Bonjour Carl.C'est franchement très réussit comme réalisation et j'adore le principe.Un tournage à rajouter pour mes projets de demain .Bravo et merci beaucoup de cette vidéo.👍
I have friend that I found out a similar way her allergy to maple. I had maple sawdust on my sleeve from a project I was sanding and she started having some issue with breathing. I later learned about maple syrup reaction too. So, you are super kind to separate your self from Robin and the walnut!
I love these sweet little boxes!. I'm so sorry to hear about Robin's allergy. Has she noticed a change when she eats nuts now? Even if not, she might want to check into carrying an epipen, for just in case. I'm glad you both figured it out before it got serious.
That's so cute. I'm allergic to basically all wood, more like all tree sap. And since they use tree sap for all adhesives, I'm allergic to all adhesives as well, including band-aids and tape 🤦🏼♀️
As usual, nicely done Carl! I would personalize the box by adding the persons name or initials. Very nice X-Mas gift for sure! Hope that things are good on your end! 👍👍
Neat looking box. My wife is a quilter so this is an idea that's going on the future projects list. You sand with a couple grits dry before transitioning to the walnut oil. Is there a reason that you can't start with the walnut oil on the first grits?
You could always use Howard Bees Wax and Orange Oil. It's not the Walnut oil that's causing the problem for Robin. It's the dust from turning the piece of Walnut. The oil is tripled boiled and has no proteins, so it's safe for allergies.
Awesome little box!
Thank you so much!
Hmm, yes great Christmas gift, i would love one...lol
Pretty cute little simple project! Thanks for the video mate!
Thank you!!
That looks great Carl! I love walnut. So glad I don’t have that reaction to it!!
Thanks buddy!
Great project and very practical. Gotta try that chucking up to the inside of the lid to finish topside. Stay safe and have a prosperous 2024.

Allergies are awful! Robin doesn't want anything to do with it! :)
Nice little project Carl. Those would be fun to laser engrave the top.
Thank you Mike! That's a cool idea!
BEAUTIFULL.
Thank you!
Nice job
Thank you very much!!

Great project, wonder if stitching yarn between the holes would result in an attractive visual effect of the lid being sewn onto the box?
Wife said the same thing after watching this video except mentioned using leather strings for the "thread."
That's a great idea!
Thank you Jerry! Like everyone else said that's a great idea!
That's so cute.

Thank you Connie! Oh no that sucks 😔
Does the walnut oil bother Robin?
No the walnut oil doesn't bother me, all the proteins have been taken out. It's definitely the dust!

You sand with a couple grits dry before transitioning to the walnut oil. Is there a reason that you can't start with the walnut oil on the first grits?
Thank you Mark!! I start dry incase there's some torn grain or tool marks. It's much easier to get them out with dry sandpaper.
I can sympathize with Robin...I am allergic to conifers.
Is there an alternative to using Walnut oil for the sanding process, just a thought cause you never know these days. Geoff

Your dust collector hose looks like it's just clamped to your banjo or somehow to your lathe. How is it held there, please?
it's hooked to a rail system on the lathe. I don't have a specific video on it, sorry.
What kind of parting tool do you use to hollow
It's a number one hollower by Easy Wood Tools, here's a link www.easywoodtools.com/
Who makes the chuck with the quick release jaws? Thx
That is an "Easy Chuck" that is available on Amazon.
It's a great chuck! Here's the link, www.easywoodtools.com/
