- The new RED iPhone 7 looks absolutely amazing. I wish there was a black screen option. Luckily... I have an extra phone and some tools laying around, so I can build my own. This video shows the step by step method that I used to build my own black screen Product Red iPhone 7. Maybe Apple will be able to offer this version in the future. You will lose the water resistance if you do it yourself.
The main problem is the home button. Apple claims security is the main reason they wont allow home button swaps, but its pretty simple to cover up with a skin or sticker. Hopefully MKBHD will help us out with that.

I'm pretty sure the reason for the white screen is that they have a lot of extra white home buttons,motherboards, and screens left over from the silver gold and rose gold iPhones.Due to the high demand of the matte black and jet black iPhones they couldn't spare any screens/motherboards and didn't want to spend more money producing new boards and screens.

Although i would prefer having a black screen, u *could* also get a skin or screen protector which includes a cover for ur touch id (and touch id will still work as long as you apply properly) but doing that is a lot less fun to me ;/

@JerryRigEverything If you replace an iPhone the controller on the fingerprint sensor is serial# tied to the chip on the mother board. If you use the same home button from the original assembly the functionality will be replaced with a cache clear and reboot. I've repaired numerous iPhones not a single one has any problems with the sensor, If not than I'm a lunatic and going crazy. Literally never had a problem I hope that helps brother

To each their own, but to me it looks like an eyesore. Even the original white border combined with the red back and the black screen (in its off state) clashed too much. Given how obsessed apple seems to be with creating sleek devices with sky high pricetags, I would have hoped they would have deemed the black screen more aesthetically pleasing that the white in the concept phase already, at least when paired with the red body.
White and red work together, but having the white frame around a black screen looks much less neat than having a black front glass.
AFAIAC, the white home button looked extremely out of place when the front glass got replaced.

I do Apple screen replacements and it's super easy actually I also do internal hardware replacement on the side you just have to know a little bit about phones/tech and you should be good

the weird rubber outing you saw being stripped off gives it its water resistance. But since it was ripped off that functionality is gone. So you would have to buy a interior protector if you were to do this project.
That can be purchased separately and it's easy to install
You can buy a new adhesive but it still isn't guaranteed to work, so I would also coat inside components with hydrophobic coating just to be sure.

I wonder if they changed something with the home button. The 6 and 6s could use aftermarket buttons, the touch ID wouldn't work, but they'd still be functional.
