug. Easy to drain, plug up , and refill it.

Lester and Jami I always enjoy your videos with the animals! I also follow Esther, and she prefers her little plastic pools too. I think because they can prop their chin up on the side to keep their nose and ears out of the water. I’ve noticed that Esther’s dads always have 2 or more pools stacked together to give them more strength. Above ground is probably much more convenient for cleaning and refilling!

I am amazed that your place is so manicured and you and Jami are the only ones doing all this work. The pastures are all bush hogged regularly, and the trees look so healthy. My daddy always said that if you're going to own something you should take care of it. It shows that you all take good care of your farm and sanctuary home.
Rubbermaid makes a 50 gallon livestock tub like the one I bought for my Lab. She went through a lot of kiddy pools flipping them over because she saw me do it after she played in it. I saw one of these large tubs when I took her in for training and they told me they use it to bathe the animals that they board and as a pool for them. I found one at Ace Hardware. It was a great investment. She loved that pool. She is no longer with me but I have fond memories of her splashing in the water and trying to catch the water drops. I doubt a pig would break it down. Hey Lester, Just dig a hole into the ground then lay a tarp or a sheet of waterproof plastic down and then put a paddle/plastic pool INTO the ground so the pigs can't break it with their body. ITS WORKED PERFECTLY for my friends pigs out here in the hot Australian summer days and its easy to pill up and the pool can be lifted out of the ground to clean it. Just get LE to measure the circumference and depth of the pool and it will be done in 30-60 minutes (depending on the size of the pool!

This is going to sound old school. Dig a nice size hole with a nice slope to it and line it with thick black visqueen plastic. Your brother Danny is an ace and digging the hole would be up his alley with his bull-dozing expertise. Visqueen comes in rolls generally 100 feet long with widths of 10 or 20 ft. and is not that expensive. In the 80's and 90's everyone was making decorative ponds out of it. Kids were using it for slip and slides.
Mine have watering holes, we finally went along with this inclination of theirs and they love it, we dug them out and they dredge it up also, so that is what we have done.We have a pond also but they seem to prefer those holes, they are like their little spas!

I recently dug my own pond. It worked out pretty well with pond liner and pebble like rocks covering. Also if you built a little waterfall you can get a pond filter and pump and it could clean itself when the animal get it dirty.
I agree with these girls..the turtle is molded plastic and lots more durable that the baby pools are. I have seen other sanctuaries that stack the baby pools to reinforce them but Tiny Tim needs a bit bigger pile of pools! lol

It was a good idea, and probably would have worked if the pigs didn't like to roll around in dirt and mud. Plastic pools are fragile and the weight of the water would prevent lifting the pool out of the dug hole, therefore, it would have to be drained prior to lifting it out, and cleaned afterwards. Not very practical.
I double my pools. I put the leaky one inside a good one. Or just start with two good ones. Put one inside the other. It is amazing how much stronger this will make it. Eventually with use and water they will fit better and better. I have not had to replace pools in 2 years. I was buying new ones at least twice during the summer. Not sure how this will work with pigs. Mine usually will dump hers out and push it around her pen before I know if it leaks or not. Lol
Yes!! A pool tarp.. Dig hole line with pool tarp.. You can even run a line to use a pool pump to clean the water... Like they use for the fake rivers /ponds....
Dig a bit, drop the pool in the burrow and put patio stones around it. That way you can still empty it out and clean it. The patio stones should sit flush with the top of the pool so the sides won’t get cracked or broken. Just a thought....hope it helps.
Would it not help to dig a hole for th epink pool , just big and deep anough for the pool, so it would not be deep nor loose? Then the ground would hold the sides and it might not bend and crack, and at the same time you could always take it out of the dug hole and wash and put back in the hole in the ground? It would be only deep enough to hide the pool at ground level.
Dig a hole the size and depth of the wading pool, set the pool down in the hole and fill with H2O. The earth around the edges will keep the wading pool from breaking in. It's like an inground pool. To provide for cleaning, maybe use a tarp as the pool liner

Lester, that slide is probably a Step 2 or little tikes brand, they last for every! I’m still using my sons wagon that’s over 24 years old, I use it to move cement blocks! Have you tried a Step 2 or Little Tikes sandbox to put water in? The sandbox will hold water and it’s made out the same stuff as the slide!
Jamie is smart! Id turn the taped side towards the fence so they don't damage it getting in but... id have used tape and made my babies happy too! Right on!
