  • Tension on US university campuses is rising after police arrested hundreds of pro-Palestinian student demonstrators. Students at dozens of colleges in the US have been demonstrating against the war in Gaza. They've been calling on administrators to divest from companies that allegedly profit from Israel's war against Hamas.

    • @tripe2237
      @tripe2237 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There are other similarities with everything going on in Gaza and the west bank. The media rhetoric. Weeks of demonization of the protesters. Unsubstantiated garbage. Outright lies. Constant accusations of antisemitism. Calling them terrorists. Building fear. Trying to make mundane objects look like sinister terrorist tools. Constant claims of "outside agitators" while providing no evidence and it's clear the attacking mob were all from outside the campus.
      The media has been hammering on these protesters for weeks. Some major networks didn't even give this attack a segment. Like it didn't happen. Others acted as if it was unclear of who instigated when it was entirely obvious and the whole thing is on video, including from a news helicopter and crews on the ground. One of the early victims was a news crew getting maced.
      The mob drew back at one point to dance, chant "USA USA" while waving Israeli flags, proud of the brutality they had just inflicted. They had people posing as bystanders trying to get interviews with the news. One was asked if he was with the mob, he denied it right after he went on an "us vs them" rant deflecting everything onto the protesters.
      Everything these protesters have been accused of just manifested in an attack from a violent pro-Israeli mob. The media and some of our politicians share some blame in this. Of course, no one will admit their rhetoric is contributing to the hatred and making people unsafe. The whole thing is absurd.

There is were the abuse begins; the school has to be impartial about the conflict and not to be forced to support any cause but to educate. Is not about the conflict or the right to protest, is about the abuse, dirtying, pooping, etc. inside private property and disturbing other students, the programs and normal activities INSIDE the school. Why does the Midwest not respond like the rest of the country? Conservatives tend to trust the US government when it comes to military action in the world. The rest of us are tired of endless wars that benefit the weapons manufacturers and their investors. I say that as a tax payer indirectly “investing” my taxes into war after war after war. I don’t see the benefit.
    All I see is unlimited spending when it comes to the military, while the cost of living for the average American goes higher and higher.
    It’s not just a Midwest vs coastal issue though. What I find fascinating is the distrust conservatives tend to have toward big government, but when it comes to the military, it’s the opposite.
