    Scott is getting better with the review! Glad to see the progress and can't wait until Paul comes back.
    You guys can learn something from Straightpipes which does the co-host format very well.
    Maybe add in some written info on the screen, I know Paul didn't do this but it will definitely help with the viewers.

    Bought an MY 2018 CX3 last week, European spec so stick shift, which is for smaller cars still the default option here. It is the top of the line GT-M version with most of the features you covered such as leather, heated seats in front and steering wheel, Bose audio with subwoofer in the trunk, keyless entry, heads up display.
    What we didn’t get over here is a sunroof (what a pity…) but my car has Adaptive cruise that works OK-ish, I’m used to a recent Volvo system which is 2 steps ahead and Digital Audio Broadcasting, so an endless number of radio channels. I suppose the latter is a European thing.
    Interesting review for who is interested to buy a small crossover!

    I bought this car and I'm super happy...it is a great car to drive all around.. I checked on other options on compact suv 's and this car kept exciting my expectation and went with it and this car has not let down on speed, rough terrain, and handles well on sharp corners..I have one small issue ..why they had to put the ignition behind the windshield wiper stick?

    We just picked up a 2019 CX-3 Touring FWD w/Preferred Equip Pkg in Soul Red with just 9k miles on it for $20k. This is my wife's daily driver. No kids. She liked it better than anything else in the subcompact and compact class.

    Great review...shopped sub compact CUVs early this year and came down to: CHR, HRV, CX3 & Kona. Went with CX3 in GS AWD trim with safety pkg and got a great deal on it ($2500 off MSRP) with zero down and zero % lease...issues with CHR: FWD only and too funky styling and CVT; HRV: weaker 1.8L engine and CVT (enough said) almost went with Kona but didn’t like the 1.6L T engine (overpowered for its size) and afraid of DCT...was leaning towards just the NA 2.0L engine (luxury pkg). Problems were: dealers couldn’t keep in stock due to demand, higher %rates, halogen HLs and manual handbrakes (it’s 2019 now most use electronic HBs!). Glad went with CX3!

    Thanks for posting the informative review. No subcompact vehicle can be expected to accommodate four six-foot adults comfortably but it is good that this review shows the CX-3 can accommodate four people of average height. Of the seventeen vehicles I looked at in the category only five could be ordered with engines that allowed quicker acceleration than this one. For most people going from 0-60 mph in about 8.5 seconds will be enough and that is a lot better than the 9.2 to 11.0 seconds required by most other cars in this category.

    The larger CX-30 is replacing it here in the USA. The CX-3 here is now down to a simple baseline, budget trim option only, while the CX-30 has at least 4 trim options.

    I just rented one....a 2021 model. I find it just a little small. The least comfortable seat is the driver's seat. All other seats are comfortable. It's based off the Mazda 2 so it's small with a narrow foot well. The door panel is always pressed against my knee making for an unpleasant driving experience overall. Other than that, it's been a great car.

  • @xxashley69

    How is the space in this vehicle for infant car seats?

    • @FamilyWheels
      @FamilyWheels  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ashley, it's a pretty tight squeeze to be honest. Rear facing seat you're going to want a slimmer seat, and even then the person in the front doesn't have a lot of room. See the 9:18 mark :)

    Apparently SUV's are the "new black." And the CX-3 is a good choice for mainstream buyers who want but don't need an SUV. Like Mazda's other "CX's" the CX-3 gets its appealing looks from a long, long hood. But like its siblings that means sacrificing passenger room and cargo capacity on the altar of style. At least it's not as extreme in that regard as the bloated CX-9 -- larger on the outside than almost any other "midsize" crossover while offering less room inside than any of its rivals.
    I did chuckle to see the "standardized trunk test" for the CX-3. As my daddy said about dogs dancing, "You don't ask how well they do it. It's amazing they do it at all." In this case, the CX-3 "passed" the test as long as a driver doesn't demand to see through the rear window. Perhaps Mazda should offer extended side mirrors as an option for those who want to see what's behind them. Nah. That would ruin the CX-3's "style."
    I like the Mazda brand. I've owned four over the years. The Mazda6 turbo may not be as quick as its major rivals (Accord, Camry) but it's beautiful, inside and out and it handles very well. And if Mazda made no other vehicle than the MX5 it would still deserves respect. But Mazda's CUV's all sacrifice the the "U". Perhaps they should be called "CSV's" (Crossover Stylish Vehicles).

    I've had mine for 2 months now. Having had a Subaru Forrester & Subaru Baja as well as a Toyota Rav(all brand new), I would have to say I'm pissadointed. Body style funnels dirt over the back hatch rendering the back up camera useless most of the time even with the use of silly little wiper. Then because there is no other way to pop the hatch, you get filtthy just opening the hatch. No car play so they messed up the dash for nothing. Subaru had better gear ratio. Mazda is not built for winter or country driving!

    • @Davido50

      Mazda is way better . Just bought a C-X3 & Ford Ecosport for fiance & I. You may like the Ecosport AWD better ? We do.

    • @five_o_fever9381
      @five_o_fever9381 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Subaru's AWD system is better but what makes you think the Mazda is not built for winter driving? I just bought one and had no problems in the 8 inch Michigan snowfall we just had..The driving dynamics of the CX-3 leave the Subarus in the dust. Not to mention their boring and dated interiors..And who wants a whiny CVT transmission that you get in a Subaru?

    • @-AGB-
      @-AGB- 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      FIVE_O_FEVER I'm looking into getting one next week and Michigan winters is what's running through my head. I saw a really nice 2018 model but it's FWD. I don't have the money go cough up winter tires. There’s a 2016 AWD model that costs a little more. Anywho, how's your car doing? Do you wish you committed to the CX-5 because the way I see it, CX-3 is a slightly hiked up sedan.

    CX3 is definitely not a good family car. The interior is cramped and the cargo space is not flexible enough.Even the Mazda 3 hatchback is more adequate than CX3, also with some extra power.HRV and Kona are way better options.

      It's under their CX line, which stands for crossover that is usually considered to be a family car category.
      But CX3 has less interior space since it is based on the Mazda 2.CX3 is inferior to Mazda 3 almost in every aspect and should be eliminated from Mazda's lineup.

      We used our CX-3 as our second car for sending our son to school or for short trips to town. My son (5 then) prefers the sitting position of the CX-3 over the former Mazda 3, even this car was bigger. He has a better view than in the Mazda 3. We are not big (1.7 m maximum) and all four of us fit quite well in the car. But the trunk is really small and cannot fit most strollers.
      We currently use the CX-5 ans will probably upgrade to the CX-8. But I am waiting for the new CX-3 which should be bigger. There are rumours that Mazda will introduce soon a new CX-Model (based on the new Mazda 3?).
