I have a YFZ450R and have rode many others, from Honda 400 ex, suzuki 450, the carberated YFZ450, banshees, and nothing compares to my YFZ450R the power is awesome the suspension is the best and it handles better than anything i have ever rode. i live in a desert/mountain area and ride on very different terrain almost everytime i go riding, i would HIGHLY recomend this quad!!!!
theyre awesome for the trails and wicked on the track. Where im at you gotta drive 2 hrs to the nearest track so its pretty much all trail riding. and i must say I am addicted to my R
considering what you get for that extra grand its well worth it. A similar long travel suspension system alone would run you upwards of $2000 for the standard yfz450. And with the shocks for the R revalved and new springs they will perform as good as any elka sytem. Then add FI and aluminum frame. Worth the cash in my mind
TechtodaProductions That is true, but the 450R is built for the track, and i think if you have time to look at the speedometer while racing then u have enugh time to grab a gear and get ahead. i do believe reverse would be a good feture specially for those of us that freeride, but then again on the track worring about putting it into reverse is just extra hassle, but could add an option if needed.
the 450r not only has fuel injection. but higher compression 11.6:1 vs 11.4:1 for added hp, longer a arms for loner travel. rear swing arm has changes also for longer travel. how the frame was built is also different. resulting in 34 more pounds. so the added hp might not make a big difference. but the rest of the changes do. $1000 difference is worth it, my opinion. cuz it will cost you more for suspension upgrades for the 450. and could add a little more weight. o and a change in plastic also.
ya my dad had a yfz 450 but he had to trade it because the guy that he bought it from hadent paid the payments so ya now he wants a yfz 450r but hes sticking with his trx 450r now
I got an 04' yfz450 runs perfect but i got trails not open fields so it really sucks because it dont turn tight enough id rather have long dragon strip or open fields to go fast in stock yfzs go around 65-72 MPH =)
Well i like the fuel injected better just because it will let the bike idle smoother and have a smoother powerband. It will have a little more power being fuel injected but not no major difference to tell. i would take this over the old yfz but $1000 dollers more? i think thats a rip off.
ive tied a 700 against 700 with exhaust exhaust dosent make a difference depending on who makes it!!! once again rider!!!! if its a slip on its dosent do all that much if its full than it will do alot!
O gotcha. and i want either an ltr450 or a yfz450r. i can get an 08 ltr450 brand new never of the show room floor for $4,890 but i gota pay full price for an 09 yfz450r. i think im guna go with the ltr450.
O i no that but its still an amazing deal. i mean the yfz450r isnt that much better than the ltr450. And with the price diffrence im getting i could put that money into the ltr450 and then it would wipe the floor with the yfz450r then.
Raptor > yfz-450 the yfz is smaller and more agile and maybe a tiny bit quicker off the line initially but trust me if you want power get the raptor . Look at this video for instance these veteran riders couldnt even clear those tables on the 450 its just too small and not enough power and torque, a 125 dirtbike will beat a 450 quad it will be close but the 125 on solid dirt 9 times out of ten will beat a 450 quad so put that into perspective .
Nope YFZ's ain't got reverse! These bikes are for MX tracks! You can ride them in the woods and trails but don't get ambushed or you'll regret buying the YFZ! Keep it in wide open spaces! Or get a Raptor 700! Both bikes are nearly equal in power!
@lllMrGrimlll KTM is the worst bike you can possibly buy and i dont say that to bad mouth the company im saying that because they have lots of problems with there productions your better off to go with a reliable bike

I have a Kawa 2008 450r but this one will be the one to beat. Yama makes some killer power!

@350quadrider raptor 700, the yfz is better for a lot of jumps , but raptors are better for the trails and tight corner
ya my dad had a yfz 450 but he had to trade it because the guy that he bought it from hadent paid the payments so ya now he wants a yfz 450r but hes sticking with his trx 450r now
I love yamaha
what track is that thing is sick even coverd in mud
I got an 04' yfz450 runs perfect but i got trails not open fields so it really sucks because it dont turn tight enough id rather have long dragon strip or open fields to go fast in stock yfzs go around 65-72 MPH =)
I tied a dragged-out 700, motor work ext. swingarm pipes yada yada with my stock yfz and i had no paddles.... lol
@jesseasbe yeah the only thing that sucks is no reverse and no speedometer
Is it worth the $1000 difference? Any HP gains from the differnce? If you're a true mechanic, you could tweak the carb at whatever heigh you're on.
I guess this bike does pretty good in wetter conditions ????
im planning on getting one but i plan to do alot of trail riding, are they good on the trails?
@stefano2841991 no doubt! i love myn!!
how bout the 2010 YFZ 450R SE?
its just quiet stock muffler man my 450 is fucking brutal and will spank a raptor...and throttle response is awesome
I wish I had a yfz 450r.....
@lllMrGrimlll This is a good bike.

Its hard to beat something like that.
@350quadrider raptor is just for dune riding.
ive tied a 700 against 700 with exhaust exhaust dosent make a difference depending on who makes it!!! once again rider!!!! if its a slip on its dosent do all that much if its full than it will do alot!

O i no that but its still an amazing deal. i mean the yfz450r isnt that much better than the ltr450. And with the price diffrence im getting i could put that money into the ltr450 and then it would wipe the floor with the yfz450r then.

@lllMrGrimlll KTM is the worst bike you can possibly buy and i dont say that to bad mouth the company im saying that because they have lots of problems with there productions your better off to go with a reliable bike
