I haven’t heard this case. Evil monster. Jail isn’t enough. For many, getting pregnant and having a baby does not make you a freaking parent. 10 day vacation? 💔
She didn't want the child. I'm 43 and never have I've seen so many horrible mothers like this. In the past 15 years (probably more), I've seen so many cases of mothers confirming they should never have children.
Sitting here with my 16 month old son I am heartbroken and disgusted by this case. I cannot imagine what that little baby girl went through. Life without parole seems like it is not enough.
Joshua, I’ve been watching your podcast for a few years now. My heart is touched by how affected you are by many of these cases. I hope you continue to share your perspective along with your guests on some of these most horrific cases. Love the show.
It’s so unfair. For many getting pregnant and having a child is easy. Parenting is another level. This was so despicable I can’t shake this story from my mind.
What about the 70 hours of witness interviews taken within weeks after the homicide? Police taped over the audio not once but in 2 separate occasions. They also didn’t document the witness list so no one could be contacted even 7 years later. Evidence denied to the defendant could have exonerated him.
Hi Josh. I really enjoy The Sidebar. It's a great show and I so appreciate your analysis. I can only imagine how awful the story of the little 16 month old was for you. I believe your little one is about the same age. For me, I think it is one of the most tragic stories I've heard in a long time. So tragic and so preventable. Take care Josh.
Mental health bs! Poor baby! That so called mother can rot for eternity! 🔥 We need much stricter punishment against crimes against the most vulnerable!
My 18 yo son asked me today if I heard about the baby who was left alone for 10 days. Of course, I heard about it bc I watch true crime TH-cam. I told him I heard. I asked him about his thoughts. He is not a dad but even he knew how wrong her actions were. I asked him what she should have done instead. He and I had a conversation that assured me that he understands what being a parent entails. That mom knew what she was doing and didn't care if her daughter died. She is where she belongs. Hell is her next stop.
What I am confused about the overdose case is that the mom’s partner died in 2006. It’s been almost 20 years and they think the mom or Kouri got influenced from that? It seems like if that were to correlate that the timeline would be a lot closer.
It was actually the prosecution that wanted to go forward with the contempt hearings and yes it was a giant waste of time. The defense requested it be held after the rapidly approaching trial. That was denied. And that’s not all, the prosecution has been withholding evidence from the defense, they erased 70 DAYS worth of video and audio footage from interviews following the murders. There’s some really shady things happening right now in Delphi, Indiana. While we all want justice for Abby and Libby, that doesn’t happen if we put the wrong guy in prison. RA is innocent until proven guilty just like the rest of us and deserves a fair chance to prove his innocence.
They should have moved that case from that town. What a mess. The other lady makes me really upset. I had issues having another child and people like her just throw them away
The woman who abandoned her baby makes a strong case example for why people should have to be certified to be allowed to have children. Some women should not be allowed to get pregnant!
Josh is the best.........Josh going solo here is great because we get his well thought out direct legal perspective on these pertinent legal issues. I've stated this before, if I got myself into a legal jam, I'd feel at least greatly relieved if I knew I had Josh Ritter on my side representing me. Josh does not sugarcoat anything, and I may not be thrilled with some of his advice but at least I'm intelligent enough to know when to heed it! The significant total indifference of that vacationing Ohio mother is a sick story that will haunt me the rest of my life. Probably not her rest of her miserable (and prison targeted!) life except she will regret getting caught and prosecuted, Great report, Mr. Ritter! Jim C.
It's heartbreaking .There are so many women who really want to have a child, and then you hear about this monster who does something so horrible to such a precious baby; it's just shameful. She had options, like taking the child to Child Protective Services or finding her a loving home. But no, she went and did something downright monstrous. It's just messed up.But anyway I really enjoyed the episode and the lawyer’s perspective, Good Job Joshua.
People are so selfish and self centered. Folks shouldn’t have children if they’re not willing to invest at least 18 years to caring for their children. Such monsters 😮😢
I am so confused when it comes to abby and libby...at this point justice just needs to be served...whatever that looks like ❤❤❤❤ and i couldnt imagine leaving the five year old alone for more then two mins (i cant even pee by myself..now watch me jinx that) that poor sweet baby ❤❤❤... Im sure a phone call would have found someone in her life capable of watching the little one .... ❤❤❤❤
I had followed Delphi pretty much from the start , an it’s mainly always been a circus and don’t look at it for a while but wen I go back to the case it’s still nuts 😂 I just can’t wait for justice to be served an hopefully that will be very soon For these 2 innocent kids and their families 💔💔
First, why MUST there be any other avenue of investigation? Investigators go where the evidence goes…🙏🙏🙏 For what purpose, then did the mom do this? TRAGIC and inexplicable😢😢🙏🙏
At some moment in today's world, prior to making babies, young parents need to understand the sacrifices required to be a good parent. I'm unsure where in their life they are getting this info. Family structure is becoming weaker and weaker. 😂Where was dad and why wasn't he involved? No excuse, but this child deserved life with stable parents.
Why would you not arrange for family members or friends to have your child & 16 months old so she could walk bless her soul I bet she was so scared left all alone didn’t anyone hear her crying honestly makes me so sad & angry because I have children & when I’m going through it I ask my husband/mom for help I would never just leave her because this wasn’t the first time either, thank you

I was excited to hear what attorney has to say about the Delphi case but as soon as I heard he said the “judge’s doing a good job,” I knew I was wasting my time. So many that followed the Delphi case think she’s doing a lousy job.
The judge, the entire time, has been upholding the rights of everyone involved. Including Allen. She could have done a better job handling the defense counsel’s failure to secure the case documents by making the entire thing public in court with RA’s attorneys but I believe she was trying to help them save face by asking them to step down in her chambers. The fact that she asked them to step down was completely warranted given their dereliction of duty. Why do you feel so strongly about her to the contrary?
The Delphi case will be in the news for years to come. If Rick is convicted he already has great grounds for appeal. I'm not confident in the case or the prosecutors. I believe that matters have become personal to the judge and prosecutor. They are not putting their best foot forward to serve justice for Abby and Libby. It's all about ego and saving face. To date, what has been done with this case is a disgrace to the judicial system and we the citizens.
She could have taken that child to Child protective services. Gave her up. Gave her away. She is a monster. Rot in prison.
She must have known what would happen to this baby. Surely she knew that a human is going to be dehydrated and starved to death in that time?
So many people would have adopted that precious baby girl! Just infuriating how she must have suffered! 😡

Is the inexperience of the prosecutor in the Delphi case shining through?
Feeding, clothing, providing medical care, and housing for folks doing things like this is so offensive.
Joshua, you seem way too nice to be a former prosecutor.
What? You mean people who go after killers, rapists and pedos aren’t “nice”?
Excellent summation, Counselor 😊 I ❤to keep up on cases but have little time to do so.
It is a very important case and it's very important to have a fair judge.
