The releases for The Fox and the Hound, Geppetto, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and The Emperor’s New Groove prompted in this opening we’re released on 13th June, 20th June, 25th July, 10th October and 24th October (all 2001), respectively. The retail counterpart of this opening was released on 7th November 2001.
What;s odd is my Air Bud World Pup release had a promo for this tape, and it had the WDHE logo. Would that have been a error when they made the tape? If not then it might be the first ever release in any region to have the WDHE logo.
PreviewHouse I think the promo on the Air Bud World Pup tape is actually promoting the retail counterpart, not the rental. Your Air Bud World Pup Video was Released on 16th September 2001.
I should have tape uploaded soon enough, but was the retail version updated to have the WDHE logo or was it just a reskin of the rental version? I still think the Air Bud tape was a misprint due to the WDHE logo not being introduced at that time, but i would love to know.
PreviewHouse The retail version has the WDHE logo in the opening and the previews would be different to the rental release. Look at this: th-cam.com/video/oAEzyYJiAuQ/w-d-xo.html The rating screen is taken from the rental release (from 1993) since Roadshow got lazy when making the master for the retail release and didn’t even bother to make an updated rating screen (1994-1996, 1992-1996 for ABC Videos). Another time Roadshow was lazy was with the 1996 retail release of Die Hard with a Vengeance and it had the 1987 Roadshow warning scroll (Helevetica) and the 1993 Roadshow logo (the one from Lightning Jack) since they prepared the retail master in 1995 after the rental release but didn’t bother to update the scroll and logo in 1996.
It's a very interesting topic about these oddities in tapes, so hopefully we will know for sure why the Air Bud tape has the WDHE logo. I still think it's a misprint, especially considering the tape uses the Gradient bumpers that were used from when Disney went in-house for the tapes until I belive 2001.
