    This is a very informative video. Your number 4 just hits the nail on the head. The best thing to get students to come to your house. Going to a place like a library or to their house is not that effective I feel and when students have to go to your home to get tutored it sets the right tone and atmosphere for the tutoring. When I had to tutor at peoples homes I always had discipline problems and parents becomeing more of a burden than a help. for example, serving snacks in the middle of a session. I know they mean well but its a bit counterproductive.

    Hi, I’ve been following you on tiktok for a long time now and I was absolutely tickled pink to click the first option when I searched how to start a tutoring business and you popped up!! What a pleasant surprise!!! I’ve never followed someone on TH-cam before they managed to get a single word out before haha

    Hi!
    I just watched your tips for tutoring on TH-cam and I thought I would reach out because I am retiring after 30 years at my Chicago Public school, 28 of those years are in kindergarten. I would love to do a kick off to kindergarten tutoring program! I do have to admit it sounds scary and what about letting strangers in your house? That's kinda what I'm thinking about!! This sounds perfect for me because I still want to earn money and I definitely cannot sit around and not have anything to do!! Yikes! I'm also looking at all your content and have no idea how you have time to even do all of it. It is hilarious and so true! Looking forward to hearing from you.

    I'm genuinely eager to learn about the specifics of the contract. As a tutor, I've unfortunately had negative encounters with clients before.

    Very cool video! i also want to add that if you teach minors, when someone pays for them you need a relationship wit sponsor and student both. I think that customer experience is important here too. For me helps have a contract+tutoring summary report each month - i take mine from etsy, from cortadowitch shop.

    I love this - it sounds incredible. And… Do you ever have any guilt about only those who can afford a tutor being able to access you? I live in a rural area where we have so many families who could desperately use a tutor but could never afford private rates. Any thoughts on how to charge what my time and expertise are worth but also help those who need it (but can’t pay much)?

      I know a public school I worked for hired teachers for $40 an hour for kids like that. Maybe the school would be willing to pay for some students.

    First, I love your IG page for the info and the laughs! I'm thinking of camera options-I know many have a code option to view. What is the best way to research options? I don't want any parent to be able to view the video at any time they want. However, I'd like them to be able to log in during their child's session if they want to. Anyone else have any advice/info?

    Do you need a teaching certificate for tutoring? Or did you have to get a tutoring certificate from the National Tutoring Association?

    This is great information. I am a big fan of your humorous videos too! Do you carry some sort of extra insurance for having students to your home? Do parents stay for the session or do you video your sessions? Just want to cover myself if I do this in the future. Thanks!

    • @BurntOutTeachers
      @BurntOutTeachers  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Julie! Thanks so much for watching along. I have my business registered as an LLC, but don’t have any type of extra insurance. Parents are not permitted in during the session, but each one is recorded on camera for the safety of all those involved. Best of luck to you!

      Kudos on your realizing a better lifestyle ! Sorry teacher’s professional experience required the change.
      Today’s children need so much the educational skills and teachers that teach those skills including how to socialize in this often unkind world.
      As an 83 year old Grandmother, I grieve the current state of teacher’s fate in many of today’s schools.
      I remember when the worst thing a student did was to not turn in their homework. The resulting possibility of our teacher’s reprimand and the consequences of parents being informed of our actions was deterrent to breaking school rules. Teachers and parents were respected their approval was sought and valued. I fear for our youth.

    Hi, thank you for this. I started tutoring this year; one online student and a few in person at their home. My difficulty is the limited hours after school. Do you only take students after school or have you managed to find a way to tutor earlier in the day? Thanks from NZ.

      Market to homeschooling families. We homeschool and have a couple retired teachers/professionals we utilize for help in various subjects….it’s always doing the day.
