October 2024 Book of the Month Recap Discussion - Chp. 8-13

🚨**SPOILER ALERT!!!**🚨
Marielle and Megan discuss chapters 8-13 of October's BotM, Played by Naima Simone.

Solomon asks Adina if he can bring his son to the firehouse for a tour, and she can't say no, even though she knows it won't end well.

Adina has a guy at work who is harassing her, but he's her superior, and she's a bit stuck on what to do. She has to fight so hard to be respected as it is, being a Black woman, and having both her father and brother in the same firehouse.

Khalil has a great time at the fire station, and playing in the firetruck. Solomon apologizes to Adina for how he reacted after their kiss, and admits she's the first woman he's kissed since he lost his wife. Once she knows that, she's the one who feels guilty. But, then he kisses her again. Later, he and Khalil invite her to the next hockey game.

She and her friend Noni go to the game, and have a great time, until at the end, Khalil calls her name to come say hi, and she meets his grandparents. They clearly DO NOT care for her.

The next day Solomon calls her to come over to hang out. She knows what it will mean if she goes over there, but she can't help herself. They finally get together and it is 🔥🔥!

Afterward, they pick Khalil up from school and take him for food. While he's playing, Solomon gives her another overdue apology, for how he spoke to her on their first meeting. He tells her a bit about his childhood, and some things he has only ever told his wife before. But it doesn't mean anything, he's sure! Good luck with that sir...
