    That little ride cymbal sample that you start at 1:36 is really damn cool. It sounds organic too, like a full recording of someone bouncing their drumstick off a ride and not just a single hit that's been delayed.

      Yes the percussion in the Baths Splice pack is fantastic. If you’ve never listened to Baths or Geotic, I’d highly recommend it!

    I think the term trinity has been used since time immemorial to refer to OT/A4/AR. At any rate, this is the most amazing setup possible I think. I have the OT, DNK and Model:Samples and it's like all the music I can dream of comes true, it's fascinating to sit in front of those machines. Considering how much depth comes out of each, taking your time with all three can deliver such inspiring compositions... I think I should leave my computer and go make music in fact haha.
    Thanks a lot for the inspiring video! Always a pleasure to see you and these in the same room :D

    • @SlowHaste

      Thank you!! Yes, in the right hands each of these instruments could be a full setup on their own - so it’s definitely a lot of power (and responsibility) to have all three

    • @philipborlin

      I guess the trinity can be any 3 machines you like but the correct term is actually “dark trinity” and it refers to the mk1 models of the A4/AR/OT.

    Thank you very much for this video.
    Could you maybe elaborate more on the recording process of your octatrack beats? Do you just record through main outs or cue outs too? Do you record track by track? If so, how do you capture that octatrack performance magic? Do you have any tips and recommendations? How do you „post-process“ your octatrack-beats?
    I would be really intrested in your opinion.
    Have a nice day !
    Peace

    • @SlowHaste
      @SlowHaste  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lots of great questions! I just use the main stereo output, run it into a mixer for monitoring, and then into my audio interface. In Logic, I apply light EQ and an “exciter” plug in, but no other post-processing for these youtube videos.

    • @oz434
      @oz434 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It‘s still a bit difficult for me to make a good mix within the octatrack first. So I hesitate to record the whole performance at once. But performing the beat live is really where the magic happens with this device, so I would really like to do that 😁
      I have to practice more and stress less about it I guess 😅
      Anyway, thank you very much for your quick reply. Keep cooking 🙏

  • @1dkappe

    I do Genres with lots of chord changes. Most sequencers have one button or one key key change. The Elektron devices don’t seem to have that capability and are really designed for one chord EDM vamps. Any workarounds for this (short of using a keystep for sequencing duties)?

    • @artificial-woman
      @artificial-woman 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tend to get longer chord changes out of the Elektrons by halving the speed of the sequence on one of the tracks. You get less resolution in the steps (8th notes instead of 16th notes) but usually that’s less important for a chord pattern anyways.
      If the resolution is important you could use trig-locks and set the frequency 1:2 and 2:2 on two steps, to alternate which happens each pass through.
      Combine these two you could get a chord pattern that is kinda ridiculously long. 128 bar chord loops are certainly possible (if my math checks out, could go higher tbh), if a bit tedious to set up

    • @1dkappe
      @1dkappe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@artificial-woman not sure that I was clear. If I had a 12 bar blues in A in an Elektron box, then wanted to transpose it to D, there’s no easy way to do that.

    • @artificial-woman
      @artificial-woman 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@1dkappe Ah gotcha gotcha, my bad 😅 no unfortunately there is no way to do that to my knowledge, excluding just tuning all of your samples and synths down to match the key which would probably result in some artifacting anyways

    • @SlowHaste
      @SlowHaste  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Octatrack is a very fun, but it’s definitely the most underutilized piece of mine, at least so far. I’m working to change that and play to its strengths, but there is so much you can do with just the DT/DN combo on its own! So while I definitely highly recommend the OT - that comes with the caveat that it’s definitely not a “necessity” for most setups!

    • @G0nz0uk
      @G0nz0uk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SlowHaste I’ve recently gone just down to the DN only and become way more creative for some reason, I’ll do the same with the DT at some point and then introduce the 2 again. I seem to be less creative with more gear. Great song btw.

    I always thought if you had a Octotrack, you would be bothered with a Digitakt. These boxes all have the same height, must be satifying to line 'em up in a row.

    • @SlowHaste
      @SlowHaste  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think if I got the OT first, I wouldn’t have added the DT. But the OT has a whole other world past the typical sequencing/sampling you’d expect - it’s definitely a goal of mine to keep exploring those possibilities!

  • @oz434
    @oz434 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    @19:26 If you don’t know by now, you can also hold the Track Button of the Thru track and press the Play Button to open up the Thru track .. I hate this too, but it‘s better than nothing. Still closes when you press stop 3 times though. At least you dont have to press play everytine you want to hear the Thru track (only). A trig in the sequence of the Thru track is not necessary for this to work but can be used simultaneously.

    Hi love this combo thanks so much and had fun trying it out last weekend. After a while the Octatrack sound just cut out and after puzzling about this I think it happened after I connected the midi cable to the Digitakt. I wondered if anyone had any suggestions or had experience of this?. When I changed projects the sound was there and later the sound came back….it was weird. I wondered if there was a setting I need to change. Thanks for the video
