If you felt like the Dreamcast's 3rd party titles were bug free, that was due in part to my group. We were Sega 3rd party test and we made sure that the 3rd party titles were bug free. It was an amazing group to work with and most of us are still friends to this day. The stories we could tell from those days aren't SFW. It was like everyday was rock n roll. Pranks and shenanigans abound in that group. Some got fired for them, but mostly a great group of guys. Truly a one of kind work experience. The day Soul Calibur came into the office for testing... it blew our minds.

All the games were so ambitious and grand in scale, Sonic Adventure, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Jet Set Radio had massive game worlds for the time. Also third party games like Toy Commander showed me physics and interactivity Id never seen before. In terms of narratives as well Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 to this day really pushed the boat out in terms of what 3d platformers can do, when I was younger e102 gammas story line and Shadows arc in SA2 blew my mind lol. Great video, I really hope one day we can get a HD version of Skies of Arcadia

oh man the Dreamcast is definitely one of my favorite consoles of all time. I remember being in school and everyone was talking about that very important date [9.9.99] and everyone trying to figure out if they were going to get one. I ended up getting one around christmas and I just remember playing Sonic Adventure for most of the day... damn i really hope Sega releases a dreamcast mini in the future (also it would be cool if Sega released their candy cabinets in an 1uparcade kind of way...but i guess a guy can only dream[cast], right?)

As much as I've mocked the Dreamcast in joke (people in the RadioSEGA discord will know), you've gotta admit the Dreamcast was a great console. The games on it were and still are amazing even though some have aged badly, I can still find fun out of them like Sonic Adventure, but I've also experienced so little of the library on the platform. Unless you're willing to count ports, I haven't experienced much of the library on the initial platform.
Still, with these ports it just shows how much of a different direction SEGA were going and it was that where we saw some great games. Jet Set Radio, ChuChu Rocket! (which I still love as a puzzle game to this day but play the GBA version more) and for most this game brought online play to people for the first time. Games such as Quake 3 Arena and probably the biggest online game on the console, Phantasy Star Online. I've play that game on the Dreamcast once maybe twice, but once again it was another game I mainly experience through a port via the GameCube.
I'll say this as my last thoughts in this comment. Even though most of my expierences with the Dreamcast is through ports, it just shows how much of a great library it had. But the one thing that has to be said is that it was an end of an era for SEGA. They were having some issues and it lead to them becoming a third party developer. That's not to say it's a bad thing because SEGA is still with us, but it was an end in console history.

The Dreamcast, to me, feels like the most "Nintendo" console that wasn't actually made by Nintendo. It just has ingenuity and aesthetic charm written all over it. It is a shame that it was Sega's last system, but it was a good final console to remember them by.

I loved this video man. Well done to all involved, so good to see other hardcore appreciators of such an epic console. This console followed me through childhood to my teens, it got me through the divorce of my parents and was my escape.

A late reply but thank you for the kind words! I wish I grew up with the Dreamcast, I personally didn't get one until 2019!
