      @CJY-f9c the whole geopolitical world should stop in its tracks and heed your sage advice. Forget a man who spent 40+ years in the diplomatic Corp, who is multilingual and communicated with all sides, gaining insight at every level. You, yourself, are obviously a geopolitical titan. All such analysts use laughing emojis to state their level of expertise whenever they want to show us their brilliance.

      Alex Krainer today in an interview on Dialogue Works made the point that the US/West is flailing around in its death throes, and can still cause a lot of damage. After WW2 the US was a force to build, but it doesn't have that capability anymore.

      @@Paeoniarosa The US was in its prime between the wars even though the elites had already captured it thru the Fed Reserve and Income Tax.
      But after WW2, the elites imported the Natsee elites and it BECAME the fourth reich. The Soviets kept its domination within the Americas, but their fall released its full malevolence upon the world.

    Corporatism is monopolistic-capitalism which is the highest point of capitalism. When you become an imperialist power over your own populace there is no where else to go. This is why wealth inequality is off the charts and why communities are dying. How do you have a community when you cannot afford the basic necessities of life? Talk around it all you like, but, it will not change the fact that the problem is and always has been a class war. The modern tool used is of course capitalism and it’s running out of road.

    • @Tom_Quixote
      @Tom_Quixote 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The problem with capitalism is that people need to have high enough wages so that they can buy stuff, but low enough wages so that you have control over them and they are desperate to slave away at their jobs.

Even a 5 years old knows that US needs peace time for fixing, repairing and getting the strength back... But a foreign country controls the US government, the US Congress and the US medias and those people need more and bigger conflicts in the M.E... it means, unfortunately things gonna get much worse for the US public (with or without trump)

      Russia is America with a soul. And by that I don't mean any disrespect to our American friends. The Russian Soul is almost a living thing that connects all Russian people. If you talk to ordinary Russian people they truly deeply love their country. They love their president (of course Putin has his opposers, but unlike the west portrays it is not a dictatorship) and they are proud of belonging to Russia & Russia belonging to them. America lost that somewhere along the line and I fear it's going to be very hard for the "Trump Team" to negotiate with the Russians, because they don't understand the Russians. They need to be open to a whole new way of thinking which for many of of the people Trump has surrounded himself with I believe sadly will be simply too hard.

    The French historian and political scientist, Alexis de Tocqueville, in his visit to the US in the 1830's and his subsequent book, Democracy in America, foresaw a clash of civilisations between the US and Russia; similar countries in land mass, crossing ten time zones and history of slavery. And so it comes to pass. The great mind suggests diplomatic solutions within.

      "...If despotism were to establish itself in today's democratic nations, it would probably have a different character. It would be more extensive and more mild, and it would degrade men without tormenting them...
      "The sovereign, after taking individuals one by one in his powerful hands and kneading them to his liking, reaches out to embrace society as a whole. Over it he spreads a fine mesh of uniform, minute, and complex rules, through which not even the most original minds and most vigorous souls can poke their heads above the crowd. He does not break men's wills but softens, bends, and guides them. He seldom forces anyone to act but consistently opposes action. He does not destroy things but prevents them from coming into being. Rather than tyrannize, he inhibits, represses, saps, stifles, and stultifies, and in the end he reduces each nation to nothing but a flock of timid and industrious animals, with the government as its shepherd..." - Alexis de Tocqueville, Democracy in America, 1840.

      In so far as anyone does, the elites are those who already run the world which happens to be a clumsy task whoever does it. Until the rulers are accountable, punishable and public all the ruled have to balance inequalities is rhetoric. In many ways it's a failure of democracy; not an incurable failure but one written into constitutions none the less. There are legal ways to rewrite a constitution (in the U.s.a. anyway) but since the elites already run the U.s.a, access to such means is closed to voters and folks who want their vote to represent their concerns.

    Alistair uses the Latin pronunciation of the word minutiae and not the English or US version. Points to his classical education I guess 🙂
    I especially love his always amused smile whenever Judge Nap refers to him as "my dear friend". I wonder if its a sign of how straitlaced and formal the Brits are and do not normally use these kinds of endearments too easily especially in a professional setting as this.

    • @mischevious
      @mischevious 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Endearments are inappropriate in any setting when they’re false.
      Only thing that bothers me about the judge because he uses that false endearment with all of his guests. They all reacted to it initially but appear to have grown accustomed to it now. Only exception may be Max, Anya and Aaron because they’ve all participated in anti-war protests and other activities together. I believe real friendships may be growing among them.

    15:42 identity politics wasn't the ideology that changed in the late 70s and 80s. Alistair is putting the cart before the horse. The new ideology in the late 70s and early 80s was neoliberal capitalism. This was the force that drove the state towards a corporatist, technocratic and undemocratic model. Identity politics was a convenient cover to create division among ordinary working people so that they wouldn't fight back against the takeover of the state and the economy by global capitalist corporations.
    So yes, "woke "politics is indeed a mistake and a blind alley, but it only exists to deflect attention away from the economic forces at work, and to divide opposition to the corporate takeover of the state .

    • @Richard-nt9kp
      @Richard-nt9kp 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I suspect they went hand in hand, as implied by the term neo-liberalism. I've not read Brezinski's tome but I'm sure that Alastair Crooke has, and gets a lot of his knowledge from the horse's mouth. He probably knows his Machiavelli too.

    • @michaelrch
      @michaelrch 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ they kinda did but the idpol wasn't the point. The economic policy was. The idpol was pushed to the front of the discourse to avoid discussion or challenge to the new economic orthodoxy.
      You could choose neoliberal capitalism with conservative Christianity etc, or you could choose neoliberal capitalism with a pride flag.
      Either way, we got privatisation, austerity, deregulation, outsourcing, consultancies running government etc etc etc
