    Excellent animations to show the workings. In the process of designing a system with a heat exchanger, I had planned to use a proportional valve to control the fluid flow. Great to find out now that this is a better valve selection! Thanks again for the awesome video. Will be ordering one of these on Monday.

    Hello
    The channel is very helpful. But there were two questions about this video.
    Why, when changing the position of the shutter when adjusting the position in the animation at the moment starting from 10.10, the shutter movement is not shown? during regulation, the pressure drop across the valve changes. And secondly, I did not understand how these valves help the chiller work in case of partial load when a low temperature difference occurs - reducing the flow does not help the chiller.

    Can a standard 2 port control valve be installed downstream of a PICV (no actuator on the PICV)? How does the modulating control of the 2 port control valve affect the operation of the PICV. Do they work against each other i.e when the 2 port control valve closes, does the PICV compensate to keep the flow constant?

  • @CMircea
    @CMircea 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You said that PICVs don't work when combined with TRVs in two-pipe heating systems, but what about a TRV which is also a PICV? Danfoss (Dynamic Valve) and IMI Heimeier (Eclipse) both have such valves, are they suitable for two-pipe heating systems?

    Hi, Very nice video.
    Can you please let me know how it will avoid overflow in part load operation when PICV is used in constant speed pump.
    Pls explain as I didn't get that point.

    • @jamesch770
      @jamesch770 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When the system is in part load, that means some branches of pipework are closed off or at low flow. That causes the pressure of the system to increase. When this higher pressure water enters the PICV, it will cause the diaphragm to restrict the flow of water going to the outlet, making sure that the flowrate of water going to the outlet is constant.

    Dear The Engineering Mindsets at 5:42 you've said pressure increases then flow rate increases then velocity increases . Isn't pressure and velocity inversely proportional ? . Then how come pressure and velocity increases at same time . Kindly clear my doubt and please tell me I'm right or wrong .

    Working on a system at the moment. 2 chillers on primary side linked to secondary system through a de-coupler. Max flow on primary chillers in 250 m3/h in total.On the secondary side there are variable speed pumps.
    I need to ensure a max flow of 240m3/h on secondary side. Just wondering should i replace the 200mm DRV with a similar size PICV To ensure I don't pull no more than 240 m3/h.

    Besides being a single valve body, do these function differently than using a modulating control valve in combination with an automatic flow control valve?

    • @lifehealthandhappiness5661
      @lifehealthandhappiness5661 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In automatic balancing valve the flow is fixed, but here you get a range of flow for each valve size which can be adjusted as per requirement.

    Completely off topic - just a question I've had a long time, & didn't find topic. My question is about attenuators , or light dimmers. When you use a household light dimmer in you home to set mood, at night, let's say, and you dim you light to a faint glow - I know the light bulb itself [filament] is not burning energy, & you're not paying for electricity like if that bulb were straight-on at full brightness. My question is about that dimmer, & it's process... Am I still using the same amount of electricity - with the dimmed output process still using the same amount of juice as the dimmer's resistance deflects energy from the bulb? Does the dimmer chock the electric output, block it, or consume it? Thanks - Brad

    The way this thing looks, would backwash i guess, like turbulent flow, circulation within the PICV be a problem??? From what little I know, those fluid dynamics consideration would be a problem I think....and also lets say the pressure increases on the high pressure side, the goal is to maintain constant flow not constant pressure on the low pressure side right? But intuitivetlyIt seems like inevitably that the pressure will increase no matter what to make the fluid flow rate the same, for example in electricity, the resistance increases, but to maintain the same amount of current i.e. fluid flow, the pressure or (voltage) must also increase to maintain the same amount of current or flow rate? Its hard to imagine the same flow rate without a fluctuation in pressure as well.....someone please comment on all of this...
