The script which calls to kill spawned armies is called on the spawned general, so when you win the battle but lose the general it tries to call kill on the general, but since that general is already dead it can’t kill him and throws nil on the script. I had the same thing happen in my great bastion mod spawned reinforcements during testing where my general died.
@ imo on the contrary it will be very hard to patch. The kill command is done via script, and to kill the general you need to have an internal reference called a “command queue index”. You can store this value when you spawn an army via script to call kill on after. However if you hire a new general after the battle it’s a new command queue index - the code would need to be updated to add a command to get the new dynamically created cqi, and it would need to be updated to trigger the kill after a general is hired, currently afaikt it triggers kill as soon as post battle screen is closed but before the new general is appointed. TDLR it’s probably not worth the effort for such a hard to trigger condition.
@@daveb7049 I mean the simplest fix would be to just remove the free upkeep and treat it like a normal army to begin with. At least in this specific example the upkeep reduction is completely redundant since it all happens during the player's turn so the income wouldn't even be affected. I guess if they wanted to keep the upkeep reduction they could also just make it a trait for the spawned general, not the whole army so if he dies it's no longer free.

@@Dopetv-zd9ov Any mounted ranged unit with reasonable attack actually since vlad doesn't get a mount as a lord or a hero and gets outsped by most things on a horse even with his speed skill maxed. You can do it with a steam tank or outriders as well, but it's easier to get him to chase a hero.
I sent in the email! I got a battle for the moot that was 100% not winnable and in a desperate attempt to try and weaken the beastmen army my lord died to their Minotaur lord and I ended up keeping the army! So glad he made a video about it so more can use this cool ass bug. Long time fan from Canada.
Easy way to get the lord killed that might work is if they're mounted, and IF the ai builds barricades (which I don't think I saw them do), then get your mounted lord on top of the barricade and wait on it for it to get destroyed. I've seen this insta-kill a mounted Ikit-claw before. Think it's something to do with mounted units not supposed to be allowed on walls and so the 'falling' that they do when the barricade goes down insta-kills them.
@@Garret007 Not trying to link or plug other creators or anything but if you want to see what I mean in action just look for MonstersAbound's Ikit campaign, part11 about 35 minutes in. Full health Ikit on a doomwheel just fucking rolls up onto a barricade and gets smoked.

I love your content, I had an idea that I wanted to share with you for a series or a challenge you could do, which is "no deaths, first battle", essential you are trying to fight the first battle for every legendary lord without lossing a single entity (as in lord and single entities can take damage but you can't take any casualties), I know for a fact that if you manually fight the first battle with khatep, skrag and I think with Katarina and grom you can win the battle without taking any casualties, which would be interested to see which lord can do Thier first battle with no deaths and also it could be beneficial for newer players.
SO THIS WAS THE THING I never actually got a free army this way, but a lot of the time I got stuck with survivors of the enemy army roaming around on the map, because i think the same principle applies to them, and i often focused on killing the enemy lord during these battles It also would mean it's been there for years, because it's tied to a mechanic that dates from... actually i'm not even sure when. Did it come from the Hunter and the Beast patch, or another one ?
I guess this is not a thing in wh2, anyway, props to legend to receive a clue on potential cheese and he immediately can replicate it and use it for his own advantage
The last time it happened we got the hilarious beastmen rock machine gun turret. Based on what happened there it will get patched in a couple of weeks.
I believe its on wh2 as couple of years back something like this happened to me. My lord died but i won the battle and i had the army although i dont remember if it was free.
New idea for battles you want to loose: give yourself all cheats and all handycaps to the enemy, so it is even harder to lose the battle. Big fan of your videos
IMO Any exploit/cheese that is hard to execute (kinda) must not be patch. If the player exert all that effort just to execute the cheese then that means the player is having his/her own fun. It would be anti fun if they patch it out.

I played the battle, but didn't get my lord killed and then afterwards I kept the army(for some reason) and then had a lord without a trait basically. Was a weird situation. But maybe intended.
The events used to take unwounded lords you have recuirted. Unsure if they still do. So if you have a disbanded lord but not skill point reset you still have the points invested.
Just a thing that occured to me making it possibly easier - maybe use the archers you have to attack ground where the hero is at and do a friendly kill?

I have been playing since Total War Warhammer 1, (but really 2 as I got my first win in 2 and only have about 24 hours in 1), and I have NO IDEA how so many people get so much money, prestige, or whatever other faction recourses you need by turn 46. I saw his player trap videos and that helped, but i cant find anything else. I love the game but cannot figure a lot of it out even trying to do battles the same kinda way. I am obviously making campaign mistakes as well, but I cant figure out what they are
Hey, can you check out a bug that i accidentaly encountered in my latest campaign? I was playing Empire, Elspeth and during a fight I tried to cast a spell with her, then use breath of fire with her dragon witch cancelled spell and then again casted a spell witch cancelled a breath of fire's cooldown but for some reason it still casted without using cooldown or any of 3 charges so I was wondering if its possible to constantly reset breath of fire with spells and have them unlimited with no cooldown and if it works only with Elspeth or with any Dragon mounted spellcaster.
there is a strange swap between lord portraits: in the before of battle the imperial lord portrait have green thunders inside , this seems a skaven visual effect. why is on the empire lord?

I found out that you can easily snipe vlad with an engineer hero on horse. He died in 3 volleys when i faced him in my last campaign

They happened in wh2, but I don't think they're 100% no upkeep. I accidentally triggered it when I lost a defense battle in wh2 and got an extra army.

My luck is terrible, I got an empire knight lord and he’s on horseback in a main settlement

I remember in Game 2 these armies weren't free, as everytime i had them appear i had less income the next turn.

I think I've seen him concede defeat to get a good loss and then have an easier second battle having full ammo and magic again. At least on some siege
