I hear this argument from Christians all the time, I have a hard time explaining it, thanks for the video that explains it much better than I could ever.
MIND BLOWN!!!! Thank you for detailing all the details. (So that I understand: The Messiah can only come ""sometime AFTER" the second temple is destroyed. [?] 70-2020 and the Messiah STILL has not come during all of that "sometime." wow... sigh
Very nice video. More Christians would do well to learn about the hatchet job of manipulation and distortion that evangelical Christians do on Daniel 9. Not that they'd necessarily convert away from Christianity, but simply avoid making fools out of themselves with this particular Christian apologetic. It was actually never part of my own Christianity before I left for different reasons altogether. Only after the fact did it become a curiosity but something worth knowing.
So who is the one that set himself up as God and spoke abominations against the most high? I have always believed what the church teaches has already happened but haven t been able to piece it together. In the christian bible things jump around so much. And the end time spoken of and what was sealed up and the people will go to and fro and knowledge will increase is about what?
Skobac miss represents 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. "Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city" - Israel has 70 week... but for what? to do what? " to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity" - Israel is in the middle of babylonian Exile !!! they have 70 weeks to repent of the cause of exile. "and to anoint the most Holy" - within 70 week they will ID and anoint the messiah... and i will point out that "the most holy" is God, so God himself will be the Messiah. skobav is in delusion speaking as if this is a utopian time !!! WHAT, NO, its say israel has time to correct its ways.
The Rabbi is speaking in a synagogue, in front of the the Holy Ark (Aron Kodesh), where the Torah Scrolls are kept, situated in the front of the synagogue. The Ark is the holiest place in the Synagogue. In most synagogues the Holy Ark is on the Eastern wall, so that when we face the ark, we are facing the holy city of Jerusalem, where the Holy Temple once stood. The ark is only opened during special prayers and when removing the Torah to read during prayer services. You will notice that a horizontal ceramic tile design spans the two doors of the ark. Each door has its own vertical cylindrical handle to open and close the door. But, you are correct, that initially, the illusion of the separate handles and the horizontal ceramic design, can be misinterpreted to look like a cross, which it is not.
Christians interpret what is called as Old Testament through the lens of the New Testament. The earliest Christians were all of Jewish descent, raised in Jewish tradition, but they came to view Jesus as the Christ. And this changed a whole lot of things.

Finally an intellectually honest approach to the subject of Daniel 9!
