I think Machli was key in reviving Tiger population in Ranthambore/India. She gave birth to and brought up many cubs. Possibly died of old age. They are most likely giving her water in her last moments as per Hindu traditions I guess.

She Died cause she was very old, 20 years old. I think her kidney stopped working. And the water is for freshing her and cooling her down while she passed away

She died a normal death.....she lived till age of 20 which was 5 to 6 years more than average tiger species life span cz india govt took such an initiative for her better survival....when she killed 14 foot corc she lost almost all of her K9 s....wild life conservation team look after her afterwards providing enough food and water source....as a part of wildlife she was driven away by her own daughter named sundari in a territorial fight...u can watch lot of video of her in youtube
