Corporatism is monopolistic-capitalism which is the highest point of capitalism. When you become an imperialist power over your own populace there is no where else to go. Excellent and Informative analysis on the WEST/US-Trump and Russia and how they need to move forward and properly understand Russia vs Neocon/Elite views. Also, excellent update on Syria.
I follow a couple of women who are bloggers from Russia, WOW, it reminds me of America, I hope when tension decreases between America and Russia, I would love to go to St Petersburg. There are several great artists at the St Petersburg Museum I'd love to study these Painters in more in depth.
I don´t think Russia has a lot in common with USA. They have a very long history and have not stolen their land from indigenous people and filled it with immigrants from all over the world. Their artists, writers and philosophers are the greatest in the world while USA haven´t produced much of value...
Russia is America with a soul. And by that I don't mean any disrespect to our American friends. The Russian Soul is almost a living thing that connects all Russian people. If you talk to ordinary Russian people they truly deeply love their country. They love their president (of course Putin has his opposers, but unlike the west portrays it is not a dictatorship) and they are proud of belonging to Russia & Russia belonging to them. America lost that somewhere along the line and I fear it's going to be very hard for the "Trump Team" to negotiate with the Russians, because they don't understand the Russians. They need to be open to a whole new way of thinking which for many of of the people Trump has surrounded himself with I believe sadly will be simply too hard.
I gained a lot of respect for the people of Russia during the early days of TH-cam. Watching their drunken shenanigans I learned that their rednecks are just like ours.
@@West_Wolf_Esq Agree. Sadly. I believe Putin has a good estimate in that it will take 30 years to normalize relations between the 'west' and Russia. For the adults in the room it is over in Europe. The French historian and political scientist, Alexis de Tocqueville, in his visit to the US in the 1830's and his subsequent book, Democracy in America, foresaw a clash of civilisations between the US and Russia; similar countries in land mass, crossing ten time zones and history of slavery. And so it comes to pass. The great mind suggests diplomatic solutions within. Over it he spreads a fine mesh of uniform, minute, and complex rules, through which not even the most original minds and most vigorous souls can poke their heads above the crowd. He does not break men's wills but softens, bends, and guides them. He seldom forces anyone to act but consistently opposes action. He does not destroy things but prevents them from coming into being. Rather than tyrannize, he inhibits, represses, saps, stifles, and stultifies, and in the end he reduces each nation to nothing but a flock of timid and industrious animals, with the government as its shepherd..." - Alexis de Tocqueville, Democracy in America, 1840.

In so far as anyone does, the elites are those who already run the world which happens to be a clumsy task whoever does it. People don't want to relinquish the nation state and their national identities and replaced with a corporatist technocracy and regional identities. And rightly so!
Alistair uses the Latin pronunciation of the word minutiae and not the English or US version. Points to his classical education I guess 🙂 I especially love his always amused smile whenever Judge Nap refers to him as "my dear friend". I wonder if its a sign of how straitlaced and formal the Brits are and do not normally use these kinds of endearments too easily especially in a professional setting as this.
Endearments are inappropriate in any setting when they’re false. Only thing that bothers me about the judge because he uses that false endearment with all of his guests. They all reacted to it initially but appear to have grown accustomed to it now. Only exception may be Max, Anya and Aaron because they’ve all participated in anti-war protests and other activities together. I believe real friendships may be growing among them.
15:42 identity politics wasn't the ideology that changed in the late 70s and 80s. Alistair is putting the cart before the horse. The new ideology in the late 70s and early 80s was neoliberal capitalism. This was the force that drove the state towards a corporatist, technocratic and undemocratic model. Identity politics was a convenient cover to create division among ordinary working people so that they wouldn't fight back against the takeover of the state and the economy by global capitalist corporations. So yes, "woke "politics is indeed a mistake and a blind alley, but it only exists to deflect attention away from the economic forces at work, and to divide opposition to the corporate takeover of the state .
I suspect they went hand in hand, as implied by the term neo-liberalism. I've not read Brezinski's tome but I'm sure that Alastair Crooke has, and gets a lot of his knowledge from the horse's mouth. He probably knows his Machiavelli too.
@ they kinda did but the idpol wasn't the point. The economic policy was. The idpol was pushed to the front of the discourse to avoid discussion or challenge to the new economic orthodoxy. You could choose neoliberal capitalism with conservative Christianity etc, or you could choose neoliberal capitalism with a pride flag. Either way, we got privatisation, austerity, deregulation, outsourcing, consultancies running government etc etc etc
Good new year for everyone, thank you Judge and Alistair for this discussion. Alistair is completely correct about the course the empire needs to go, unfortunately there are still too many in the corporate and wealth sphere to quite give up on the goal of world privatization.
Always fascinated by Russian history, I have been twice MANY years ago and I loved both the country and the people. It is tragic that the West is told so many lies. ( A Scot living in Spain. I HATE the UK - US lite with all the same propaganda and war - mongering)
Alastair Crooke is a brilliant mind . So intelligent, well read and eloquent man with high moral code and decades of experience in real diplomacy, -- rare treasure.
“Operation Iraqi freedom” was the saintly title for the brutal invasion of Iraq. “Operation unified protector” was the angelic name for the destruction of Libya. “Operation enduring freedom” was the virtuous name given to the unjust invasion of Afghanistan.
I nominate Alistair as Trumps Number One advisor on international affairs and oblige Trump to listen and comprehend.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😭👹😭
Alastair has a remarkable and incomparable understanding of world affairs and the history of them as well.
The quality of Mr. Crooke's thinking is simply incomparable. You just can't get enough!
The Common Denominator in all these political shenanigans is called Fascism.
The love of power and money for it's own sake. Is that in our bibles and korans?
@@eleanorrae7378 Indeed it is.
Wishing for a “peaceful, prosperous and healthy” 2025🙏🌹
Fantastic & deep analysis.
Fantastic and accurate depiction of the corporate political influence.
We love Alastair.
Good new year for everyone, thank you Judge and Alistair for this discussion.
Alistair is completely correct about the course the empire needs to go, unfortunately there are still too many in the corporate and wealth sphere to quite give up on the goal of world privatization.
A trreat for tbe new year - an early Alistair Crooke analysis
Love his more meta/grand lines views. Abstracting away the nitty gritty.
Fine, that the shows restart now. I missed you all during the holidays. Welcome back!
My Wife and i Like Putin and we think Russia is a wonderful country. We have watched video of Moscow and St Petersburg. Michigan
Always fascinated by Russian history, I have been twice MANY years ago and I loved both the country and the people. It is tragic that the West is told so many lies. ( A Scot living in Spain. I HATE the UK - US lite with all the same propaganda and war - mongering)
Thank you! Peace and prosperity in 2025!
Alastair Crooke is a brilliant mind . So intelligent, well read and eloquent man with high moral code and decades of experience in real diplomacy, -- rare treasure.
Thanks for this deep and clear analisis.
“Operation Iraqi freedom” was the saintly title for the brutal invasion of Iraq. “Operation unified protector” was the angelic name for the destruction of Libya.
“Operation enduring freedom” was the virtuous name given to the unjust invasion of Afghanistan. All in the name of "freedom and democracy".
Happy New Year, dear Judge and Alistair. Thank you for another enlightened analysis. 👏👏🙏❤️
