  • Welcome to Real JeRi, your source for the latest updates on development projects in Africa and around the world. In this episode, we explore the remarkable Borteyman Sports Complex in Ghana, showcasing the country's commitment to infrastructure development. Originally planned as a 50,000-seater stadium, the project was adjusted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, the University of Ghana stadium was upgraded to Olympic Stadium Standard, making it suitable for the upcoming 13th African Games. Spanning 100 acres, this impressive complex features a 1,000-seater competition swimming pool, five tennis courts, a multi-purpose hall, a dome for indoor sports, an athletic track and field, and an administrative block. The complex will host seven competitive sports, including table tennis, handball, tennis, volleyball, swimming, badminton, and the triathlon, with four disciplines serving as qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. This state-of-the-art facility will attract over 8,000 participants from across the continent. After the games, the government plans to transform the complex into a University for Sports and Development, ensuring its legacy and sustainability.
